Trip to Macon to visit family
Enjoyed the house. Very lovely in a beautiful neighborhood. Large fenced in backyard for our 2 dogs to enjoy. Only negative comment was there was no toilet paper. Luckily my wife had packed a few rolls.

Great house and location!
The house was very clean with four large bedrooms, a huge living/dining room and big family room. The house itself is a 5+ star! However, I had to reach out to management by email and phone to get the access code to unlock the door when we were just two hours from the house. But the REAL reason I I can only give four stars….NO HAIR DRYER?!?! The site states there is a hair dryer, but no. I noticed a prior review mentioned the same. I couldn’t take a shower because of this. Please send someone to Walmart and grab a $20 hair dryer. Other than that, the place is great, the neighborhood is great and I would stay there again

DO NOT RENT THIS
I rented this space to have a team meeting and enjoy time with friends. I did not receive anything from the host before I arrived after sending a message as a reminder. When I arrived, still have not heard from the host. Called, messaged and texted several time. Contacted VRBO support, they could not reach her. After several attempts the next day, I had to rebook to another location. I am back home and still nothing from the host. VRBO support was very helpful.

Why they chose this property

Shared from the Shirley Hills Neighborhood Association, the below is quoted:

"Established in 1921, Shirley Hills in Macon, GA is a beautiful and tranquil community. Nestled on the east side of the Ocmulgee River (affectionately called the “right side” by residents). Shirley Hills derives its name from the rolling hills that encompass it. A natural tree canopy makes it a haven for birds, wildlife and nature lovers alike. Located in close proximity to both downtown and Mercer University, it is geographically desirable for those who desire both quiet and convenience.

The homes of this historic neighborhood are some of the finest in the southeast, rivaling the architecture found in some of the best neighborhoods in Atlanta. Famed architects like Neel Reid, Elliott Dunwody and Ellamae Ellis League designed several homes in the neighborhood. Shirley Hills has been featured in publications like Architectural Digest, and was recently a feature on the ADAC sponsored architectural tour.

The Shirley Hills Neighborhood is a vibrant and diverse community, actively involved in enhancing our neighborhood and our city. We are eager to welcome you and invite you to see why so many have decided to call Shirley Hills their home!"

Shirley Hills Neighborhood Association, quoted, Regarding the neighborhoods Jackson Springs Park:

"The Shirley Hills neighborhood park was honorably named after General Andrew Jackson, as he was known to often camp in this area with his fellow troops, the Tennessee Volunteers. A nature lover’s paradise, this park is filled with majestic stone bridges, magnificent stone benches, a mossy brook, and beautiful perennials and evergreens. Shirley Hills residents may also plant trees in memorial of loved ones in the park. The months of January and February are a great time to catch the old-fashioned camellias in bloom underneath the hundred year-old hardwood trees. Open to the public, this is a great outdoor retreat for your pet or have a relaxing picnic lunch.

What makes this property unique

Location is EVERYTHING. We are in one of the most beautiful historic neighborhoods and designated bird sanctuary. With one acre, lots of space for kids and pets. Deer literally walk in our yard, yet we are 2 miles from down town Macon. We are within 2 -3 miles of Ocmulgee Mounds Historic Park and the 13 mile Ocmulgee Heritage Trail at Spring Street (13 mile bike path, through the Parks, 3 historic grave yards, 1 mile from Amerson River Park **and ** our neighborhood has its own Park with walking paths, a creek and places to sit, rest or picnic .

**Parking is no object. One advantage is we have plenty of private parking, you can easily Uber or Lyft into town, and the Spring Street entrance to the Ocmulgee River Heritage Trail (there is parking there, or ride the 2 miles to the Spring Street entrance...for experience bikers this is doable, but with kids, I would suggest park at the parking lot.)

The music scene in Macon is world class, the likes of Otis Redding, Little Richard and Allman Brothers -- This of course barely scratches the surface-- we have a great bulletin board full of local music attractions, venues, museums, movie theaters, and out door activities from tubing to kayaking on the Ocmulgee River (within a mile of our house!), riding your bike on the 13 mile bike trail along the river...and Pickleball! Take a RockCandy Music Tour or rent a bike, kayak, or inter-tube.

Our driveway is also pretty big, plenty of room to park a boat or mid-size RV, or 3-4 cars.

3 king rooms, 1 queen. The half bath is shared between 1 king and 1 queen room.

1 king/master bedroom has a private bath and laundry with iron and hairdryer. The final bedroom is a King. There are two full baths.

Each of the 3 king rooms has a private desk/working area with charging stations.

There is a 40 inch smart tv in the master king bedroom along with the living area (in addition to the 60 inch in the den).
