About this property
Mountain Adventures Await ~ Spacious Family Chalet ~ Near Dodge Ridge & Yosemite
Welcome to Robin’s Roost—a cozy three-story chalet-style cabin perched on a gently sloping mountain hill. It’s got charm, comfort, and all the space you need for a relaxing getaway. No need to worry about rolling out of bed into anything but cozy surroundings! With a detached 2-car garage and ample parking, you’ll have room for everyone and everything.
As you enter, you'll be greeted by vaulted ceilings and beautiful knotty pine accents that give the space a warm, rustic feel. The kitchen, dining area, and cozy family room with a rustic stone fireplace (cue the Insta-worthy moments) are perfect for relaxing. Two bedrooms and a full bathroom provide plenty of space. Plus, a mini-split air conditioner/heater to keep you comfy no matter the weather (because we all know how temperamental California mountain weather can be).
Looking for a spot to relax? We've got options! Try “Camper Corner,” which features two full-sized beds—perfect for those who believe in the “more the merrier” philosophy, or the perfect kids pad. If you’re looking for some peace and quiet, “Peaceful Pine” is your serene retreat with a single queen bed for ultimate relaxation.
For those who really want to spread out (and feel like mountain royalty), head upstairs to “Lookout Gable.” This ample, open loft space is a bedroom, sitting area, and office all in one. It’s got a king-sized bed, a ceiling fan for those warm mountain nights, a workspace for your laptop (or just to pretend you’re working), and its own half-bath. Plus, there’s another mini-split air conditioner/heater to make sure you’re living your best vacation life.
Teens, older children, or anyone who just needs a little space from the group can retreat to the “Bear Lair” on the bottom level. It's a chill spot for board games, movies, or getting in some serious PS4 time. It also has a laundry area and bathroom, because even bears need to freshen up occasionally.
And don’t forget “Hubby Hideout,” which is exactly what it sounds like—complete with a shower and a toilet for those “deep thinking” moments.
For outdoor lovers, the main deck offers a place for grill-masters to show their skills. Or, for the full experience, venture down to the hammock for the ultimate relaxation session, or gather around the fire ring and engage in some intense cornhole tournaments. In the warmer months, we’ve got a kids’ “basecamp” tent set up, because when kids are happy, parents are happy! You’ll also want to use the lower deck for a nature watch or to stargaze beneath towering 150-foot evergreen trees. Who needs a movie when you’ve got the Milky Way and smores!
Parking? Easy! Our 2-car garage comes with a Level 2 EV charger, right off a flat driveway. And if you're feeling adventurous (or just like a little challenge), we’ve got an additional paved parking space on the side of the garage—slightly sloped for the thrill-seeker in all of us. And don’t worry about juggling keys—your unique door code works on every door, including the garage, because we’re all about making things simple for you.
Robin’s Roost sits just above the snow line, so while we get some snow in the winter, it’s rarely enough to leave you snowed in. But if you're craving serious snow, don’t worry—we're just 20 miles from Dodge Ridge. Want to race down a hill with your family? Leland Snow Play’s got you covered, offering the perfect spot to hurl yourselves down a snow-covered slope on an innertube and see who screams the loudest. Looking for something a little slower paced? Try ice skating in Longbarn. Let the winter games begin!
While you're here, don’t miss historic Columbia State Park and Railtown 1897 —because who doesn’t love a good train ride and a slice of history? And no matter the season, Yosemite National Park is a bucket list destination—make sure to check it off! Pinecrest Lake offers the perfect location for hiking, biking, fishing and boating.
The mountains are calling and we are centrally located for all of your year-round outdoor shenanigans. So pack your sense of adventure (and maybe some closed-toed shoes), and head on up to Robins Roost, because the family fun is just getting started!

About the host
Hosted by Denise Brownlee

Traveling with a large family can be a challenge. Affordability, ample room, and family friendly amenities were always a top priority when our 7 children were still at home. As a host, I take great pride any time a family stays with us and they say that they have had the best time and their children don’t want to leave. I use my lens as an experienced mother and traveler to try provide all of the special touches and necessities that make a families trip “AMAZING.”
Why they chose this property
I love that our cabin is part of a forest community, but our property still allows us space and privacy. One of our favorite things to do it sit on our deck and watch the wildlife. Seeing deer grazing on the property never gets old, especially in the spring and summer when the fawns are so small.
Our central location allows us close access to ALL of the year-round adventures that can be found in our local area. Everything is just a short drive away! We are super close to Pinecrest Lake, historic Columbia State Park, Big Trees State Park, Moaning Caverns, Railtown 1897, Dodge Ridge, Leland Snow Play, Chicken Ranch & Black Oak Casinos, and quaint downtown Twain Harte.
We encourage all of our guests to take a day trip to Yosemite National Park. It is one of our nations treasures and never disappoints!

What makes this property unique
When we purchased our cabin a few years ago, it was looking rather shabby. Our family put in months of work to bring its "shine" back. We made sure to keep all of the cozy rustic charm, but also made it feel serene and inviting. Inside the cabin you feel like you are up in the trees. The stone fireplace draws everyone together. We love to sit outside by the fire pit, roast marshmallows, and gaze at the stars. When you stay at Robins Roost, you can feel the love. Love of family. Love of nature.
