"Cassidy Lane by the Sea" is a 600 Sq Ft "Get-Away" Suite situated on high bank oceanside property overlooking the Bay of Fundy. The apartment for 2 has a generous Living/Dining area, a Fully Equipped Kitchenette (microwave & countertop burners but no stove with oven), a separate Bedroom with Queen Bed and a 3 Piece Bathroom (no tub).
For several years, our home on Maces Bay was enjoyed by new and regular returning guests (see reviews). However, during COVID, we stopped vacation rentals in Maces Bay when we retired our full-service B&B, in the Village of Gagetown NB, and moved ourselves into "Cassidy Lane by the Sea". We're now pleased to continue welcoming guests to our newly added, private Cassidy Lane by the Sea "Get-Away" Guest Suite ... a comfortable, smaller unit perfect for individuals or couples looking to relax in a beautiful scenic location.
The "Get-Away" Guest Suite is in a serene location surrounded by nature ... a safe area situated on 1.5 acres … offering magnificent views and sunsets that go on forever! As we now live full-time in the main area of the house, the Guest Suite has been designed for privacy ... guest entrance, parking and outdoor areas are entirely separate and apart from our areas. There is lots of parking.
Furnished with many antiques and original art, the Guest Suite is comfortable and welcoming ... great for those seeking to wind down and enjoy a laid back seaside location.
The kitchenette has a full-size fridge/freezer, a 2 burner countertop stove (no stove with oven), microwave and a variety of small kitchen appliances and equipment for guests’ convenience. Dishes, cutlery, linens and towels are supplied. A free washer & dryer is available by booking your time through us. There is Roku satellite television as well as WiFi internet (phone is not provided).
The beach directly in front of "Cassidy Lane by the Sea" is rocky and great for exploring. A 2-5 minute stroll, along the lane, takes you to a park-like Spit on the Lepreau Basin where you will find Maces Bay Lookout Point ... great for launching canoes and kayaks and a popular spot for photographers.
Another 5 min walk, in the other direction, takes you to a beautiful quiet sandy beach that stretches all along Maces Bay drive. If you prefer to spend time at New River Beach, New Brunswick's magnificent and most popular beach on the Bay of Fundy (and home of the TV series "Race Against the Tide"), it's only a 13 min drive from the house.
Amenities and groceries are a 30 min drive to Saint John but there is a local gas station/convenience store, within a 5 min drive, as well as a larger gas station and convenience store (with pizza, chicken & M&M Express pickup) within 10 mins. The US border is 45 mins away and many of New Brunswick's major sites are within a 2-3 hr drive.

The PERFECT Spot to Get Away From It All
From the time we made our reservations we knew we'd found a gem with this Maces Bay retreat. Our hosts, Barbara and Dwight, were absolutely terrific ... couldn't do enough for us and made us feel most welcome and at home but not intrusive. In fact, once we checked in and were shown around, we only heard from them with the occasional text to check that all was going well. The accommodations and amenities were very well thought out ... very clean and comfortable ... with lots of extra touches that made our stay even better. They even left groceries for our first morning breakfast ... eggs, bread, juices, milks, coffee and teas! As for the location ... it was spectacular and so peaceful with ocean and nature all around us. If you need a recharge and a true getaway we highly recommend this place ... and it's only 20 minutes to Saint John where you can explore this historical harbor city or the city's great Maritime market. A 5 star vacation rental all the way!

Holly and her family were excellent guests whom we'd welcome back anytime! We appreciated the easy communication and great condition in which they left the house. We heartily recommend them as vacation rental guests.
We enjoyed our stay immensely. The property was clean, well provisioned & as described in the listing. Convenient to west Fundy Bay attractions and about 2 1/5 hours from Hopewell Rocks., which was the area we wanted to explore. A quiet home base from which to recuperate & watch the tides. The booking process was easy, questions were answered promptly & check in was simple.

Thank you for taking the time to review 20 Cassidy Lane and for being such great guests. It was a pleasure meeting you both.
My husband and I couldn't be happier with the time we spent on Maces Bay. The house is well-represented in the photos and was spotlessly clean and situated on a quiet road, with fantastic views of the bay. It was more than enough space for the two of us (we used one bedroom and kept the other as a "dressing room"). The bedrooms might be a little small for some folks, but the bed was quite comfortable, and the rooms perfectly functional for our needs. The living room/dining area / kitchen was all open concept and quite roomy and comfortable. The porch extends the width of the house, so was the perfect spot for morning coffee, evening meals, or just relaxing! Barb and Dwight are consummate hosts--they've truly thought of everything! They greeted us on our arrival, and were easily available (and quick to respond) to us via text message during our stay when a question came up. The house had every possible thing we could've wanted--and more than we imagined it would...by far the most well-appointed property we've ever rented (and we've rented all around the world). The kitchen included basic spices, oil/vinegar, a large selection of teas, coffee, dishwashing soap, towels, cleaning supplies, and all of the utensils and cooking equipment anyone might need. The bathroom was well-stocked with soaps/shampoos, tissue, and even basic first aid items! The gas for the grill was even included (though we unfortunately didn't end up using it like we had originally planned to do). There were even maps/guide books of the area, umbrellas, games, music CDs, DVDs, and books at our disposal. So many thoughtful touches! It's only about 30-45 minutes to St. Andrew's or St. Stephen or St. John (or even Calais, Maine), and only 2.5 hours from Hopewell Rocks--which we were able to visit to see the "flowerpots" for both low and high tide in a day trip...as well as squeeze in a winery visit and an awesome dinner along the way back. We truly hope to be able to come stay here again in the not-too-distant future, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property to anyone we know who's headed to New Brunswick for a visit!

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. It was a pleasure meeting you and we'd happily welcome you back to 20 Cassidy Lane anytime!
It was a beautiful location. From the porch, you have a continuous view of the bay and the dramatic tide changes. The unit was very comfortable and well provisioned. It is a great place to kick back and disconnect.
Will I come back again? Definitely. Bard & Dwight are excellent hosts.

Love this property and our hosts!
This was our second stay at 20 Cassidy Lane and we plan to return again. The location is perfect for relaxing and a good base for excursions into Saint John (and beyond), and there's even good cycling right in hte area (we took a ride to Dipper Harbour, as well as on the bike path along the Saint John waterfront this year). And Barbara and Dwight are the perfect hosts!

Lovely, quiet escape
I stayed with my husband and teen son in August 2017. We were impressed with the beauty of the spot, the amenities in the home and the caring touches such as having bread, milk, eggs and butter in the fridge to use on the first morning. The beds were very comfy and with quality bedding. There was ample kitchen and bathroom gadgets and supplies and loads of books, movies, music and games to use. We watched the Fundy tides, bbq'd on the front deck and said hi to some foxes near the property. The one and only drawback which was unique to us was the location, as we were looking to a lot of activities closer to Fundy Park. But it was the perfect spot for exploring Saint John and St. Andrews by the Sea. While we never met Barbara and Dwight they were regularly in touch and making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended!

Peaceful location with great view of Maces Bay
The cottage was all that it was advertised to be. Well equipped and clean. Barbara the owner was unable to meet with us but was in contact with us by phone text and left detailed notes for the cottage, location of shopping and tourist sites. We enjoyed the quiet solitude of the cottage and great ocean views, spectacular sunsets and walks on the ocean floor.

Great, Comfortable Stay!!!
First of all, Barbara and Dwight are very kind, gracious people. They took the time to show us around, and have a nice chat. I cannot say enough nice things about the cottage owners.
The cottage and location were perfect!!! My wife and I were looking for peace, and found it. The grounds are quiet, and very well kept. The cottage is spotless, roomy, and very comfortable. All the necessities are there to enjoy your stay. My only regret is that we did not stay long enough. We will definitely be back next year for a longer stay. Five huge stars for Maces Bay!!! I would recommend this cottage without any hesitation!!!!

About the host
Hosted by Barbara Kordich
My husband Dwight and I are a friendly, responsible couple who take our greatest pleasure in making our guests feel at home when away from home. As former full service B&B owners in Victoria BC (The Window Box House - 9 years) and in the Village of Gagetown NB (Sixteen Doctors Hill B&B - 7 years), we have an innate understanding of what is important to people ... comfort & cleanliness, privacy & security ... when seeking a home-away-from-home to work or just kick back and enjoy.
In addition to running 5 Star B&Bs for over 16 years, Dwight was a transit operator for 35 years while Barbara was in management and fund development for the arts and in publishing. More recently, in their semi-retirement, Dwight & Barbara worked together as Floating Managers for luxury retirement communities throughout Canada and the USA. This work presented a wonderful opportunity to experience different parts of the country while enjoying the friendship, wisdom and perspective of countless seniors. It also got us hooked on a pared down lifestyle that allows for a variety of adventures. We love the magic of meeting so many different people along the journey!
Our interests include getting out in nature ... boating, sculling, kayaking, fishing and snapping photos. Barb is an avid reader who enjoys diving into family & community projects while Dwight is a lover of the great outdoors and a handyman extraordinaire!
