This is an excellent place to have a family gathering because you all can share the same place. The accommodations are adequate and the scenery is outstanding. It also has a unique history that makes it special.
This is a charming property with lots of different spaces! Worked out great for my extended family for a little pre-July 4th lake time. Plenty of rooms for everyone to find their spot and also well-appointed kitchens. Kayaks were a plus for us as was the tiki bar and beach down the street. In Dundee there was a great little bakery and awesome hamburger haus! Great time was had by all!!!
This is our second year staying at Juniper and Oak Lake House. Its the perfect vibe for a large group with lots to do on property and nearby. Shannon is a wonderful host and has thought of so many extra touches that make your stay so cozy. This year we rented the big house and the cabin in the back which is also gorgeous! Hope to be back 2026!
Our family stayed at the lake house for one week. Our grandson enjoyed the kid friendly items available. The location was great and the old house charm was unique. Would go again.
Absolutely loved the lake house! There were plenty of great spots to relax and unwind, and the projector in the hang out room was a huge bonus, and the pier was perfect for enjoying the beautiful lake. The property looks even better in person. Can’t wait to come back!
This property has everything you will need. Just pack clothes and food. We had so much fun tubing at Sunburst and a hay ride at Palomino Pines. All to return to this house to warm up and plenty of room to relax, eat and play games. It was a great time and a great experience with Shannon. wenttubing at Sunburst and hay ride at Palomino Pines.
We were looking for a large house that sleeps 14, on the lake, within 2 hours from IL. Well, this house could not have been more perfect.
The house has so many interesting twists and turns, fun decor and room for everyone to sleep. There is no hot tub, which was no big deal, just a heads up.
There were a group of ladies in the back house, we loved them.
If you have a large party, booking both houses would be amazing.
For a house built in the 1800s, the A/C worked great.
All in all, the house was everything we were looking for and more!
To say the least, book this place, you won’t be disappointed!!
We love Juniper & Oak!! This was our first family trip since my siblings & I were kids & we’re now grown with families of our own. It was an absolutely fantastic experience all around. There were 15 of us & we fit comfortably with room to spread out. The house is truly beautiful with all of its history & charm & it has basically everything you need! Bring personal items & groceries & that’s pretty much it. Juniper & Oak had it all. To name a few: kitchen supplies, ice trays, filtered water, shampoo & conditioner, epsom salt for a relaxing bath, so many toys, guitars, lounge chairs, lake towels, fans, water toys, playing cards & games & even a supply of toiletries & things you may have forgotten for a cash donation. We enjoyed fishing, kayaking, being out in the yard & adventuring over to the Tiki Beach. We encountered only a few, somewhat minor issues during our stay. Probably the biggest one is the road that separates the house from the water. With little ones running around we had to keep a very close eye out to make sure they could cross safely. Cars really come flying down that road, so it’s a little nerve-wracking. Depending on your personal preference, some of the beds were quite hard & uncomfortable. I’d say about half of us complained & the rest of us were comfortable. I think one of the rooms upstairs, on the carpeted side, didn’t have any working lights. Overall, an incredible house and we’re all eternally grateful for the memories you helped us create! Thank you.
Lovely and charming property at which to enjoy our annual Cousin’s Camp! There are sweet details located throughout and it felt truly like you were staying in someone’s home, rather than some more sterile-feeling modern rentals. The host is as very kind and easy to communicate with. I love how warm it felt and how many thoughtful amenities were included. Again, so refreshing compared to many other places we’ve rented!
The place was charming, clean and well stocked for cooking and entertaining. The only issue we really had, was that we are all senior citizens and the stairways to most of the sleeping areas are very very steep and narrow. Had we known that, we probably would not have chosen this house. Also, the day we arrived we could not access the lake because there was brand new tar on the road and we couldn't cross without ruining our shoes. Certainly was not the fault of the host. Highly recommend to families and younger people.
