Located on the Western Coast of Cape Breton, Margaree Harbour Guest House is a fully winterized, open concept, 3-bedroom, 1-bath home that overlooks picturesque Margaree Harbour with easterly views to the Acadian village of Cheticamp & the Cape Breton Highlands. Margaree Harbour village is a leisurely 10-minute stroll, which includes the Calvin United Church, Laurence’s General Store & Post Office and, most importantly, a wonderful, sandy, underserved, beach.
Amenities - Margaree Harbour Guest House has been equipped to allow guests to cook, entertain and relax as though they were at home. All linens and towels are high thread count and quality with spares available. Washer & dryer, microwave, stove, oven and dishwasher are all available. Proper cutlery, table and stemware are also provided. The house has wireless internet, dvd player and flat-screen TV and a BBQ on the upper deck for year-round use, located off of the kitchen.
The Margaree is a world famous Atlantic Salmon river, with runs commencing in early June to the season’s close on October 31st. Trout season generally commences on April 15 – Sept 30th.
Fly Fishing - If you are new to the river or Atlantic Salmon fishing, we recommend hiring a local guide to get acquainted and increase the likely hood of success. Moreover, many local outfitters can also supply all required fishing gear to their sports.
Golf - Only 300m off the Cabot Trail, our Guest House is perfectly situated between the famed Cabot Links (30km West) and Le Portage (28km East) golf courses, while the first Atlantic Salmon holding pools, on the Mighty Margaree River, are only 8km away.
Beaches - The Northumberland Strait & Gulf of St. Lawrence offer Canada's warmest sea waters and the warmest north of Virginia, with water temperatures exceeding 23C (74F). The Margaree Harbour Beach is a ten minute walk and the most convenient to the Guest House. Whale Cove Beach is just a shot venture 3 km to the west on the Shore Rd, while the often secluded Chimney Corner beach is also 8 km to the west. To the east, the popular Plage St. Pierre and Cheticamp Island beaches are 28km away.
While staying at the Guest House, there are endless opportunities to pursue. Live Music, Ceilidh & Square Dancing at the Normaway Inn. whale watching tours from Cheitcamp, folk art and regional art exhibits throughout the Cabot Trail, scenic drives on the Trail and, if visiting in Autumn, the Celtic Colours Festival to name but a few.

Why they chose this property
As a repeat visitor to the area, primarily to salmon fish on the famous Margaree River, I have had the pleasure of renting a number of cottages over the past several years, including this one. When the opportunity was presented to own and share this with friends, family and other avid fisherman and those simply looking for a relaxing seaside getaway, I couldn't pass it up!
