Fantastic rental! We enjoyed the hot tub, eating our meals al fresco, a refreshing dip in the river after sauna, smores, and the gorgeous views. The house has everything you need for a proper getaway.
The overall quality of our stay was superb. The appointments in the kitchen were well thought out.The outdoor amenity area was excellent. The outdoor bbq was over the top, and the hot tub and sauna added to the quality of our stay. The owner was receptive to the few requests we had and resolved them quickly.
This is a beautiful property! The house is spacious but still feels cozy. The kitchen was well stocked (including tons of spices). Beds were comfortable. Our kids spent hours at the swimming hole in the river. Owners were attentive but not hovering. We loved our stay and highly recommend.
Wow, what an absolutely fantastic place to stay! We stayed for 6 nights and easily could have stayed for 6 more. Lots of our time was spent down at the river (there's a short walking path-3mins that takes to a good spot). We put in a couple of chairs and the kids loved jumping into the swimming hole to cool off. Spent a day on a boat, rented from Koocanusa Resort & Marina, which is a short 45 mins drive from the house. If you've got a 4x4 there's an off-road path that will take you to a very sandy beach on Lake Koocanusa (we used the satellite view of Google Maps to find it). Evenings were spent in the hot tub and playing games in the gazebo. We had two families stay and there was more than enough room for all of us. The kids loved having the run of the basement. Doug and Tiffany were great hosts. They were very responsive and eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible, and even asked for feedback on any ways to make improvements. We will definitely be back!

Thank you for the great review and being a respectful and courteous group of two families. That is exactly how we are designing The River Hangout for families getting together and making new memories. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting your group. See you again soon. Being new to the nightly rental program and new construction projects through the fall and winter, with many more amenities being added, we expect next year to be a spectacular rental season. Just a correction on your review: Abayance Bay and Marina is just 4 miles away on Highway 37.
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful home on the Tobacco river! The property was amazing with views all around, birds soaring overhead, and the river just steps away. The property had some nice updates and more than enough room for our family of four. The outdoor kitchen area was spectacular with everything you need to cook, and sit back and relax. The hot tub was something we enjoyed every evening. The heat lamps were a nice way to stay warm on cool nights.
We enjoyed fishing for trout on the river and relaxing on the property. There is a nice lawn on the river side and we had fun playing outdoor games in this space. The gazebo was also a nice place to relax, and listen to the nature surrounding.
The hosts were some of the best we have rented from! Doug & Tiffany were very responsive in advance of our trip and during our stay. We know they did a lot of work to have the house ready for our family.
There were plenty of fun activities in the area including boat & atv rentals, hiking trails, or visiting Lake Koocanusa. Within an hour or two there are other areas worth visiting. One is Libbey to the south and the Kootenai Falls. This was a beautiful scenic drive along the Kootenay River. Whitefish and Kalispell are nearby and Glacier National Park as well. There's plenty to see in this area!
We highly recommend visiting and we hope to be back someday!
