About this property
Award-winning Apartment in Downtown Boerne
Featured in April 2013 Fine Homebuilding Magazine ('Stress Free in South Texas'), this home won the magazine's national award for Best Retirement Home. You can see pictures of the apartment in the magazine article. It is a sustainable, energy-efficient home designed by the owner-architect, but its cozy apartment has all the comforts of home and a vintage feel!
Charming, 2nd floor apartment in the heart of Boerne on Frederick Creek. Own kitchen and bath (dishes and linens provided), dining nook, washer-dryer, full-sized refrigerator and stove, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, 32-inch flat screen tv on swivel wall mount, internet access. The bed is a queen with new mattress and box spring. The living area has a new (queen-sized) sofa bed, footstools side tables and dresser and upholstered reading chair. The tub has a shower. The sofa has comfortable pillows. We provide all dishes, cooking utensils, pots and pans, and coffee maker. The balcony has a small table and two chairs for morning coffee.
10-15 minute walk to Main Street filled with antique shops and restaurants. 40 minute drive from San Antonio airport. Private entrance, parking. Picnic on the shady creek!
Come for these special events in Boerne:
Every month, Second Saturday and Sunday, crafts market with food and music, just a 10-minute walk from here.
Every Saturday (March-December): Farmer's Market at the Herff Farm.
We are a quick walk from the Kendall Inn and Peggy's on the Green restaurant, which serves as the trailhead for the Heart of Boerne Trail. The trail connects to the Hill Country Mile, a landscaped walkway connecting downtown along the Cibolo Creek. Walk among trees and native plants from the North end of Main Street with its shops and restaurants to River Road and more of the same. Then you can continue down River Road to other hike and bike paths and follow the Old Number Nine train route through town or to the Cibolo Nature Center and Farm.

Why they chose this property
The apartment for rent is self-contained, on the second floor, and is across the courtyard from our home, with its own gated entrance. We like the fact that we can walk to the Bear Moon Bakery (Wed-Sun) with pastries, breakfasts and lunch), or breakfast or lunch at the Boerne Daily Grind. Boerne Taco House and Mary's Tacos are about a 1/2-mile away. For entertainment there are numerous craft breweries or Boerne Cork and Keg, Bistro 259 for an outdoor Biergarten, and for an upscale dinner: the Cypress Grill, Valeria Restaurant or the Creek Restaurant, all but Valeria within a 10-minute walk. We also have chickens nearby and deer wandering along the creek behind the house. It's truly country in the city!
For outings, there's Enchanted Rock and Fredericksburg 1 hour away. The Sunset Cafe in Fredericksburg and Hilltop Cafe outside it should not be missed. Only 12 miles from here is Comfort, with its well-preserved downtown and the beautiful Bending Branch winery. Listen to live acoustic sounds near the outdoor fireplace overlooking the hills on the weekends. Other great winerie: St. Tryphon (15 minute drive) or Singing Water (35 min.). Guadalupe River State Park is 20 minutes away, and Boerne Lake offers swimming, and some other great state parks nearby. Boerne itself boasts a well-known nature center, hike and bike trails, Second Saturday arts, crafts, and gallery hopping, and numerous other points of interest, which we will be glad to let you know about if you're interested.

What makes this property unique
We are in an eclectic residential neighborhood 3 walkable blocks from Main Street. Boerne is a sweet little town, but for extended visits, the large grocery store HEB is a convenient 5 minute drive, and San Antonio is only 30 minutes away. The Hill Country offers beautiful drives and vistas.
