Tired of the hustle and bustle of daily life? Come let us spoil you in our fully-equipped cottage up in the trees. Unwind to nature's sounds from your private terrace while planning a trip to one of the nearby State Parks or local wineries.

This is the best private lodging in the area, filled with personal touches and serves as a great base for romantics, hikers, bikers, divers, winers and diners wanting to explore the natural beauty of the Ozarks.

The place is perched among 16 acres of secluded forest enveloping the maintained grounds, which offers all the solitude you need to swing the hammock, grill on the private deck, picnic under the tree canopy and light your fire. Yes, it's true, we supply free firewood, marshmallows and so much more for you to enjoy.

Plenty of shaded parking available, with enough space for a trailer. Also, lots of room for primitive camping.

Cottage is a separate building from our house, so guests will have the run of their place without worrying about disturbing or being disturbed.

Our guests value their privacy, so we adjust our interaction to meet their needs. We are always available by phone, text or email.

We also offer additional services such as meals, professional massages, access to hot tub, fitness and spa usage (European standards apply), tours, courses, intimate wedding services and vows renewal, etc... all for a fee. These services are provided to ensure the comfort of our guests, who are under no obligation to partake.

No public transportation is available in the area. There are plenty of quiet country roads and some good trails for bicyclists, motorcyclists and joggers. Shuttle services offered for an additional fee.

Owners are seasoned world travelers, willing to give suggestions on the area, or other continents. We love exposing world cuisines to America's heartland.

HOUSE RULES:
- Rule no.1: Enjoy! Everything in the cottage is there for you, to be used, so explore;
- No smoking indoors, please. Ashtray provided to be used on the deck when needed;
- Well-behaved, housebroken, groomed, crated pets or those with their own bed are welcome, but are NOT to be on any furniture at any time. They're welcome to experience freedom, exploring the surrounding woods, fields and creek. If you can't trust your dog off-leash, don't bring it. If your dog can’t be a good guest, you both will be asked to leave. Our dog has been attacked by visiting pets and it won’t happen again. $65/pet/stay (payable on arrival) to ensure the comfort of our pet-allergic guests;
- Private septic systems are only designed to process human waste and a sensible amount of toilet paper. Anything else and you will create major problems for everyone, including yourself. Therefore, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but the above mentioned should go down the drain. As proof we care about the comfort of our guests, we supply quality toilet paper instead of the recommended single-ply, but please use it responsibly;
- Living in the woods demands cohabitation with the living creatures whose home you share. Respect their privacy and avoid them, rather than killing them or destroying their shelters;
- We would greatly appreciate finding the place just as we left it for you to enjoy;
- If ever in doubt about anything, ask. We are always only one click or phone call away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cozy abode and the warm hospitality of our hosts as well as the amenities of the location. We loved the trail through the estate and our hosts wealth of knowledge about adventures in the area - our days were filled with excitement and our evenings were perfectly relaxing in the got tub. We wish we would have spent more time with all the options for relaxation available at the cottage!

Wonderful Hosts!

The cottage is as described, nestled in the treetops, charming and comfortable. Our hosts, Keith and Benka, were most helpful and their life experiences are inspiring. We were in the area to tour and get to know the culture and natural ecology, and Keith and Benka helped us with that immensely. They have put together very complete information books on the sites, restaurants and stores in the area, and their personal suggestions turned out to be spot on. My husband and I spent 3 lovely nights in the cottage for our 18th anniversary and were delighted by the serene location and easy access to local hiking. The property was such a delight with its wooded forest and surprises along the paths including a wooden porch swing overlooking a moss-covered, rocky gulch. WARNING: the breakfast and 14-course dinner are not for the faint of heart! Be sure to avoid filling up on the delicious bread and pace yourself :)

Where do I even start? There was nothing that wasn’t amazingly cool or unique about this property or the people who run it. From the first night I wanted to write a detailed 5-star review- but now I worry that going too in-depth would spoil all the little things that are there waiting for the next guests to explore and discover. So I will just say this: If you have ever wanted to feel like you are actually inside of a feel-good, small-town hallmark movie- book this place.

Perfect Getaway!

Stayed in Keith and Benka's place for a few nights last week. It was a cute little cottage, perfect for the two of us! They were very friendly hosts and went out of their way to make us feel at home! The property is beautiful, be sure to take a walk through the trail they have in the woods. We visited Johnson's Shut-ins for a day and the drive was not bad at all, I would definitely suggest it. Keith also referred us to 12 West, a restaurant in Farmington, it was delicious! A perfect date night destination. If you're looking to stay in there is a redbox right up the street to rent a movie or two. Overall great location and wonderful hosts, we hope to visit again sometime!

Great, quiet retreat

Very comfortable accommodations in the woods, outfitted with every amenity you could want. We were welcomed with a wonderful basket of goodies and all the basics in the kitchen for an easy meal. Keith and Benka are such interesting people and so generous with their facilities, time and knowledge of the area. There are so many State Parks in the area we had no problems finding good Spring hiking as well as historic sites to tour. Small towns provided some fun "antique hunting", good restaurants, and a local winery or 2 as well as a brewery. All and all, a very relaxing stay in the best equiped VRBO we have ever stayed in. Thanks Keith and Benka (and the ever faithful, Kora the dog).

Quaint and cozy cottage among a breathtaking treetop canopy

Benka and Keith have created a safe, comfortable and welcoming space surrounded by nature with all of the comforts of home. The cottage is fully equipped and stocked with everything one could possibly want and/or need for a relaxing forest escape (we overpacked). No need to bring water, as they have a well with excellent quality water (and a Brita water pitcher to filter it, maybe unnecessary?). We recommend utilizing the hot tub as it provided a further level of comfort and relaxation, especially while it rained (it is covered and has an accompanying patio space). The sound of the rain and rolling thunder among the forest was hypnotic. My wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversary here and we both feel more connected and closer to each other following our visit. We enjoyed our time together here, more than our honeymoon. Every Detail Considered

Our recent 5-night stay in the Treetop Cabin was just what we needed. As a very busy professional couple, we came to Keith and Benka’s as a replacement to our planned anniversary trip to France. You know, Missouri/France, same thing. Actually, this trip, the hosts, the cottage and its amenities far exceeded our expectations and made for a wonderful, romantic, relaxing, and adventure-filled vacation. No stone was left unturned in the planning and setup of the cottage experience, including fire pit complete with S’mores kit. We highly recommend engaging in one of Benka and Keith’s meal EXPERIENCES. We consider ourselves “foodies” and rank the brunch experience as one of our best meals EVER! The hot tub nestled in the woods and Benka’s massage helped us to relax after days spent hiking and running at some of the state parks and conservation areas as recommended by Keith. Don’t miss the Village Country Store in Caledonia and the hike up to watch the sunset on Hughes Mtn. Lots of naps and quiet reading in the extremely clean and cozy cabin. Keith and Benka are amazing hosts and we are so grateful to have met them and learned about their lives and experiences.

Wonderful place and fantastic hosts!

This is a wonderful place to get away from it all and just relax! We stayed in the cottage for two nights in April 2019 for our 24th Wedding Anniversary celebration. It was a perfect weekend away! The cottage was very clean with lots of nice little notes and extras, including a lovely Welcome basket. There is an electric fireplace and LOTS of candles to make a lovely and romantic ambiance. We also included the picnic basket in our reservation and it was ready and delivered to us when we arrived; full of delicious food that lasted all weekend! Before we booked and then before we arrived, we found that the hosts are wonderful communicators and reply quickly to any inquires. They are very warm and welcoming and very accommodating. They also have quite interesting backgrounds and very interesting stories! We would love to just sit with them both around a campfire and just listen to them tell about all their experiences! They are very friendly whenever they see you, but give you your space and privacy, as well. :) The hottub is wonderful...the water feels so clean; very comfortable and relaxing. There is a hammock for two available to use to just rest and relax. We never got a chance to sit around the firepit, but it was stocked with wood and ready to go if we wished to do so! Their dog, Kora, is a fantastic guide dog on a walk through the trails on their property! She keeps her distance and is very patient as you stop to take pictures or just observe the lovely surroundings. Keith gives excellent directions and the trail is well groomed; but Kora gives a distant, but sweet reassurance that you are in the right place. :) I highly recommend this place! This cottage is clean, peaceful, and relaxing with hosts that truly care about your comfort. We plan to return! ~Joy & Rick

We needed a getaway, and boy did we get one! Read many reviews and most said “pictures don’t do it justice”, and I second that! Such a lovely cottage, and there are NO words about the attention to detail!! Absolutely amazing! The little extras, the added touches, homemade treats and welcome basket; not expected but so appreciated! Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the LONG list of extras! Such fascinating people! Wished we met Benka; but maybe next time because we will be back! Thank you again Keith and Benka! What a gem!

Our location in the eastern Ozarks makes the perfect base camp for daily excursions to the numerous State Parks, scenic rivers or the Mark Twain National Forest. Or, if you have a taste for fermented fruit, head east towards Farmington/Ste. Genevieve and the Route de Vin.
