Property Description: Welcome to our rustic summer house, located near the picturesque Lake Chocorua, just a 7-minute walk from the house. The property offers a spectacular view of a ten-acre meadow and Mount Chocorua beyond, all steeped in rich history. Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln, visited the property many times in the late 19th century.
Our farmhouse is open from mid-June to the end of September and comfortably sleeps eight guests. It features two full baths, a fully equipped kitchen, a washer and dryer, a large dining room, and a living room with a cozy fireplace. Enjoy the screened-in porch and the private beach on Lake Chocorua, just a five-minute walk from the house.
The Space: The house is set on very private rolling meadows with wooded acres and views of Mount Chocorua. You'll drive through a gate, named "Willow Gate" after the two willows that once stood there. The long driveway leads through the meadow, past the barn, to the house and parking area at the back.
Inside, you'll find plenty of sheets, blankets, and towels. The fully stocked kitchen includes dishes, cups, pots and pans, a coffee pot, toaster, microwave, and dishwasher. We provide dish soap, laundry soap, and paper products, and kindly ask that you replace any items you use in large quantities. While there is no air conditioning, fans are provided throughout the house.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome. The house is perfect for relaxing and reading, with a large collection of books and games available for guests.
Guest Access: The house is locked for your privacy and security. You will access it through the white front door.
Other Things to Note A space heater is available if needed, additional heaters upon request. We kindly ask that guests take their trash to the transfer station. We provide a permit that also allows you to park in Tamworth residents-only areas.
Lastly, due to our cleaner's schedule, bookings are from Saturday to Saturday.
We hope you have a wonderful stay!

We've rented Willowgate for years now and love spending time in Chocorua. The lake is wonderful and the mountains and town are always spectacular. Our three-year-old loves the "Tamworth House" and going on adventures. Our dog always whines when we turn onto the road, and our friends and family have always had an enjoyable time.
Chocorua magic permeates this house and grounds. The rustic simplicity of the house and barn, along with the captivating view of a rolling meadow of ferns and grasses with Mt Chocorua in the background, create a sense of calmness and serenity. You feel part of nature here. Highlights of the house include the large screened porch; its aura of antiquity and unique layout; its many windows looking out into the forest, meadows and beyond; and the spaciousness of the living area with its huge dining table, The house remains comfortably cool, even on warmer days Communication with the owner is prompt and helpful.
Our family of 8 adults stayed at this beautiful property and had an amazing time! The location, the lake and the property was absolutely perfect! We did have a couple of instances, but they were taken care of immediately. The hosts were very responsive and great to work with. Absolutely would stay here again!
We loved our stay in Chocorua. The house is charming with wonderful antique furnishings and shelves of interesting books to peruse. The property offers a meadow and lots of open space, which our golden retriever enjoyed. We did a lot of hiking, attended a theatrical performance at Barnstormers and swam in the lake. It was so relaxing.
This is an amazing Property. We've stayed here multiple times and wont hesitate to in the future. Everything runs smoothly and the week goes off without a hitch.

Thank you, Peter. We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay!
We have stayed at Willow Gate for several years and always look forward to it. The porch alone is worth it. The area is wonderful. We always bring our kayaks/canoe, and our dog never wants to leave. Our toddler had fun too.

Thank you, Abigail! So glad that you had a wonderful time.
We had a great two week stay at this house. The house is perfect for a bigger party, with plenty of bedrooms and large areas to spend time together (living room with tons of seating options, large dinner table and an amazing screen porch). The house is set back from the road and offers privacy and amazing views of the mountains. The walk to the lake is about 7 min. Suggest bringing charging ports if you have many devices as we did - the house is older (but SO charming!) and there aren't as many outlets as you would expect from the more modern house.
This property is gorgeous and incredibly private. The home is rustic and yet deluxe with a stunning view. The rooms are comfortable and relatively cool, even in hot weather. The home's antiques are beautiful, period appropriate, and also really functional, which makes them especially fun. The books were a hit with our whole family, ages 4 to 74. So many interesting early editions. Our dogs were jubilant, as were the kids, and the adults were really able to unwind at the end of each day, both inside around the fireplace and on the porch. The only downside is an abundance of ticks that like to hitchhike, so be ready to spray yourselves and check any dogs you bring after every jaunt outside. The hosts are communicative and accommodating. We had SUCH a blast.
This was our second stay on this wonderful property, and again it didn't disappoint. We love everything that goes with staying here- the incredible views of Mt Chocorua beckoning a hike, the quiet solitude broken only by the calls of the Loons, the inviting crystal clear lake, the endless walking trails available either from the door or a short drive away, the wildlife (which this year included a bear, a moose and her two calves, turkeys, and an endless stream of hummingbirds all right in the field below the house), the creaky stairs telling stories of years past as a carriage house, the interesting history of the Chocorua Lake area and the dedication of it's residents to preserve and protect it, the local bakery and farmers market in Tamworth, the impressive library of books lining the shelves... The list is endless. Thank you, Coulter family, for sharing your piece of history and place of idyllic relaxation with our family.

Thank you for the kind words, Jessica! So glad that we were able to host you.
It’s a beautiful property with plenty of room for everyone. The house is clean and Eliot is very easy to communicate with and responds quickly. The lake is beautiful and it’s a great location for exploring the lakes region and the white mountains. I highly recommend taking a trip by canoe or kayak on the Saco River nearby. My dog loved it!Huge fireplace. Just know that there’s no Tv. :)
