The cottage was extremely spacious. Very nice setup. Even the outside deck had plenty of room and the gas fire pit was excellent. Beach was beautiful, very private.
Outside stairs were very difficult with large suitcases to drag up there. Virtually no closets in the house. Top floor bedroom was basically not accessible because stairway is so narrow and steep, maybe for young people but not seniors.Views are very nice, but adjacent to public beach area. Also music concert at park next door was pretty loud. I could not see bringing my grandkids here because of the stairs and cars going by on the road next door, which is one way down to boat ramp.
We had multiple familes coming to town for a wedding and need a place close to ours but with a view. This place exceeded all expectations

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Did not know the way in was to park by the beach and climb 3 sets of stairs that are in bad shape and 1 of my friends is handicapped. We found the side stairs but they were in bad shape also and i fell 3 times and cut up my arm and foot. The house was lovely but in the pictures it looks like the deck out front is part of the rental but it was part of the lower level rental. We had a great time but fortunately we didn't come and go a lot.

This was a frustrating property to stay in. There is so much potential here. Beautiful views off the front windows and great showers. But then there were so many things that needed attention. No cleaning had been done on the outside so the first impression is one of an unkept property. There were old tea bags in the coffee machine and spiders gathering under a light in the hallway which made me question the interior cleanliness.
Light bulbs were out, there’s a water stain on the ceiling in the front room, exposed wiring and paint chipping, along with poorly caulked windows, all of which really down grade the property.
While there were spaces that looked like they were modernized, there were simple things that this owner could change to make this spot much nicer to stay in; put proper towels in the bathroom, not beach towels, refresh the toilet bowl brush that was rusty, work with the beautiful beach vibe that you have and brighten up the paint, bed linens (cotton bedding, not polyester which is hot to sleep under) and pictures to bring the place together. Get rid of old or worn out interior and exterior items. Attention to small details and a little investment would make this a much nicer place to stay and would probably command a higher price. This is a charming location, with great proximity, we would have enjoyed it so much more if it also felt like a well cared for spot.
Cottage conditions was as advertised. No issues with checking in. It was easy. Instructions provided by the property manager was very accurate. The view to the lake was magnificent. Furniture arrangements by the windows were as such that you could sit down relax and enjoy the scenery and listening to the lake and birds. During our stay there was no extra noise ... it was just the lake and birds. We're planning on going back for one of our summer vacations.
The views from living/dining room were as advertised, lovely. The bedrooms were generous but one bedroom beds were extremely uncomfortable. Bathrooms clean.Fireplace didn’t work. The kitchen could definitely use all new frypans, oven needs to be cleaned. Knives could use a good sharpener. Outside seating area should be cleaned up from Cobwebs etc. The advertisement should be more transparent with the access up to the second floor. 46 stairs in bad uneven shape makes for trip and fall hazard, and not easy with luggage. Greg was great getting back to us with any questions we had.
The views and location were prime. Some of the property description was not as accurate as hoped. Parking seems to be a first come basis, although it was supposed to be for the upper unit I don't believe it is very clear for the lower unit renter that they are to park at the beach public access. The bathroom on main level has a wood ant issue and we purchased ant traps to eliminate that issue. The property needs to have face clothes and dish clothes, the laundry needs to be braced as the washer will shake itself towards door when in spin cycle no matter the setting or amount of laundry, SO keep door open when doing laundry. The upper bedroom has a fireplace for heat but that would not stay running so we left that space as is and used the king room on main floor with space heater for warmth. I UNDERSTAND that this property is an older/heritage property its just unfortunate that full maintenance hasn't been applied to showcase the potential this home could offer.
We originally rented this property because we wanted views of the lake and sunsets. And the listing advertised sunset views. Nowhere in the listing did it say anything about the multitude of stairs you had to climb to get into the unit. Nowhere in the listing did it say anything about the floors being badly sloped and uneven inside the unit. Which having a bad back and bad knees made it difficult to navigate the unit itself. The views of the lake were gorgeous, but the sunsets were hidden behind trees. You had to go outside to see them which was not a big deal except for the multitude of stairs that you had to climb down and climb back up. Everything else about this unit was perfect. It's such a shame that they didn't tell you until check-in time about the stairs, which happened less than 24 hours before we were checking in. Had my sister come with us. There's no way she would have been able to get into this unit. We chose not to stay at other units along the beach that were less money because they showed there were stairs. And so for these two reasons I advise people to be aware before you go there. Everything else is as advertised and the views of the lake are absolutely gorgeous.
