Altadena is a fabulous place to stay while visiting Los Angeles and Pasadena, Our place is walking distance to JPL/ NASA and only a 1.5 miles to the Rose Bowl. The house is built in 1951 and still has all original tiles and pine cabinets in the kitchen. It has a lovely gas stove and convection oven, microwave, toaster, pots and pans ect. The pine paneled, main bedroom (The Captain's Room) is surrounded on three side by windows with a queen bed and a glass writing desk which evokes Jules Verne. All the wood work is original and the furniture is vintage. The front bedroom has artistic flair and a large closet with a dresser. Every effort has been made to create an artistic, color-filled, sustainable environment that will charm you and inspire your creativity. A vintage sewing machine is even available for your use. There is an updated bathroom with a large walk in shower and a large living room with a beautiful fireplace, a comfortable sunny dining area the seats six and an extra room (the map room) which could be made up for an extra kiddo. There are front and back yards with orange trees and views of the nearby foothills. If you enjoy vintage charm, handmade artwork, unique decor that is still close to everything, has parking and lightening fast internet as well as a caring host please consider staying at our humble home. About the host
Hosted by kristina k staley
I am a high school art teacher who loves to travel, find art - make art and repurpose things. My husband and two kids moved to Altadena 10 years ago and love it. The weather, the people, the orange trees are lovely. We are lucky enough to also have a condo in Mammoth, and we are restoring a barn in Oregon so as we are not in Altadena year round, I decided to make it available to people visiting during the holidays or on weekends. When in town, my daughter and I stay in the back house studio so you might see us but we are very quiet and respectful neighbors.
Why they chose this property
We moved to Altadena for the schools and stayed for the neighbors. From the house you can easily walk around the corner to JPL and miles of trails. You can ride bikes or hike or ride a horse if you have one. You will see all sorts of people and modes of transportation. It is one of the most diverse, international and eclectic neighborhoods with grand historic homes and smaller homes all mixed together.
What makes this property unique
The proximity to every thing is great and inside the house a guest can see the effort to use sustainable materials and vintage pieces that match the age of the house. The house is very original. Many pieces of my decor have been gifted to me thru our local BuyNothing which makes my house feel more special to me. Knowing how many neighbors contributed to my house and helped fill it with love has been an important to me. I hope the guest feel the positive energy, and it helps them enjoy their visit to Altadena
