ADDITIONAL SPACES:

You can add the Guest Cottage and/or the Schoolhouse to your reservation for an additional fee. The Guest Cottage is just a 2-min walk down the grassy hill from the Main Farmhouse. It includes 1 king bedroom, 2 queen bedrooms, and a loft with 3 single beds, and 3 additional full bathrooms. The Schoolhouse has 2 additional bedrooms (1 full bedroom and one loft with 3 twin beds) and no bathroom, so guests will need to share the bathrooms in the Main Farmhouse. Please send us a message to inquire about adding these spaces to your reservation!

The property also includes a brand new hot tub comfortable for 6-7 adults, a large Springfree trampoline, tree swings, patio dining furniture, Weber grill, bocce ball court, large wooden picnic table, boxwood garden, and plenty of games and sports equipment, both indoors and out.

This is the perfect spot for a gathering of friends and family of all ages!

GUEST ACCESS:

You will have access to our entire 70+ acre property! We invite you to explore and enjoy. Several creeks, the South Rockfish River, and Blue Toad Hard Cider are all within an easy walk. Nearby, the Rockfish Valley Loop Trail system and Wintergreen Resort offer miles and miles of well-maintained hiking trails. The drive beyond our farm is a private road used by other neighbors, so please do not go further up the hill beyond the farm entry sign.

We do have about 20 Scottish Highland cattle and 7 miniature donkeys, so please check with us before entering any pastures currently in use by animals.

NATURE: High View is a historic farm, so with that comes some proximity to nature. The home will be meticulously professionally cleaned before your arrival, but it's possible that you may be visited by insects or other small creatures.

Here in the mountains, we regularly see wild rabbits and deer outside, and you might also see snakes, coyotes, or even a black bear. (We still haven’t seen one, though!)

For those who love star-gazing, the farm is delightful—dark and quiet at night in the country, and the summertime fireflies are breathtaking! However, this also means that you might need a flashlight if arriving after dark, or to walk between the Main Farmhouse and Guest Cottage after the sun goes down.

ACCESSIBILITY:

For those with mobility concerns, the farm might be challenging at times.

A short walk (~200 yards) on a brick pathway leads from the parking area to the Main Farmhouse. To enter and then access bedrooms, you must go down and then up a few stairs.

If you are staying in the Guest Cottage or want to use the hot tub, you also must be comfortable walking up and down a grassy hill.

Perfect Place for Friends & Kiddos
We loved the ranch! We had a group of 7 adults and 3 kids around the ages of 3, and it was the perfect spot for all of us. The kids loved being able to run around outside while looking at the animals. When it was time to come in, there was not shortage of games and toys for them to entertain themselves with. The adults loved that they could burn so much energy, and that we were close to so many vineyards, wineries, etc. The house itself (just the main house, we didn't the other houses available) was clean, had every tool we needed in the kitchen, and worked well for both kids and adults in terms of sleep arrangements. I highly recommend and will definitely be back in the future!

Amazing getaway!!!
We loved our stay at this amazing and very unique get away!!! The house was very clean- comfortable bedding and linens etc/ The property is amazing- the views all around were beautiful and I loved that we were tucked away on our own property/ no neighbors or civilization close by (there was a business at the entrance to the property but the way the land is rolling and trees it is hardly visible) It was very quiet and beautiful!! The house was amazing- we loved the unique home and the warm wood stove in the fireplace! The kitchen and dining room and den were in the lower level which seemed unique but it was just wonderfully quaint!! We loved the activities in the barn bc we were there in a very cold day so we were able to get out and enjoy the basketball/foosball and ping pong- We also enjoyed bocce ball w the amazing views! We would definitely want to return!!!

Both my husband and I graduated from UVA, and we love Charlottesville! After traveling around the world with the Army, we returned here to raise our 5 children. We value quiet and cleanliness, and we do our best to be excellent and conscientious hosts. We're excited to welcome you to the area!

Why they chose this property

We looked for years for a farm in this corner of Virginia. We loved the liveliness and beauty of the valley contrasted with the Blue Ridge Mountains. Restoring and updating this historic farm has been a labor of love, and we are so excited to share it with you!
