About this property
The Aspen Chateau. A Bright & Boho 4BR Family Retreat.
The Aspen Chateau is a 2 story, 4 bedroom townhouse nestled among a grove of aspen trees in Mammoth Lakes. Our home is an end unit, with no one above or to the left with a large wrap around deck. We are located in a quiet complex with a large grassy area next to our home. The complex offers an indoor sauna and hot tub for soaking, and a pool that is open during the summer months.
On the entry level are three bedrooms featuring king beds in two rooms, and a bunk room for the kids with 4 twin beds. The primary bedroom has it's own 55 inch smart TV and en suite bathroom. In the bunk room, the kids also have their own 55 inch smart TV, air hockey and darts (soft tip).
The bunkroom and secondary downstairs bedroom share a hallway bathroom with a sink area separated from the shower and toilet by a door so those who need to get ready don't need to wait for those making use of the shower or tub.
Upstairs, you will find the living room, dining room, kitchen and 4th bedroom with another king bed. There is also another full bathroom located in that hallway.
The living room has a 55 inch smart TV and pellet stove. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare a home cooked meal. In addition, there is a propane gas BBQ out on the deck. The dining table seats 8 easily and there are additional chairs and TV trays for more seating options.
A brand new pellet stove in the living room is available for ambience and warmth. The stove does a wonderful job heating the home and we rarely use living room and dining room heaters, preferring to make use of the pellet stove. Each bedroom has it's own heater as well. The bunkroom, primary bedroom and upstairs bedroom use electric heaters with fans that are controlled by knobs either on the unit or on the wall near the door.
The secondary bedroom downstairs uses radiant heating. This occurs with coils in the walls and ceiling that warm up and heat the room. It is controlled by a knob on the wall at the door. You won't hear anything turn on or feel a fan, but it works well and keep you comfortable through the night.
Our home has free high speed WiFi with an excellent connection throughout. A small washer and dryer is located downstairs in the entry closet for your convenience. Complimentary body wash, shampoo and conditioner are provided in each bathroom.
There is parking for two cars right in front of our home. Guests will be provided with a code to enter the home before arrival.
The community spa and pool also require a code to enter. This changes periodically for security reasons and will be provided in the welcome binder in the kitchen. Please note that access to the community spa and pool is not guaranteed. We have no control over periodic maintenance which may render it unavailable for short periods of time.
This is a NO SMOKING/NO PET/NO INDOOR SHOES home. Our GUEST LIMIT is 10 people. This limit is not a personal preference. It is a condition of our permit with the Town of Mammoth Lakes and a violation of that limit could lead to us facing fines, suspension or even revocation of our permit.
WINTER WARNING: Please note that Mammoth is a high alpine destination where the weather can be severe and change rapidly. All guests should bring tire chains with them and check driving conditions regularly. Any road closures/delay caused by winter storms are outside of our control and will not result in a refund.
WINTER PARKING: During winter, after it snows a plow will come through the complex to move the snow off the road. The snow is pushed to the open space adjacent to our home. As a result, any cars parked in front will have to move to allow the plow to finish its work. This usually happens in the morning following a fresh snow. If it snows during the night, you can park on the other side of the unit on the right side of that drive into the complex. Otherwise, you will have to wake and move the cars in the morning when you hear them start their work. We apologize for this inconvenience and please note, this is only necessary after it snows and plowing is required.
USER OWN RISK: Dart board use, community spa/jacuzzi and snow play outside our home is at guests' own risk. Owner assumes no liability for guests' use of these items or activities. The darts are soft tip and are stored in the dart cabinet on the wall which is out of reach of infants and toddlers.
When you are ready to explore the splendor of Mammoth you will find much within a short walk. There are two shuttle stops that can take you to the the Village and Main Lodge, each stop less than a block away. There is also a town trolly that stops at various points along the way to explore the shops and restaurants. We are located 5 mins from Eagle Lodge, 10 mins from Canyon Lodge, and less than 10 mins from The Village.
Within a quarter mile is the new ice skating rink, the bowling alley, movie theater, Starbucks, and grocery store. Several popular restaurants are just around the corner as well, including Distant Brewery, Salsa's Mexican food, Gojira Ramen & Sushi, Noodle-Ly, Giovanni’s Pizzeria, The Stove and The Mammoth Tavern.
While everyone is familiar with Mammoth’s world class skiing, hopefully guests will also find time to explore beyond the slopes and visit one of the many beautiful hikes, biking trails, or lakes this special place has to offer. Whether you are looking for outdoor adventure or just some peaceful relaxation, we hope you will find it while staying at The Aspen Chateau.

About the host
Hosted by Jeff
We are a family of four who loves the outdoors. We enjoy skiing, snowboarding, fishing, hiking and golfing. We spend most of our time in San Diego, California, but get up to our Mammoth home as often as time permits. It is our pleasure to be able to share our home with VRBO guests so that they can also experience this wonderful and unique corner of the world.
Why they chose this property
Mammoth Lakes is a special place that offers so much to those who value the outdoors and the splendors of nature. It is most famous for the world class skiing, but after the snow melts, there is so much more to explore. Miles of hiking, dozens of lakes and plenty of steams and creeks to explore. Mountain biking as renowned as the skiing and two wonderful golf courses come alive during summer. All this set among such spectacular scenery that many of Ansel Adams photos were taken here. The Devil's Postpile monument and Rainbow Falls are two of the most notable summer attractions. If fall foliage is your thing, then you will be amazed by the changing colors during fall.
What makes this property unique
We chose this home because it is a rare 4 bedroom unit that suits our family well. We also loved the location that allows us to walk to so many of the local restaurants and attractions. Morning or sunset walks along the nearby trail that meanders along the Mammoth Creek is always a treat.
