We had a wonderful long weekend here. Perfect weather let us swim and kayak and fish all weekend. House was spacious enough for two families of five plus our dog. The views were perfect!
The owner was incredibly responsive and helpful, promptly answering all our questions before our stay. The location is serene and beautiful, offering a peaceful getaway. The provided kayaks were a fantastic amenity, and we enjoyed being out on the water every day. The big backyard was perfect for the kids to play, making it an even more enjoyable experience for the whole family.
This house was the perfect venue for our trip- we caught fish and crabs off the backyard pier, we watched the sun rise and set off the pier, we very much enjoyed relaxing by the fire pit with the stash of fire wood right next to it. The picnic table in the yard and decks allowed us to dine alfresco. The deck grill was very helpful for us in prepping our meals.. we hope to come back again and recommend this place to anyone seeking some quiet time from the city.
We luckily found this property last minute as our other rental property had a tree fall on it. This property turned out even better! Great layout, clean, beautiful views, it was great for our two families large families.
What a great location - getting our extended family together at this great property right on the water was fantastic. The views were incredible and all of the kayaks and stand up paddle boards were so enjoyable to use. Communications Alan could not have been better. We hope to stay again!!
This was our second family getaway to this property. The home is very well appointed, and the water front views from the living room, deck, and fire pit areas cannot be beat. We'll be back again next year.
Alan was super helpful and very receptive in terms of communication. Great location, love the private dock.
My two nephews essentially became Chesapeake Bay watermen for the weekend. They barely touched their iPads... Enough said.
We rented this property as a group of 6 friends and had an amazing time. It is the perfect weekend getaway. The house has everything you need - fully stocked kitchen, kayaks, crab pots, bikes and a fire pit. We have already reccomended it to a bunch of people!
Big backyard with grill & kayaks, and dock for fishing & crabbing cages
My family and my sister in law’s family stayed there for 3 nights. We all had a great time! Grandpa and my husband love fishing and crabbing while kids kayaking.
We also watched sunrise twice in the backyard, which is beautiful.
Inside the house has enough room for my group. We enjoy our staying!
My family spent a relaxing Memorial Day weekend here. We had plenty of space for our kids and my parents to be comfortable. The home was clean and provided all the kitchen and grilling tools we needed. It was quiet and peaceful. We spent a lot of time playing in the huge, well-maintained yard. We even caught a few crabs off the dock!
This property location is great. Beautiful water views from the house, the yard, and the dock. Large bedrooms and living areas. Kitchen spacious and well equipped The kids and the adults enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boards and the bikes that were provided. Fire pit was an extra bonus. Property was quiet and easy to find. Would be great for a longer stay. Property owner was very accommodating even offering late checkout for our 3 Ironman participants to come back to shower before our drive home.
The location on the water allowed our family to enjoy swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and attempts at crabbing. The outdoor space provided plenty of room for the kids to play ball, run around, have water gun fights without worry of disturbing the neighbors (the house is on a cul de as). We also biked, took long walks and visited local crab shack for delicious crabs. Our host Alan was easy to contact and answered our questions timely. Overall we had a lovely vacation! Lisa (renter)
Our family from 4 states came together for a great vacation. It's hard to choose based on photographs, but the house is roomier even than we thought, and the property was large and private--as if we owned the whole peninsula. The fire pit area, private dock, and availability of kayaks and equipment really enhanced our stay. The kitchen is well equipped with good quality utensils, cookware, etc. The owner was just a text away for any questions or concerns that we had. We are keeping this on our list of favorites!
This house offered a quiet, relaxing getaway for my adult family and grandchild. It is just as pictured. Roomy and comfortable for our family of six adults, and two dogs. Alan was very responsive, not that we needed him much. Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, TV and Wifi were all in order. Didn't get a chance for the many outdoor activities offered, because it was cold and windy, but may come back again someday in warmer weather.
We thoroughly enjoyed a safe family gathering as a substitute for the Thanksgiving and Christmas we won't be able to share this year. Just about all of our time was spent with children and grandchildren outside - even in late November! We were creative and spent many hours around the fire pit warmed by propane heaters (which we brought with us). It's a bit of a unusual layout for a house, but very spacious and was just what we were looking for for this gathering. Kids were able to fish, catch a few small crabs and even kayak on a warm weekend day.
TL;DR: we had the best vacation in years here!
Long Story:
We were 2 families (9 in total) and stayed for a week. The house is about a 25 minute drive to Cambridge where you have food, groceries and a Walmart for supplies. The house, dock and property location were the primary reasons we chose to stay here, as its very quiet and remote but close enough to go out to dinner. One tip: as you're driving to and from Cambridge, keep your eyes open for deer as they can jump out in front of you in a pack.
The house itself was great, stocked with toys, games, fishing poles, crab traps, kayaks and bikes. You'll need to bring your own bedsheets, towels and supplies like toilet paper and paper towels. The owner, Alan, is very responsive and communicates all of this in his welcome letter. We brought our own fishing gear and right off the dock you can catch dozen of Perch and Spot in the early morning and evening which can be used as live bait for larger fish in the Chesapeake. We rented a boat from Slaughter Creek Marina and they delivered and picked up the boat to the house if you rent for several days, otherwise it's about a 45 drive to them.
The bedrooms are comfortable and there's air conditioning in all of them. Wifi was great and cell service was fine on ATT, Verizon and TMobile. Watching the sun rise in the morning from the dock is amazing!
If you're looking for a place away from the crowds but close to a city, you can't go wrong staying here!
If you are looking for a peaceful stay with beautiful water views this is it. The pluses for us were the access to the kayaks and paddle boards and with very little traffic (almost none) on the water, the less experienced felt very safe. The dock is fabulous place for your morning coffee. The deck has a fully enclosed railing with gate so if you had small children or dogs, you didn't need to worry about an accidental escape. It has spacious living quarters and seating. All five of us agreed we would come back again.
We had an amazing time. The house was nice and the pier was even better. We fished and crabbed the whole time. I wished stores were a little closer and there were more kid friendly things in the area. Overall everyone had a great time!
Had a lovely stay at this Cambridge waterfront property. It is about 20 minutes outside of town in a lovely quiet neighborhood. Plenty of room for two families with children and dogs. We all had a nice time out on the kayaks and paddleboards, and spent evenings watching the sun go down and crabbing. We had quite a few mosquitoes, so plan to pack extra bug spray. The crabbing was fantastic, and the host had two large crab pots in addition to two small crab traps for our enjoyment. The kids had a great time, and we caught over 3 dozen crabs. The host was very responsive to communications and was a pleasure to work with.
