This 2nd floor studio apartment is a private, small space at the back of the building, with minimal street noise activity. The house is an old 1910 wood frame building, with layers of history and normal wear. It is a family-friendly building, owner-occupied (1st floor), with another family on the 3rd floor. The kitchen is tucked in an alcove, but open to the living/sleeping areas. All kitchen appliances and fixtures are modern, with a stone counter and copper back-splash. There is an entry closet. The bathroom has a standard tub with shower, dual flush toilet and stainless industrial sink. All towels and sheets are provided. This apartment offers two places to sleep, first is a bed for double sleeper and the other a fold-down chair for single sleeper. The living room/ sleeping area windows face Northeast; allowing a lot of morning sun and indirect, natural light. Most of the furniture is minimal, modern style. Although there are sleeping accommodations for three, it is really best for two adults (and one child). With an artist owner, it is a work in progress. Please do not expect hotel-level finished, but instead an interesting dialogue between materials, spaces, furnishings. **This is a Non-Smoking unit**No Parties** Check in is at 4PM and check out is 11AM. I try to accommodate all individual arrival and departure circumstances

The stay at Frid's was great as everything worked out perfectly. Some lovely folks in the building and a nice neighborhood. Frid was great.

Exactly as expected
I would absolutely rent this unit again! The apartment was exactly what I expected based on the photos. Frid was an absolute pleasure to stay with. The proximity to Brooklyn Pub is also a plus. The food is outstanding!
This perfectly met our needs. There was everything we needed, including a box of creative toys for our two-year old. The host was most gracious, helpful without being intrusive, and available to answer all our questions. An alert for people with limited mobility: there is a half-flight of stairs to the front door, and a steep-but-manageable stairway to this second floor studio apartment.

Nice appartment, very friendly host
This nice appartment had everything we needed (we = my wife, our 16-year old son and me). Kitchen is well equipped, neighbourhood is quiet, beds are fine, WLAN is good - we felt very comfortable. Frid is very friendly and helpfully, it was a pity that we hadn't more time to talk.
Manhattan, Coney Island and other parts of New York can be reached easily, there are some subway stations in walkable distance (10 to 15 minutes). Our problem was that a lot of the subway stations were under construction on labour day weekend, but fortunately there also are a lot of bus stations near by.

Great place, great host, great everything!!!
Frid is a very nice person, she has spent all the time needed with us to provide advices for visiting NY and take advantage of the area.
Staying at her place has been a great experience and our children have also enjoyed it so much!
The nearest subway station was closed during our stay but it takes only 10 minutes by walk to go to the other station.
Frid has been so nice she has offered us one extra night cause our flight has been delayed of 12 hours and we had no solution for this extra night!!!
Staying in Brooklyn is great after a day of visits and of walk in Manhattan!
We hope we'll come back to NY and we'll definitely ask Frid if her place is available.

Perfect get-away flat in lovely neighborhood
My husband and I arrived for our four night stay to find a beautiful apartment waiting for us. The place was clean with comfortable yet chic furniture and accessories. It is obvious by all the carefully selected objects that Frid is an architect (and so are we). Frid was the perfect host and made sure all our needs were met. There is a full kitchen with a cozy nook for quiet breakfasts with a view of several sweet back yards. The house is in the vibrant neighborhood of South Slope with lots of restaurants and cafes in the immediate vicinity. It is only a few blocks from beautiful, historic Green-Wood cemetery, perfect for a nice walk among old tomb stones, ponds and excellent views of Manhattan. A few minutes walk in the opposite direction, heading north, brings you into Park Slope with landmarked city blocks and restaurants of every ethnicity. The subway is also only a few blocks away and getting into Manhattan is fast and easy. I highly recommend this apartment and will definitely be back for another stay.

I look forward to hosting you again.

Great location, amazing host, friendly neighborhood in Brooklyn
Frïd is such a warm, welcoming host and made my experience living in New York for three months as easy and comfortable as possible. Particularly in terms of access Frïd went above and beyond. As I have a disability I often have trouble with some door handles. Frïd organized for a new door handle to be installed soon after I arrived.
The apartment was incredibly comfortable and is located in a very friendly, safe neighborhood. Lots of great cafes/ restaurants nearby and is about a 15-20 minute walk to Prospect Park, and about a 10minute walk to the R subway.
Overall I had an amazing time here!
Communication (text) with Frid, the owner, was always fast, pleasant and mostly helpful. Neighborhood safe - house quiet with one exception: when the upstairs renter (with dog) is home, it can be noisy (washer runs at night etc) text rid and she will help.I liked the view into the back yard - better than on the photo !
It was our first time visiting NYC, and this little studio in a quiet part of Brooklyn was the perfect choice! The R-line is only a 10-minute-walk away and takes you straight into Manhattan. Bonus: there’s an awesome bagel shop on the way :). It was so nice to be able to retreat to this peaceful place after busy days in the city! Frïd promptly answered any questions that we had and made checking in and out a breeze, despite us having a very late arrival and super-early departure time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Frid really wants you to be comfortable and is accommodating. Just let her know. Don’t expect hotel finishes but lots of character. The entrance to the building is a bit off putting and cluttered. Parking can be a challenge, but we seem to always find a spot. The kitchen is equipped but has no microwave. The apt is very airy, bright and has all you will need. It is quiet and we had our best sleep there unlike a lot of hotels we’ve stayed in.
My family’s experience has been seamless. It has been wonderful to walk to the coffee shop, restaurants and park. At night it is quiet enough to open a window and let a breeze into the space. Our host has been communicative and helpful. All positive for this reviewer!
Loved this place! The room was extremely clean and comfortable. It was private and quiet as the window looked into a backyard and not the street. The bed was super comfy and the linens were quality which is my main concern every time! I would stay here again in a heartbeat next time I visit Brooklyn.
The neighbourhood was friendly and safe, nice people, close to beautiful prospect park and close to yummy restaurants.
Frid was welcoming and kind. Check in and check out process was easy.
Thanks for a great stay!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Frid was a fantastic host. Very responsive and incredibly accommodating. We had a red eye flight and arrived early in the morning as well as a late night flight when we departed so an early check in and somewhere we could leave our luggage on the day of departure was important. Frid was very understanding and accommodated our situation.
Unit was clean and was great value.
Comfy Flat in an Up and Coming Brooklyn Neighborhood
As per previous reviews this studio was very comfortable with everything you need to be whether eating in or out. Fantastic neighborhood, great shops and restaurants, great transit for Brooklyn or into Manhattan. But the best part of the experience for us (an older couple) was getting to know Frid, who is an awesome lady, incredible host, an architect who is still remodeling the flat and busy on rebuilding the neighborhood, which is rapidly gentrifying. Can't wait to return next year to see what exciting changes have happened in the area.
Frid’s apartment is a lovely pied à terre in a great area of Brooklyn. It felt safe to walk around and as if we were living in a real neighbourhood. Hole in the wall pizza from Luigi’s was a first night highlight. Reccommended.
We enjoyed our week in Frïd’s studio. She is an amazing host and she responded everytime we needed her.
The studio is well furnished. The subway station is at 10mn from the house by walk and it’s a safe area if you want to come late at night.
Location provided easy access to subway lines. Great restaurants, parks and shopping within walking distance. Very quiet. Enjoyed the stay and Frid was very helpful with recommendations.
My daughter and I loved the studio! I will absolutely be back again.
The studio has everything you need and is very charming with lots of light. The neighborhood is great for walking to good restaurants and markets and not too far from the subway. Couldn’t have been better.

We spent 8 nights in this cosy traditional Brooklyn home and loved everything about it. The location was perfect. A family friendly neighborhood, close to some great restaurants, and ideal to catching the subway to see the amazing Manhattan sights. Frid and Shaun were helpful with any of our questions and made us feel very welcomed. I can’t wait to return and will definetly stay here again.

Frid is the most responsive host we've ever had - responding to our questions and emails very quickly and in a very helpful manner.

About the host
Hosted by Frid Branham
As mentioned in the rental description, I am an artist and architect. I am currently self-employed and most of the projects I do are residential or small businesses, although I have a lot of experience working on institutional/medical projects.
I was born in Ibiza, Spain to American parents and moved back to the States when I was 11. My parents are also creatives, working in architecture, art and fashion. After receiving a 4-year degree in History from Boston University, I decided to pursue architecture and attended my parents alma matter Pratt Institute. Afterwards, I completed a Masters degree in sculpture at Hunter College.
Why they chose this property
I love the friendly, safe neighborhood. It is slightly divided off from South Slope/Park Slope, creating an enclave of its own. There are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants to try; many of different regions of the world. The school system is very good and my kids can safely walk around the neighborhood unattended by an adult.
What makes this property unique
I live in the building, and make myself available to any and all questions, needs and concerns.
