Please pet our goats as much as you like. They love the attention. They're names are as follows:

1. Dill (white with brown spots - the leader)
2. Sprout (largest black one with smaller head of white hair - the lover)
3. Pickle (smaller black one with thick head of white hair - the escape artist)
4. Bean (brown - the outcast)

You can pull fresh greens/weeds from around the property and they'll eat them from your hand. In the winter you can give them some hay from the coachhouse (white building next to the main house) or leaves from around the yard.

Also don't forget to say hi to the chickens! Their coop is towards the back of the property near the goat shack. Feel free to bring them some of food scraps you may have. Message me if you're interested in collecting eggs.

HOUSE RULES:
Do not enter goat pen or chicken coop. Do not open any gates to where the animals stay. You may pet the goats over the fence. If you open any doors, barn doors or windows, shut them! Seems obvious but you’d be surprised.

Do not enter elevator or tool/storage areas (signage posted)

Dogs are allowed. NO CATS. Please manage your dogs. Do not allow them on the furniture and if your dog sheds a lot please try to clean up the fur before you leave. No dogs in any of the bedrooms

Do not eat food in the bedrooms. IE no food upstairs. There is no exceptions. If it is found that you brought food upstairs you will be fined $100 or more. No pets should stay in the bedrooms and especially not in the beds. People have allergies, be compassionate to future guests needs.

Please report any damage to the property to owner so we can work together to fix. If damaged or stolen property is discovered, this will be reported and fines will be assessed.

Do not move or rearrange any furniture. If it is found rearranged and time is spent to move back to its original position then additional fees will apply.

If you move any bedding/pillows put those things back in the room you found them. It is not the cleaners responsibility to reorganize the house.

Do not add tape to the walls. If you want to make a “scene” for your event or wedding be smart about it. Tape on the walls can and likely will cause damage to the paint. This can be costly and you will be charged for the damage.

Take your shoes off. Especially on carpeted areas. If you spill or stain the carpet please clean it. If it is determined that you or one of your party is the cause of a stain you will be charged for carpet cleaning. This includes your dogs.

Clean the fridge out. We do not want your leftovers.

No parties are allowed. If you wish to bring guests in addition to the ones you have been approved for, you'll need to contact the owner to renegotiate. If it is found that you have brought additional guests you will be charged according to the fee structure outlined in the listing descriptions (3, 4 & 5 night minimums depending on guest count)

Memory Farm was the perfect setting for 4 generations to make memories. We loved the historical beauty of the farm house and barn. Thank you for being excellent hosts. We will miss Dill, Pickle, Bean and Spout!

We enjoyed spending time together as a family, but unfortunately our stay was impacted by a few significant issues. The biggest concern was the lack of adequate air conditioning. We stayed here in June and the home was miserably hot and uncomfortable (80 temps) at all times, especially at night, making it very difficult to sleep. The home is advertised as being air conditioned, but the AC unit was not working well, if at all, during our stay. If you are planning to stay here during the summer months, this is definitely something to be aware of.We also had trouble communicating with the host. We tried to contact him multiple times about the air conditioning issue before he finally responded. On the third day of our stay he did supposedly send someone out to fix it, but the issue was never resolved. The home itself has potential, but much better climate control and more responsivecommunication from the host would make for a much more enjoyable experience.

I received a call from the guests in the morning and returned the call within hours. This is not a hotel service, this is a 1840's farm. We had an AC tech to the farm the very next day. We are experiencing a heat wave in the area and our system was working extra hard to keep up The guests expectations of the farm are far too high and should consider staying at hotels in the future if they need immediate assistance and perfect temperature controls

Great place for family to just be together

The Goat House was the perfect place for our family of 11 people to stay. The property is spacious with plenty of nooks for conversation, play and of course fun petting and feeding the goats. The house was simply beautiful with a large family room, living room, dining room and kitchen. We could all hang out together or have space to spread out. Additionally the rooms where upstairs which allowed for quiet sleep if you needed a nap. I would highly recommend this property if you are a larger family group, or just friends who want and indoor and outdoor combo to relax at.

Wedding Central

We had 3 generations at the farm for a wedding for one of the youngest generation. The house was a wonderful place to stay & a great place for the wedding party to prepare. The bridesmaids loved enjoying the gardens, goats and chickens in their downtime. The photographer found numerous opportunities for stunning pictures of the bride, bridesmaids and family. it was an amazing place to prepare for the wedding. Thank you so much!!!

Amazing Experience!!

My sisters and I stayed at the house for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed this spacious, charming home. From the moment we arrived, we felt this was a special place. We hosted my niece's bridal shower is the "Memory Farm" barn and it could not have been more beautiful. The property was peaceful, charming and so different from a typical restaurant event. We were able to make it our own and share the day with our new goat pals who peeked through the window:) We had great communication throughout with our amazing host. I can't give a high enough review to the house and the property. Do not miss this experience!

Overall a great stay! It's a very cute property! We stayed with some of our bridesmaids and groomsmen for our wedding weekend. The goats were very friendly, house was clean and comfortable, and host was responsive. We were confused and thought the whole backyard was the goat pen, because those sneaky goats got out of their pen and were wandering in the bigger fenced area eating the flowers! The host responded promptly to let us know it was the backyard and we could enjoy the space. They said they would come to check on the goats later that day, but they ended up not needing to because the goats had their fill and walked themselves back into their pen! Only had a couple downsides--a closet door fell off, and we were glad we didn't have a full 14 guests because it would've been hard to fit 14 adults. The couch listed in the main bedroom could really only be a sleeping space for a toddler.

About the host

Your host

Host profile image
I reside in downtown Batavia, IL just 15 minutes east of the farm. I am a passionate outdoorsman and love our beautiful planet. This farm has been an opportunity to showcase that love by breathing life back into the nearly 200 year old buildings located on the property, to care for the adopted goats and chickens who live there and to grow vegetables and fruits that allow my family to become more self-sustainable

Why they chose this property

I chose Kaneville because it's only 15 minutes from my house in Batavia, IL and because it's close enough to Chicago for its residents and the surrounding areas to enjoy the country life

What makes this property unique

It's nearly 200 years old and is home to 4 goats and 11 chickens!
