Welcome to Scuttlebutt Nautical Cottage! Just a block away from Taylor Creek (Beaufort's beautiful waterfront), this peaceful retreat offers a nice blend of comfort and convenience. The location is perfect for casually strolling around historic Beaufort, and downtown is an easy 15 min walk away.
For guests who love staying in places with a sense of history, this cottage is for you!
Step into our cottage and be greeted by the rustic ambiance of exposed beams and high ceilings that gives a nod to Beaufort's seafaring past. The original pine hardwood flooring adds to the warmth and coziness of the space that will make you feel right at ease.
Outside you'll find an expansive back deck with BBQ, while the front porch beckons you with its swing and two rocking chairs, allowing you to embrace the simple joys of life.
The location couldn't be better for exploring the beauty of Beaufort. Turning right at Taylor Creek, you'll be treated to breathtaking scenic views of Carrot Island, where wild horses roam free, while gorgeous historic homes will captivate your imagination as you stroll West towards historic downtown Beaufort.
Cottage Highlights
- New (2023) central AC/heat pump
- Master bedroom with new king-sized bed and en suite full bath with tub
- Second bedroom with queen-sized bed
- Second full bath with shower
- Fully equipped eat-in kitchen
- Dining room with space for 6
- Living room with sofa couch (and full size mattress)
- Outdoor deck with BBQ and patio table with four chairs
Historical note: The original building (now the family room with original wood burning stove) was built in Morehead City in 1910. Subsequently, it was moved to its present location in Beaufort and two additions were constructed: the present day eat-in kitchen and the middle structure with dinning room, baths and two bedrooms. Architecturally, you will notice the style differences between the family room and kitchen with vaulted ceilings, and the newer middle structure.
