THE PROPERTY When you arrive you will follow Prickly Pear Creek up the mountain. It is likely you will see deer or elk on your drive up. You will pass the horseshoe pits and the Little Black Shed, where you will find plenty of chopped firewood for nights spent around the Solo stove fire pit. The A-frame has a patio with 4 lounge chairs, 2 Adirondack rocking chairs, hot tub, grill and gas fire pit. A few feet away near the pine trees you will find a bench, and table with 4 chairs surrounded by café lights hung in the trees. Just down the hill is the wood fire pit with 4 Adirondack chairs and 4 stumps for tables or additional seating.
THE HOME I fell in love with A-Frames many years ago, and wanted to design a retreat that would feel modern and luxe while providing that Montana big sky vibe. Inside is a thoughtfully designed home meant to maximize space in gathering areas and offer a unique lofted bedroom experience. There is room for everyone to gather as well as small private spaces for alone time.
LIVING SPACES The A-frame has an open vaulted living room and kitchen perfect for gathering to visit, eat, watch a movie or pass the time with several board/card games and puzzles. There is a loveseat and 2 barrel chairs with additional seating in the garage if needed for a party of 6. Enjoy your favorite movie on a 50” smart TV with access to your preferred streaming platforms or pair your phone to the bluetooth lantern speaker and enjoy your playlist. The French doors open to the outdoor patio. We recommend taking your shoes off to help keep the floors clean & dry during rainy, muddy or snowy conditions. The floors are heated! We provide a coat rack, boot rack & shoe mat to help keep the space comfortable. You will also have access to all cleaning supplies and a washer/dryer with detergent & dryer sheets to help you maintain your space during your stay.
KITCHEN Adjacent to the living room is the kitchen with 4 counter stools and a high bar table with 3 chairs. The whiskey barrel art piece in the kitchen was handcrafted by local wood artist Emily Nelson. Appliances include: electric stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, freezer with ice maker, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, blender, hand mixer, slow cooker, instant pot & air-fryer as well as cooking & dining essentials + stemless wine glasses, champagne flutes, Moscow mule and coffee mugs. We provide salt, pepper, spices, olive oil/vinegar, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apple cider and microwaveable popcorn. This cabin is on a septic system; it cannot handle food scraps, or grease. There is a basket in the kitchen sink drain to stop food from going down; empty this basket into the trash as needed and at the end of your stay.
BEDROOMS Each bedroom has a window for natural light and blackout shades for great sleep. All rooms are intentionally TV free, designed as a retreat from screens with soft and snuggly mattresses & linens. Every room has 2 waffle robes for hot tub trips, 4 towels, a luggage rack & bedside charging ports. Feel free to use the towels for hot tub use.
The Fawn Room: Queen 10 inch memory foam mattress with 2 pillows per person. Featuring the adorable Peekaboo Deer art piece that was created by local artist, Jeni Bateman. This room has a large closet where we keep the ironing board, playpen, highchair and other cabin items. There is still plenty of room for your luggage to fit in the closet. This bedroom is VERY small and cozy with a slanted ceiling on one side and just enough room to fit a small side table on each side of the bed.
The Fox Room: Queen 10 inch memory foam mattress with 2 pillows per person. The closet in this room is smaller than the Fawn room to accommodate for the in-floor heating unit. We love the little fox print that hangs on the utility door. There is still room to store luggage in the closet. This bedroom is VERY small and cozy with a slanted ceiling on one side and just enough room to fit a small side table on each side of the bed.
The Loft: King 12 inch memory foam mattress with 2 pillows per person. The loft has a sitting area with 2 wingback chairs and a table with lamp - perfect for cuddling up with a book or taking in the mountain views while sipping your favorite beverage. The loft provides a great vantage point for observing the herd of elk and deer that frequent the mountain behind the A-Frame. Binoculars provided! There is a blackout shade on the back window but the loft is open to the rest of the home. If you are staying with others, the loft is not a private or quiet bedroom. There is a privacy screen for changing and hanging your clothes. There is no baby gate for the stairs and the loft is a 12 foot drop to cement floor. Small children and infants must be supervised at all times.
BATHROOM The bathroom is located on the main floor. It is small but functional with a shower – no bathtub. Full size professional hair dryer, cotton pads, Q-tips and makeup towels are provided along with Public Goods shampoo/conditioner and body wash. We also offer additional amenities you may have forgotten to pack. Please note that the bathroom fan is very quiet and the cabin is very small. We have a white noise machine available for moments when you might want a little more background noise. This cabin is on a septic system. Do not flush hygiene products, wipes, or excessive tissue, EVEN ONES MARKED AS FLUSHABLE, as this will cause a blockage and render all plumbing unusable. Guest access Guests have access to the entire cabin & garage with the exception of a locked supply cabinet. Feel free to explore the 20 acre property by foot or snowshoe. This is bear country - as you are exploring our property, be mindful of your surroundings, make noise and carry bear spray, especially in the spring and fall.
ATV’s or dirt bikes must stay on the main driveway/road only. There are multiple ATV trails that you can ride to from the A-frame. We recommend Tizer Lakes, Park Lake, Boulder Tunnel, or a day trip around Tizer loop to explore multiple abandoned mines. We are happy to provide more directions for great riding trails. Please do not cross fence lines onto surrounding private property.
Guests can park in the garage unless we need to temporarily park the tractor there for snow removal. The garage is big enough for a crew cab long box truck w/doors open. Guests are welcome to utilize the garage to store bikes, coolers, and other outdoor gear. Please do not roll or drag coolers across the A-Frame floor. There are hooks in the garage to hang snow clothes and other gear as space in the A-Frame is limited. Sled and snowshoes provided.
*There is ample parking for trailers (horse, ATV, motorcycle) at the lower parking spot near the property line. Please do not pull trailers up to the A-frame.

We Wouldn't Change A Thing!
This is hands down our favorite Aframe cabin we have ever stayed in! There was not a single detail missed! Then, you add in the two fire pit areas, an awesome hot tub and views for days and you really have it all! It doesn't hurt that the host was incredibly friendly and very responsive. We hope to return here time and time again and couldn't recommend this place enough. Add this to place to your list and you can thank us later!
Fantastic stay! The property was very clean, cozy, and exactly as described in the listing. The views were beautiful and the private location with no nearby neighbors made it especially relaxing. The amenities made it feel like a true five-star experience. Highly recommend!
You want to decompress. This is the place. Your host is there for you every step of the way. The cutest little mountain retreat I've ever been too. We all had a fantastic time. And the views. What a way to wake up. We enjoyed ourselves even on rainy days. It was incredible and very hard to leave.

Fun, beautiful, peaceful, relaxing
Our stay at the A-frame was everything we could hope for and more. It’s so intentionally put together with the most beautiful atmosphere. Everything you need, clean and simple, absolutely perfect.
Very private setting. Cabin was very clean and had all necessary amenities plus some. The hot tub was clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again.
Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Beautiful aframe tucked away and private. Host was wonderful to work with. Everything was easy. Easy checkin and directions for everything available. Cutest little place and sweet little welcome gift! Would 100% recommend for small group getaway, family stay or romantic getaway.
The host was welcoming and very responsive. The place was perfectly curated, with just the right aesthetic and every amenity you could need. The view of the sunrise and sunset was exquisite, and the wildlife around added to the experience. The place was clean and well kept and had everything we could need. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, the fireplace was cozy, the hot tub was high quality, and the whole experience was a 10/10. We have recommended this place to our friends and family and we haven’t even gotten home yet!
This is probably the best Vrbo I’ve ever stayed at. Everything was accurate, amenities were perfect, views were incredible and Tenae was so easy to communicate with. Would absolutely stay again!

PERFECT GETAWAY
This cabin is everything you've dreamed and more!!! We had the most amazing experience and the host has literally thought of everything! This is a true Montana gem.
This place is MAGICAL! My hubby and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and it was stunning. Check-in process was easy. Our host even had a lil gift bag and a “Happy Anniversary” designed cookie. The hot tub was so nice. We got a fire going in the outdoor fire pit and just relaxed and enjoyed the tranquility of the property. Inside was immaculate. So much attention to detail and flawlessly decorated. We were really sad to leave.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place is quiet, secluded and beautiful. The owners went above and beyond providing us with every amenity possible to accommodate our stay. We will be back and we are also recommending it to all our friends and family!

The perfect place to get away
We had the best time staying at the Little Black A Frame. It is tucked away in the mountains and has the most beautiful views as well as privacy. It is immaculately presented inside and out and has every single thing you could think of or need. Our Bernedoodle Roy absolutely loved his stay too. We will be back!

Weekend Getaway
We have been to the A-frame three times to date and certainly will not be our last visit. It’s so quiet and peaceful. Tenae has by far been the best host we’ve ever encountered and you can tell she has put her heart and soul into the A-frame to make it an elevated home away from home kind of experience.
The property is just as beautiful in person as pictured online, and that isn't always the case. The quiet surroundings and relaxing atmosphere were exactly what we needed and wanted. Our grandson, age 5, would like to move to the house permanently. :) Between hot tubbing, playing corn hole and roasting marshmallows, it was a wonderful time had by all.

Thank you, Stephanie! We are delighted our place provided a peaceful getaway for you and your family. We hope to host you again in the future.
This property was amazing. It was even better than the listing. Anything in way of house amenities, supplies were included. The beds and bedding, furniture, and all the extra touches like extra blankets, blue tooth speaker, games, etc. were wonderful. The outside seating was plenty and the hot tub and fire pits were used daily and nightly. Would 100% return.

This host has thought of EVERYTHING! No matter what we needed, it was provided and then some. The home is beautifully decorated, the views are scenic and private, and the hot tub was the perfect addition to our cozy cabin Girls’ Weekend. Could not recommend more highly and can’t wait to book again!
This place was amazing! It had everything a family needed to enjoy a relaxing time. This place has a fully stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. Beautiful views with some great outdoor games to play. The host has put in a lot of thought with adding special touches. The only complaints I had was the hot tub was set on 109 degrees, so we couldn’t enjoy that our first try and the shower is very tight with a slippery surface floor, just be careful. Otherwise this place is on the top of our list.

Response from VrboOwner on 27 August 2024
Thank you, Jessica! We truly enjoyed hosting your family and would be honored to have you back again.
Thank you for your feedback. It helps us grow as hosts. We strive to make our place the very best it can be and safety is extremely important to us.
The highest temp you can set the hot tub water is 104. The summer heat and the insulated cover can cause the water temp to get very toasty. We try to set the water temp in the low 90’s to offset this. Perhaps it wasn’t adjusted down after it was refilled before your stay. I’m sorry you weren’t able to enjoy a soak on that first night but happy you were able to use it later.
Thank you for letting us know the shower floor is slippery! This is the first time we have heard this. I have ordered anti slip floor strips and will get them installed ASAP!
Thanks again! Tenae
