The Angell House, located in the Willard Square area of South Portland, sits just a quarter of a mile from Willard Beach, a sandy beach cove buffeted by the trademark rocky crags and cliffs of the North Atlantic coastline, and three miles from Portland and the historic Old Port District. Willard Square, a quaint residential neighborhood of hip-roofed houses and eclectic bungalows, boasts beautifully restored homes predominately built in the early twentieth century, along with much older historic landmark homes, and cozy beach cottages dotted along rambling streets that run to the beach. Affectionately termed SoPo, this area of South Portland has become one of the most desirable neighborhoods to live, visit, and play in the greater Portland area. Great restaurants and fun boutiques are sprouting up everywhere as this neighborhood revival continues.
The Angell House is an American four square built in the late 19th century featuring a large open floor plan on the first floor. The house was completely renovated in 2013-14 and the interior design takes the best advantage of natural light and spaciousness. The home sits on a beautifully landscaped plot of land with a large back yard. The back deck and grassy lawn make it ideal for families as well as for anyone who appreciates outdoor backyard privacy.

Cousin Weekend

Angell house surpassed all our expectations! We were 6 women away for a long weekend. The house was spotless and had plenty of room for everyone. Walking distance to the beach, a wonderful bakery and ice cream parlor and several restaurants. I’ll find a way to go back !

Great house in a great location!

We had 6 ladies from all over New England stay here for a college reunion and we had a great time and plenty of space. The beds were comfortable, there were a ton of towels, the kitchen is well stocked with quality cookware and the house is clean and bright. In the morning we would walk five minutes around the corner to Scratch bakery (fantastic place) and then walk over to the beach to see all dogs playing. It’s an easy 10 minute drive into Old Port. Would definitely come back and recommend.

This home was everything!

This home was charming and we had the BEST experience of any VRBO or Airbnb rental we've ever had. They have thought of everything! The kitchen is stocked for a professional chef, the home is nicely decorated, the beds are amazingly comfortable. There are charging stations for phones and electronics, toys and a safety gate at the stairs for children, an adorable front porch and a beach within walking distance. The bathroom tile floors are heated and the linens and accessories are very well thought out and of amazing quality. When we return to Portland, we will definitely plan on staying here again! Thank you for an amazing experience!

Definitely recommend renting this house

Beautiful home. It is nicely decorated. We rented it for our family to have a place to stay when we attended one of our children's medical school graduation. All the bathrooms are remodeled. Great kitchen with plenty of dishes, silverware, utensils, bowls and pans. Plenty of seating on the pack porch for dinning. There are thoughtful touches throughout the house to make your stay convenient. Wireless speaker, power cubes in the bedroom to plug in phones, two refriderators and plenty of towels. It is only a ten minute drive to downtown.

It was a beautiful place. Best sleep I've had in a long time.

The place was super clean and very accommodating. The place was so beautiful it gave me great ideas on how I'd want my house to be lol. I was also impress with how they thought of everything. Each room came with a little heater for people that were cold nature which was us since we were trekking it from NC in the dead of winter. The bathrooms even had step stools for those who were vertically challenged. And the location was perfect. I don't leave reviews very often but this one I just had to share.

The Perfect House

We loved it! My parents and I stayed at the Angell house this past weekend for my wedding. It ended up being the most relaxing getaway from all the commotion. I got ready for the wedding on the top floor on Saturday and it was perfect. The house had everything we needed and was in the most amazing location. Thank you again - we will definitely be back to visit the Angell house.

Amazing! Clean and SO Comfortable!

I must write a review here because this home was so wonderful and SO clean, which is important to us. All furniture, beds and linens excellent quality and extremely comfortable. Rooms spacious, ope, and with lots of natural light. Kitchen had everything you need and more. We cook so to have sharp knives, good utensils, dishes, and cook ware was awesome. Located close to everything you need. We will definitely return to this home!

Perfect family house for an extended stay!

We booked this beautiful location a couple months out for my niece’s wedding in November. The 4 bedrooms were a PERFECT size for us. My 20-year old college student daughter was apprehensive about staying in someone else’s house (!) and encountering other people’s unclean surfaces. Everyone should be happy to know she gave it a 2 thumbs up approval! Everything was spotless and organized. The house has ample windows and the sunlight pouring in each morning was a perfect accompaniment to a cup of coffee. Everything we wanted to access was within a 10 minute drive, including Whole Foods and a plethora of restaurants and bars. The last day of our stay, we even cooked lobster and invited family who were staying elsewhere over. The 10 person table accommodated us perfectly. A little too perfect because we may have left a little too much garbage (sorry!). I left a day early and forgot to let everyone know to tidy up a bit. When I reached out to the Amanda to ensure everything was ok after our departure she let me known but told us not to worry and didn’t make a big fuss. My elderly brother and sister-in-law arrived a bit before checking and I asked Amanda if they could enter so they wouldn’t have to sit in the car and once again she was quick to respond and accommodating. This was my 1st VRBO experience and it went so well I’m currently staying in another VRBO property in Jacksonville right now! Our stay was a perfect 10!

Wonderful Experience!

Our stay exceeded expectations and the house fit everyone's needs which included comfortably sleeping 8 adults, 1 infant, and 1 toddler. Couldn't have worked out better. Beds had clean linens and were extremely comfortable, kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and everything you could need to cook, grill or make a good pot of coffee. We were in town for a family wedding and hope to stay again down the road.

Home for Portland wedding

Beautiful House!

My family and I stayed here for our short stay in Portland and it was absolutely beautiful! The house has 2 showers and 1 powder room so for 9 people and a baby, there was plenty of space. It was about a 10 minute drive to downtown Portland, walking distance to Scratch Bakery for bagels and coffee and ice cream shop right across the street. The location was perfect, the house was clean and had all of the amenities we needed plus some. Would recommend this house to anyone!

Fantastic!

We shared a two week holiday with dear friends from Wales. Four adults in this beautiful home with room to spare. The house is definitely set up to accommodate this and more. Easy walking distance to Willard Beach, Scratch Bakery, Terracotta Pasta, Elsmere's for great bbq, Enios for delicious Italian and more. 10 minutes into Portland by car or walk to Willard Square and catch the No.21 bus for $1.50 each way. So convenient. We loved it all. Thank you.

Loved everything about this stay!!

This was an awesome house, in a great location, in a perfect little town!! Couldn't have asked for anything better! The house was totally accommodating, very clean and well stocked and the proximity to the beach and downtown Portland was perfect! My husband and I travelled from Seattle with our daughter and her boyfriend. We loved having the house rather than 2 hotel rooms. Loved the porch swing and we cooked steaks on the BBQ one night and sat on the back deck under the stars! Would totally recommend this place and will definitely come back again!! Tolles Haus in sehr guter Lage zum Strand und zu Ausflugszielen

Das Haus ist etwa 2013 renoviert worden und besticht durch eine gute Aufteilung und vollständige Einrichtung. Es liegt in einer ruhigen Strasse fussläufig zum Strand Willard Beach. Andere Strände und Attraktionen sind schnell und gut zu erreichen. Ab und an liegt es in der Einflugschneise des Jetport, was uns gar nicht gestört hat. Deswegen waren wir auch schon zweimal dort.
