About this property
The Mount Yonah Castle, Spectacular Mountain Views, Hot Tub, Pet Friendly
If you are looking for an upscale north Georgia mountain experience “The Mount Yonah Castle” is the place for you. Located in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains, our home has an open floor plan with a spectacular views. We are in a gated community between the towns of Cleveland and Helen, GA. So many activities in the immediate area or just stay at the house and relax!!
Mount Yonah Castle will capture your heart from the time you walk up the flagstone walkway to the grand entrance to the time you leave with cherished memories of your getaway. There is a flagstone walkway that meanders around the house to an inviting patio where you can enjoy the view and the chirping birds along with a fire pit and seven person Hot Spot Rhythm hot tub.
Inside the home you can relax on one of the sofas or chairs and enjoy a warm fire. Or, go out to the deck to do a little star gazing. It's a great place to enjoy the mountain air and the open sky. We have several comfortable seating and dining options available on the deck. Pets will enjoy the freedom to roam around in our fenced in back yard.
The master bedroom is on the main floor and has vaulted ceilings, a spectacular view, and access to the deck through sliding glass doors. It has a comfortable king size panel bed. The private bath includes a jetted tub, double sinks, and a separate shower.
The two spacious bedrooms upstairs have a king size sleigh bed and a king size panel bed with the same comfortable mattress as the master bedroom and they have their own private bathrooms as well. One of the bedrooms upstairs overlooks the mountains in back and the other overlooks the garden and forest.
Additional sleeping options include a day bed (with trundle below) in the great room. We also have 3 roll away cots that would be suitable for smaller adults or children and could be set up in the hallway or in one of the bedrooms. And we have a Pack N Play for your infants. For maximum comfort we recommend no more than nine adults per family or group.
The clean and bright white kitchen with white granite counter tops make it a pleasure to spend time in the kitchen. The cottage style dinner table has room for 10 family members and friends. There is also a six person and a two person table on the deck if you prefer to dine outside.
The fire pit on the patio has six Adirondack chairs where you can go toast marshmallows or sip some wine by the fire or you can take a relaxing dip in the hot tub overlooking the valley.
There is a half bathroom in the foyer for anyone who may be sleeping in the great room.
In the morning there is nothing like having your coffee on the deck in a rocking chair or one of the lounges while watching the sunrise come over the mountains. Even storms are amazing at Mount Yonah.
If you like wildlife keep an eye out for the local deer and other critters. We have an abundance of song birds and there are even bears in the area if you are lucky enough to see one.
We have WIFI in the house and Hulu TV in the great room and all the bedrooms and all the TV's are smart tv's for your streaming accounts, i.e. Netflix, Prime, etc.
Nearby Cleveland is the home of "Babyland General" where cabbage patch dolls were created.
Our home is about five miles from Helen, which is an alpine village known for Octoberfest, river tubing, and scenic beauty.
We are about 15 miles from Dahlonega. This is the site of the first US gold rush and has an interesting history which you can learn about at the gold rush museum in the town square. This is also the southern most part of the Appalachian Trail. You might also want to check out "the Holly Theater" which puts on very professional live plays and musicals.
There are a lot of festivals and vineyards in the area as well as several state parks including Uniqoi in Helen, Vogel State Park near Dahlonega and Amicolola Falls in Dawsonville.
We have several eating establishments in close-by Cleveland and Helen. Our information book has a list of restaurants if you want to review it upon your arrival.
If you want to take some day trips you can ride the Blue Ridge Railway in Blue Ridge or just walk around the town as there are many interesting shops. Brasstown Bald is the tallest mountain in Georgia and is about a 30 minute drive from our home.
This is a great place to have celebrations for up to 9 adults and 11 guests total if you have children. Our rates are for 6 people, there is a charge of $25/per person per night over 6 people. If you have a dog (up to 2), there is also a $100 pet fee for the entire stay.
We are located on a dirt and gravel road and it is one mile up to our home. You do NOT need a four wheel drive vehicle to get to our home and there are no steep drop off's. However, we are located on a mountain so you may want to bring a SUV if you have one. A low clearance vehicle (such as a sports car) is not recommended.
We do NOT recommend our home for guests on motorcycles or guests with motor homes or trailers unless you arrange to pay for a spot at the base of the mountain at Yonah Mountain Campground.
We book up fast so we recommend you book early if you want specific dates. Come experience “The Mount Yonah Castle”!
Other things to note
Our property is NOT suitable for larger parties or events as we have neighbors on both sides of our property and parking is limited to six cars so you would have to shuttle your guests up to the house. The master bedroom is on the main floor with a full private bathroom, two bedrooms upstairs with ensuite bathrooms and a comfortable day bed and sofa bed in the great room with a half bathroom in the foyer.
We have a fenced in back yard for those of you with dogs allowing them to roam freely in back when you are out on the patio or on the deck. We have a Pack N Play for your infants as well as a booster chair and stroller. We also have a handicap chair for the shower on the main floor if you have anyone elderly in your party.

About the host
Hosted by David Rankin

My wife and I both grew up in Oklahoma and met at Oklahoma State University. We have retired here in central Georgia and really enjoy the calmer weather conditions and southern hospitality. We are both very active in our church, I play too much golf, and Laura does too much volunteering:) We enjoy traveling, wine, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Why they chose this property
We both grew up in Oklahoma, and while we really enjoyed our time there, there were no mountains, maybe some occasional hills:) We fell in love with this part of Georgia, and the mountain views from this home are absolutely spectacular. This is our second home and we love spending time here when the house is not rented. So, we want this home to have all the comforts and amenities that we are accustomed to....and my wife has wonderful taste!! So, please enjoy The Mount Yonah Castle.
