About Your Hosts
Rob's family has owned and lived in this cottage for over 25 years. While they still spend time here, they have recently opened it up for short-term vacation rentals. Rob is your contact for all reservations and special requests.

Heather is a long-term Beaufort resident, visual artist and boat captain in addition to being our property manager, and she's available to ensure your stay in Beaufort is fantastic. She also runs licensed boat cruises and tours of the barrier islands, including Shackleford Banks, the Rachel Carson Reserve, and Cape Lookout.

Historical Note
The original building (now the large front room with original wood burning stove) was built in Morehead City in 1910. Subsequently, it was moved to its present location in Beaufort where two additions were added: the present day eat-in kitchen and the middle structure with dinning room, baths and two bedrooms. Architecturally, you will notice the style differences between the family room and kitchen with their vaulted ceilings and the newer middle structure.

What you need to know about the Scuttlebutt House
We had a great time in Beaufort itself. However, the Scuttlebutt House wasn't up to our expectations - not up to standard. Needs shrubbery trimmed, cut down to ad to front and curb appeal. The house's furnishings were good, kitchen was well stocked and beds were very comfortable The floors had many places that a person could trip over and fall and be seriously injured. Need written instructions on how to operate the TV and thermostat. Not suitable for older adults and those with limited high tech knoweledge.

Last Minute Getaway
Going to Beaufort was a last minute decision. Rob responded to my questions right away. He hung with me until all the details were worked out. The house was quaint and the neighborhood was quiet. Much needed time away. Thank you so much Rob!
