About this property
Private TinyBarn cabin in Woods
The TinyBarn at Covenant Woodlands is a lofted 350 sq ft glamping cottage in the piney woods of Alabama. Made with love from locally reclaimed upcycled materials. Equipped with modern appliances that fit the cabin vibe: an electric wood burning stove and red retro kitchen appliances complimented by bear & moose accent decor.
It’s cozy, but with everything you need for a getaway. The small covered porch boasts two wooden rockers and a fire pit/outdoor dining area is off to the side.
PET POLICY. One dog permitted subject to approval of the host. Please scroll to the bottom of this section and read the pet policy requirements and then message me regarding your pet request.
The Tiny Barn at Covenant Woodlands is the first Tiny Glamping property to go live on the 10 acre property. There is also a Tiny Farm with a fenced pasture that currently has hens and a rooster and eventually will have rabbits and goats as well.
A two hour drive from Atlanta and a 30 min-1hr drive from Talladega or Birmingham, Covenant Woodlands is the perfect driving distance for a short getaway. We are less than a 15 min drive from 1-20 and a scenic 17 min drive from HWY-280. We are among the closest property to Barber Motorsports Park (~20 min drive).
Once you are here there is so much to do! We are less than 20 mins from Logan Martin Lake public lake beach, and 15-45 mins drive from a host of other activities including berry picking, horseback riding, petting zoo, hiking/mountain bike riding (Mt. Cheaha, Horse Pen 40, Oak Mtn, etc.), Talladega Speedway and Barber Motorsports. Please check my guidebook for additional activities including local restaurants, shopping and rainy day activities.
Parking for two cars (+) is completely private next to the Tiny Barn. So if you are traveling with a full car, trailer or motorcycles this is an ideal spot.
While this listing now accommodates four, it is a Tiny House. So, please expect close quarters with four.
I do everything in my power to ensure that each and every guest has a peaceful and wonderful 5 star stay. This is only possible if all of my guests respect the policies put in place to preserve and protect Covenant Woodlands.
Guest access
The Tiny Barn is a half a mile from the main house nestled in the piney woods. So, guests will have complete privacy during their stay. Guests are welcome to hike the old ATV trails and see the future glamping sites and enjoy the woods and creek, or walk the parameter of the pasture and watch the chickens. There are survey markers denoting the property lines. You are welcome to bring mountain bikes and bike anywhere on the property. There are also some excellent nearby mountain biking and hiking spots noted in my Guidebook.
Guest access to the Tiny Barn is via a code. It is self check-in between 3pm and 10pm on your arrival day. It is highly recommended to arrive before dark as navigating in the dark may be challenging for first time guests. Please let me know your ETA- in case you need assistance en route.
Other things to note
Cell signal is spotty all over the area, especially right after a rain. AT&T and Verizon perform best topping out at 2-3 bars on good weather days. Screen shot directions in case you lose GPS and do your best to arrive before dark for check-in.
Fiber optic internet is now provided. Please make sure your cell phone is set to wifi calling for the duration of your stay. DVDs and a dvd player are also provided. Games, books and magazines are provided as analog entertainment options if you wish digitally detox during your stay.
I encourage YOU to unplug while you are here. Spend some time around the fire, make s’mores, have a picnic outside, bird watch, enjoy the visible constellations on clear nights and the sound of a full creek after a rain.
Pet Policy: One dog is permitted subject to approval and pet fee. I love dogs. Mine is like family. However, not all four legged friends are well-suited for this property. There are 12 chickens and 3 dogs who live on this property and several more dogs that visit frequently. Your dog must be friendly with other pets and humans. The chickens are kept in a fenced pasture, but some dogs may be able to jump the fence. For this reason, dogs are not allowed to roam freely, but must be closely supervised or leashed at all times. Dogs are not permitted to get into the creek (which is often dirty and muddy).
Canine guests must be potty-trained and well-behaved (no history of marking or accidents indoors, chewing on furniture or bedding, or scratching furniture or doors). They must be flea and tick treated. Dogs are not permitted to lay on the blankets (except for the dog blanket provided) or quilts provided for your stay. They are welcome to lay on the sheets and you are welcome to bring your own blankets for them. Dogs are not permitted to be left uncrated and unattended in the Tiny Barn.
Please note- that the guest who books is responsible for any damage done by a dog or human guests. Anyone bringing an unauthorized pet will be subject to a $250 fine and/or asked to leave the property immediately due to violation of policies/house rules. Lastly, please note that checkout time is firm unless an extension is arranged in advance.

About the host
Hosted by Renee Courtland

Follower of Christ- I go where He sends me. Former big city girl returned home to AL, animal lover who loves meeting new people. Life is stranger than fiction. Experiences > stuff.
I love to meet my guests when I am around, but also happy to respect your privacy. And I am always happy to provide local recommendations whether we meet in person or not.
One other person lives on the property and helps me manage it. We work opposite schedules so he will be around to assist, in the event it is needed, when I am not.
If I am here when you check-in, I’d love to meet you and spend 5-10 minutes showing you around the Tiny Barn. If I am not here or you simply prefer privacy, the House manual is fairly comprehensive in the quirks of the Tiny Barn (light switches, etc.).

Why they chose this property
Nestled in a beautiful valley full of small family farms you will see plenty of horses and cattle on your drive here including a cattle farm across the street from the entrance to Covenant Woodlands. Our TinyFarm is located in St. Clair County near the border of Shelby County (Vandiver/Sterrett) there are many activities nearby from Logan Martin Lake, Barber Motorsports Park, Talledega Speedway, parks galore, drive-in movie theater, vineyard tour and wine tastings. Camp Winnataska is about a 5 minute drive from us and Camp Cosby about a 15 minute drive. There are several wedding/event venues and horse farms where competitions are held nearby as well.
It’s a quick scenic backroads drive to Pell City, Leeds, Sylacauga, Vincent, Childersburg and Chelsea. Talladega and Birmingham are both about a half hour away.
Please check the guidebook for some highly recommended local activities, delicious meals and please feel free to ask me for additional recommendations.

What makes this property unique
The architectural and design/decor details as well as the amenities inside the TinyBarn are consistently what stands out most for the 100 + guests who have stayed here to date.
Second people love the property specifically the combination of the TinyFarm with some wooded trails. Many of my guests have enjoyed walking it and spending time outside on the rockers, roasting marshmallows by the fire and relaxing in the hammock.
