About Pat Pugh and Joseph Smith
My husband and I have lived in Colorado for over 35 years and love the mountains - all seasons. We enjoy sharing our special place with others and love hearing about their adventures in the mountains. We did take our condo out of the short term rental market for two years and are returning winter 2018. Beginning Spring 2019, we will be taking only long term rentals 30 days or longer. We live in Denver and enjoy the city with the bike paths and open spaces - yet it is always refreshing and revitalizing to spend time in the beautiful Colorado mountains.
Pat Pugh and Joseph Smith purchased this Condo in 1998
Why Pat Pugh and Joseph Smith chose Silverthorne
When we decided to look for a get-a-way in the mountains, our condo was the last listing we visited. The floor plan with the bedrooms on either side of the living room was one feature we liked alot. We knew it was the one for us. First floor, pool and hot tub at the end of our hall, well-maintained property. And the ski resorts were within 30 minutes of our condo. We fell in love with the summer and fall seasons and enjoy hiking the area.
What makes this Condo unique
We love our view of the Continental Divide and that our view is not of another building. We can walk right out of our living room door and start hiking or snow shoe on one of the many trails on Buffalo Mountain. We are in Buffalo Mountain Recreational District and our roads are always snow plowed by private contractors.

The condo is not too big but very nice. Everything looks very clean. The beds are comfortable. kitchen has plenty of utensils for guests to use. The complex also has nice shared swimming pool and activity room. The owners are very responsive for guests’ questions. Overall, We had very good stay.
Very well kept, very clean & comfortable, good place to stay.
It's not hard to tell that the owners take pride in keeping this place in top notch shape. There's nothing particularly outdated in here, & everything is orderly, well maintained, kept impeccably clean, & one's impression that "this is a really nice place" will hold true for your stay. The only reason I can't give this place a 5/5 is because of the inherent problems of being a single unit in a big building.
Besides the cleanliness of this place, if you get the master bedroom, the comfort controllable bed is GREAT! I almost never find a bed as firm as my back desires, but with the mattress control set at 48 out of 50, my back didn't "talk" to me in the mornings. I did play around with the settings initially, & for you waterbed type mattress people, the lower settings in the 10s & 20s should give you as much of a mushy mattress feel as you want.
Another thing great about this place is the view out the back glass door. You won't be longing for great views since you're at almost 10,000 feet elevation looking down upon Silverthorne, Dillon & even the lighted slopes of Keystone.
The location isn't bad at all because it's less than 10 minutes away from all the restaurants, shops & businesses in Silverthorne, & nearby Dillon. One good thing during inclement winter weather is that the road up to this place is on the main bus line. Can't say the same for the upkeep of the street into & out of the complex, however. When I parked my car at 9pm & the street was clear, nothing was plowed by 4am as well as at 5 am, & found myself trying to clear parts of the 2 feet of snow covering everything.
My only other peeve about this place is that the (shared) hot tub is indoors, not outside, & one day the water was COLD! Add to that, there's no washer or dryer in this unit. You have to walk down the hall to the shared laundry room, & you're SOL if you don't have a ton of quarters on you. No outdoor grill either on the back deck.
One REALLY nice feature of the place, however, is the real log burning fireplace....... not one of those fake gas kind that so many places have now a days. Got to hand it to Pat & Joseph as well for having a more than ample supply of firewood handy.
The directions to this place in VRBO stink, & that's being complimentary.
Thank heaven that Joseph, one of the owners, called us back within 5 minutes of our voicemail that we were having difficulty finding the place.
In the long run, I don't think you'll go wrong staying here.
Great Place and Great Value
I initially chose this property in Silverthorne as it had great reviews, was centrally located to Summit County ski areas, and was reasonably priced for the week of Presidents Day .
The condo is not brand new but is very well maintained by the owners (Pat and Joe) including what appears to be new appliances and carpeting. The entire condo was very clean upon our arrival. The two bathrooms had plenty of instant hot water and good water pressure...important after a long day on the slopes! The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and utensils for cooking meals at home. The bed in the master was very comfy...there was only two of us so we didn't make use of the additional twin beds in the other bedroom. We even saw a fox just outside the sliding door on our last evening there! He was gone to quickly to snap a pic though.
This condo worked out perfectly for our vacation and if I go back to Summit County again, I would definitely stay here.
A great stay in a great location!
We really enjoyed the condo. It is in great condition and just down the hall from the hot tub and pool. We would love to stay here again!
Neat, clean and well maintained
Clean, neat and very well maintained, property. Plenty of room made relaxing a treat. We were impressed with the unit being stocked with nearly every imaginable item you could ever need in a rental. We thoroughly appreciated the smart placement of bedrooms and baths placed on opposite sides of the living room. Although the heating system made odd creek and crackle wall sounds through the night, next door neighbor noise was non-existent. We would not hesitate to rent this unit again.
Location is great, we went to a different ski area every day. Super comfy new bed, everything we needed to make it a wonderful trip. The view out the patio door is amazing too.
Summer activities include biking, hiking (trails begin right outside condo door), fishing, golf, horseback riding, white water rafting, and boating. Lake Dillon and a number of rivers are located nearby. A large factory outlet mall is located in Silverthorne - ten minutes from condo. Excellent restaurants are found throughout the area.
