What a beautiful property! Our group of 7 all loved it. The outdoor area right on the river is great. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed. Thanks to the owners for sharing their 2nd home with us.
This property was fantastic, I have stayed at others in the area and none compare to this one. Clean and ready when I got there although there was heavy rain changing to snow. The only improvement would be a gutter over the front door to mitigate getting soaked. Plenty of fishing in the area and trails to explore in the Jeep especially up to the Appalachian Trail!
We loved our visit to the mountains! The house was wonderful and we enjoyed playing on the river or just hearing it while we enjoyed coffee or roasting marshmallows. It was a peaceful getaway for the family.
The sound of the creek was the best. The outside deck had lots of comfortable chairs to sit and listen to the sound of the river.Very clean house and private.
We absolutely loved our stay along the Piney River! Reading on the hammock, enjoying a family meal on the deck and roasting marshmallow by the fire all with the sound of the babbling river made for a truly relaxing and enjoyable weekend
Very quiet, relaxing, peaceful. Small Kitchen, but well stocked. All appliances worked well. Good selection of bowls, cutting boards, sharp knives, pots and pans. We cooked in five evenings. I would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful home in a beautiful setting! Very comfortable beds and excellent amenities. Pleased that there’s wi-if now! Wish there is a better solution for trash disposal, as we had a hard time finding the dump and it was closed, even though the sign said it should be open. We had a great time and plan on returning for a 5th stay.
Everything was as described in listing. Beautiful property both inside and out. My family & I enjoyed the stay. Water was a little cool for us in September but our pup thoroughly enjoyed the river as well. The sound of the running water is very peaceful. The only suggestion I would make is adding a television in the master suite (personal preference) and add a few more towels & wash cloths. Great home. I highly recommend.
My friends and I loved this house and property. It was bigger than expected and the 5 total bedrooms were perfect to fit everyone. It’s right by a beautiful creek and it’s lovely to hear all times of the day. You can tell the hosts care about the property because it was well stocked with various things and has all sorts of items to do/play/use while staying there. I love the decorations in the house as well. It was unique and had lots of personality. I would love to stay here again in the future.
We loved our stay. There were a few minor issues that the owner said would be fixed soon. We loved the stream and natural setting as well as all the extras we found to keep the kids entertained - inner tubes, foosball, etc.
Beautiful property located on the Piney River. Home has all the conveniences needed to make your stay enjoyable. This was our second stay here and we plan to return again in the future. Only recommendation would be to update the pots and pans provided in the cabin. They have been well used. Do not change anything else!!
Best short get away for my family! Beautiful home and surroundings! We will be back!

My husband and I bought this house more than 25 years ago to share with our friends and family. Now that the children are grown, we choose to share it with others.
Why they chose this property
We chose this home for some remote off the grid location. The ambience of sitting outside, watching children play and swim in the river, well being adjacent to the George Washington national forest. Let your imagination run wild with all the amenities of a beautiful magical cottage.
What makes this property unique
Sitting on extensive deck with a campfire overlooking one of Virginia’s most beautiful trout streams the Piney River
