This is a great property if you want peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed coffee in the mornings on the back porch and took walks in the national forest behind the house. It was close enough to Nederland to go for lunch and dinner and within a short drive to a number of great hiking spots. The previously mentioned hot water issue was taken care of and we had immediate and constant hot water as needed.
The cabin was great. We had all we needed for the stay. However, we didn’t not have hot water as the breaker kept popping, the stove didn’t work until the last day when my husband fixed it and we had a problem with one of the neighbors. The neighbor was upset that our dog and kid wondered into her yard. Furthermore, she provided me with documentation that the cabin own was in violation with the county for rented without a permit and allowing dogs without a permit. The cabin does meet up with the National Forest which would be great, except that the door was left open on the patio by someone before us and our dog went into the forest and got lost. Fortunately, we were able to find her that night when a neighbor spotted her at the entrance of the park. We were lucky enough to reunite wit her, but we spend an entire day looking for her, taking away from the peach and quiet we were hoping for. I think a word of caution would have been good rather than advertising it as kid and pet friendly. It didn’t not feel pet friendly and at times, not so kid friendly, at least not young kid friendly.
