Enjoy the tranquil surroundings of a lovingly restored 1880s farmhouse set on 42 acres. New to the rental market in 2024, Fiddletree Farm features 5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a chef's kitchen, and stunning views of the Blue Ridge mountain and surrounding piedmont. With room for either one or two families, or perhaps a group of friends looking to celebrate or relax together, Fiddletree is an ideal country getaway.
Route 66's express lanes help make Fiddletree only a one hour drive from Washington DC. Once here, expect to be charmed by open spaces, rolling hills and starry skies. Cows graze on the surrounding fields, wildflowers grow along the banks of Crooked Run, and keen observers might even spot a fox, bald eagle or maybe even a bobcat.
The Italianate-style farmhouse at Fiddletree was built in the 1880s by the Delaplane family for whom the nearby town is named. Tastefully renovated just last year, guests will enjoy a fully appointed chef's kitchen, ample seating and lounge areas, working fireplaces, fully remodeled bathrooms, and modern amenities. There are four bedrooms upstairs: three king size bedrooms plus one bunk bed room. And a fifth bedroom can be set up downstairs for extra guests or for the convenience of seniors hoping to avoid stairs. A lovely dining room with wood-burning fireplace is perfect for dinner parties. Various sitting rooms and reading nooks are there for socializing or quiet enjoyment. And guests are free to wander the 42-acre property, which includes nature trails, a vegetable garden, mature trees, and working fields.
Fiddletree is in an ideal location. Just up the road is Sky Meadows State Park, which has access to the Appalachian Trail and hosts astronomy programs on Dark Sky nights. If you're thirsty or just curious, sample local wines at RDV, Delaplane Cellars, Arterra Wines, Three Fox Vineyards, or Barrel Oak, all just minutes away. If you plan to eat-in, pick-your-own fruits and vegetables at either nearby Hollin Farms or Valley View Farms. And if you prefer to eat-out, consider the Hunter's Head Tavern, an authentic British-style gastro pub just minutes away in Upperville, or Field & Main, an acclaimed farm-to-table restaurant in nearby Marshall. Also in Marshall, don't miss the famous Red Truck Bakery or the Whole Ox butcher shop, where you can get a perfect cheeseburger.
Those wiling to venture further afield can discover something in every direction along scenic and stress-free country roads. The adorable and upscale town of Middleburg, home of the Salamander Resort & Spa, is just 15 miles to the East. Historic Winchester is 20 miles to the North through the Ashby Gap and over the Shenandoah River. Charming Warrenton, is just over 20 miles to the South past Great Meadow, home of the Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase races. And hikers can find their way into Shenandoah National Park just 19 miles to the West.
Regardless of what you do or where you go nearby, a stay at Fiddletree Farm is sure to rejuvenate body, mind, and spirit. As owners who love the area, we're committed to making your experience memorable, and we're happy to recommend provisioning services, area attractions, or other amenities depending on your tastes. Bring your family and friends and enjoy an absolutely beautiful and stately home in one of the most picturesque spots in Virginia horse country.

Amazing property with a beautiful remodel. The kitchen was very well renovated with of the line appliances and plenty of seating that made it a fun location to hang out with a larger group. The bedrooms and bathrooms were also very spacious and comfortable. Jonas was a wonderful host and went out of his way to make sure we had a fantastic stay.
Very well done updated Greek revival farmhouse. Gorgeous interiors. Very close to Sky meadows state park for outdoor activities. Easy drive to front Royal and skyline drive. Highly recommend.
Fabulous place. Gorgeous views from every window. The place is newly renovated with high end finishes. Spotless. Super comfortable beds. Kitchen is very well equipped. Patio with Blackstone and Weber and firepit encourage you to enjoy the outdoor setting. Cows come by every morning on their way in to eat. Host is very responsive and attentive. I highly recommend this place!
This home was the perfect place for a peaceful getaway from the city for a few days. It was spacious enough to give each family some privacy with several options for enjoying time together with movie nights, family meals, games, and nature hikes. The kids especially loved exploring the creek and seeing the cows! The kitchen was a dream to cook in and the host was very welcoming and responsive. Can’t wait to come back!
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful farm house. The house is spacious and comfortable - the beds were awesome (including the pull out couch!), the bathrooms were well stocked and appointed, the kitchen was gorgeous and equipped with top end appliances and every pot/pan/cooking instrument you might need. The property has been recently renovated and it is a wonderful combination of modern conveniences and original charm. The property itself is expansive and bucolic - plenty of room to roam. We even got a close up view of the cows! The host, Jonas, was readily available and supplied lots of good local recommendations. I highly recommend this property.
I stayed at this farmhouse with a couple of friends for a quick guys trip and it did not disappoint. All the modern comforts tucked inside a handsome historic home located a 5-20 mins drive from great hiking, breweries, vineyards, pubs, restaurants, and quaint towns with fun shops. The house has ample space to hang out across a few rooms on the ground floor and several large bedrooms on the second floor, with great furnishings throughout. The views are spectacular—who knew the mountains can change color so many times in one sunrise or sunset—and having a drink by the fire along the creek bed made for a memorable evening. Highly recommend staying here.
We were a group of 8 family members attending a wedding. The place was perfect and my brothers were very grateful that I picked the place. The house could be featured in an Architectural digest, just beautiful. I could only wish my house was so nice.
We hosted breakfast for our children and it had everything you could possibly need.
Thank you so much for a beautiful home and all the little things you provided to make for a wonderful stay.
Stunning property in tranquil and relaxing setting
This is an absolutely gorgeous property and one of the more relaxing stays I have had. First of all, the grounds are beautiful. You feel like you are truly far away from it all with views of rolling hills and peaceful farmland. The house itself is breathtaking - obviously newly remodeled. The furnishings are a perfect mix of new pieces and antiques. The kitchen is stunning and huge - with everything you could think of or need. Finally, even though we felt like we were far away from it all, we were so surprised by how close the house was to antique shopping and delicious restaurants. We will definitely be staying here again!
We loved our stay at this home! We visited with 9 people (4 adults and 5 young children) and had more than enough room. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The home is classic but has been beautifully updated (very large kitchen with multiple dishwashers, ovens, sinks; brand new bathrooms). The home is set on a beautiful property, with views of expansive farmland. There is a lovely outdoor space where the kids ran around and played soccer. Easy drive to nearby towns like Middleburg and Marshall. Hosts were very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!
This house is beautiful with a spacious and well equipped kitchen. The house managers thought of everything and provided coffee and even wood for us to use in the wood burning fireplace which really set the tone for our Christmas family reunion. The pictures don’t do it justice, the views from this property are unparalleled.
We were about 10 minutes from Upperville and had a catered dinner from Blue Water Kitchen on our first night and then ventured into Middleburg the next day (about 15-20 minute drive) and capped off the night with a meal at Hunters Head Tavern which is fairly close to the house. Overall, we had a really nice stay and can’t wait to return!
