NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW
The Green Flash is located on North Captiva Island, a secluded, car-free barrier island known for pristine beaches, abundant wildlife, and a relaxed Old Florida atmosphere.

The island is ideal for guests seeking a slower pace and meaningful time outdoors. Popular activities include shelling, fishing, kayaking, bird watching, and long walks along uncrowded beaches.

GETTING AROUND / TRANSIT
Island Access: North Captiva is only accessible by boat or small private plane. No cars are allowed. Parking at the mainland Welcome Center is $10 per day.

Golf carts are the primary mode of transportation on the island. This home does not include a golf cart, but rentals are available through The Island Club and can be arranged in advance.

The nearest commercial airport is located in Fort Myers. Guests should plan ahead for groceries and supplies, as on-island shopping options are limited.

The ground-level exterior of the home is currently under construction, as shown in the listing photos. This area is exterior only and is not part of the guest living space. All interior living areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms are fully finished and ready for guest use. The construction does not impact access, comfort, or interior enjoyment, and pricing has been adjusted accordingly.

Luggage Assistance Included (Admiral Home):
As an Admiral Home guest, luggage assistance is included with your stay. An Island Club team member will load your luggage onto the ferry and deliver it directly to the home upon your arrival. A team member will also be waiting at the ferry dock to assist and ensure a smooth arrival experience.

Great location!

We had a great week at this property. Lots of space for our family to spread out. The location was awesome. We enjoyed spending time fishing, kayaking, swimming and paddle boarding off the beach. The views from all the rooms was amazing. Thanks for a great week.

This property was perfect for our extended family. The access to the ocean was just steps away. The pool was an added feature which made it all the more enjoyable.

Super Property!

Superb home. Great layout, nice amenities, comfortable furnishings. Pool is large and nice, plenty of seating options.Views from top decks and porch are breath taking. No doubt where we will stay on next trip down, next spring. Sunsets are literally on your doorstep, incredible. Home comfortably slept 10. Storm damage to beach in front of home created steep access, but hardly deterred anything we wanted to do! Highly recommend, this home.

Poor property management

The property is located directly on Water which is fantastic. The property management did not take accurate records for the ferry and golf carts and chargers had to continually be replaced (5 carts and 3 chargers). Electrical tripped 4 times and the last time would not trip back on due to exterior outlet that was impacted. Told property manager and no one ever showed up. The follow ups and waiting for carts and chargers created stress and unnecessary time spent on phones vs on vacation.

Great vacation house!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had three couples (no children) staying for about a week. The house is well set up, with one covered balcony and one open balcony on the top floor. Each had a table and chairs and we used them constantly! The top floor living, dining and kitchen are really nice and stocked well. It's quite a few stairs from the beach if you aren't used to it, but you get your steps in. We used the pool quite a bit, but you just cannot beat the location right on the beach. Our complaints are small - there was not ONE hanger in any of the closets, and no face cloths in any of the bathrooms. We had one maintenance issue - the front door would not lock, we had no key as it was supposed to be repaired the day we arrived. No repair all week, so every time we went out, the house was accessible (fortunately, we had no problem)

Amazing gulf views and dolphin sitings

The setting can’t be beat. 30’ from ocean waves. All bedrooms have ocean views on 2nd level. 3rd floor main area is outstanding with large netted balcony areas and open deck areas for scouting dolphin activity! Warm inviting Oceanside pool. Great beach walking and shelling. Total chill vibe on island. Issues= golf carts and beach chairs substandard. Ditto on earlier comments about cheesy kitchen amenities considering the price tag. Cheap plastic 4 cup coffee pot. No scrubbers— Bought more kitchen towels. No scissors. Bad knives. Limited dishwasher soap. Only 2 trash bags. Couldn’t get reservations for 2 of the 4 restaurants (only the 2 outdoor bars were available) which would have been good to know ahead of time. All in all . . .. fabulous trip/location. Great Caribbean alternative for those that can handle stairs!

I would book this house again

House was clean and bug-free. Closest house to the beach. So convenient to not have to drive your stuff to the beach and back to the house, you’re literally RIGHT THERE. Nice bathrooms, clean & everything functioning properly. Screened-in porch and open decks. If/when we come back to North Captiva, I’ll stay in this same house for sure. Garbage bags and paper towels were the only thing we ran out of so bring extra or order some with the groceries. A couple notes about staying on North Captiva: Use water taxi instead of ferry. We got delayed at the airport on the way in and would have missed all ferries. Plus our flights kept changing and ferry times are limited and fill up fast. A water taxi is expensive but worth every penny. Order groceries and have them delivered directly to the house. SO worth it. Boats and Fun is an awesome company for boat rentals, water taxi, golf cart rentals, etc. Every worker was amazing and they work hard to make so you have a great stay. Pine Island Taxi from airport to boat dock is also a great, accommodating, friendly company.

Beach Front with Termites

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: the view from this property, is hands-down stunning! However, our two-week stay was a nightmare *especially our first week. Upon arrival we found several bed sheets were dirty with stains (we have pictures we shared with mgt) most of the cookware and silverware was left dirty, the icemaker, water dispenser and freezer were not working, water was leaking from the refrigerator ,a smelly old refrigerator was left in the living-dining room, a broken couch with a metal bar sticking out (huge liability) other area of the home was left dusty and with sand and the towels were left damped. while all of this was less than ideal, especially for what we are paying ..... when we thought it couldn't get, once night set in ... the downstairs rooms were filled with termites. Once we turned on the lights, termites' Swarmers appeared everywhere. we all had to sleep in the living room top on a couch and on a recliner because the sofa sleeper was broken (the bedroom area was filled with termites couldn't sleep in the 4 bedrooms) the other family members were warned about the situation and opted to stay home till a solution was given. after much back and forth with mgt. they regret to inform us, that we CAN NOT be moved to another property but that we were going to compensated/refunded for our inconvenience. lol what a joke ... we're still waiting. if the owner of this property and its management cares, I have pictures, video, of everything mentioned and more. this vacation was a nightmare and left me and our family traumatized. i've asked to speak to the owner repeatedly but to no avail.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had the highest hopes for our week at The Green Flash on North Captiva Island. The 180 degree view of the Gulf was exactly how it was pictured with direct sunset views from the three levels of porches. We enjoyed the pool and we could not have been more directly on the water than we were. The kitchen was well equipped but this is where things fell apart. A week on North Captiva requires careful planning to ensure you bring all food needed for the week when you arrive by ferry as there are no grocery stores on the island and you are unable to access the mainland except by ferry. You can imagine the dismay when you plan well but find that the fridge and freezer stop working. We noticed that the freezer stopped working the second day we were here when all of our meat and fish in the freezer started defrosting. I called and left a message on the maintenance voice mail and did not get a call back. As the ice maker stopped working, I went out and bout two bags of ice from Island Ice $16). Still no word from anyone on Sunday. Monday morning a received a text stating to text that number if there were any maintenance issues. I texted immediately and did not hear anything back for 3 hours. I took the golf cart to the office and found no one around. I returned 30 minutes later and was told someone would come by the house. I returned back to The Green Flash. An hour later someone comes by ( we now have standing water in the freezer) and the guy says the freezer was defrosting because we had the refrigerator crisper was set on deli. That seemed improbable but we waited to see. Long story short, we did not have a functioning fridge or freezer for 5 days. We had to throw out food and it all was stressful with no solution. Not what I expected from a $6k rental.

Beachfront Paradise

Didn't want to leave the house! It was so beautiful! I've been to North Captiva many times and this has to be the nicest house, in the best location I have ever stayed in. The view and location is absolutely amazing! My favorite part of the whole house is the bottom deck, I laid there with the water and beach right in front of me. The view was spectacular! Just walk right down three steps to your own private beach. We walked far in both directions and swam with the dolphins! Also saw turtoise and manatee! So many great spots to eat. A screened in porch on the main level, a huge deck on the side of the house overlooking the beach, and another deck right on the beach with not only a gas grill but charcoal grill and tables and seating! Not to mention the pool deck! We spent every minute enjoying the beautiful breeze and view. We saw dolphins three times from the deck while sitting out there. Of course there is a large dining room table with plenty of seating as well. I own a timeshare and have rented properties all over, usually houses don't come with much in the kitchen. This one was well equipped. Plenty of dishes, silverware, glass baking ware, pots, blender, pannini maker, grill, etc. They even had games, cards, and a wine refrigerator in the living area. The wine refrigerator was a great asset! We had 8 people in our group and there was plenty of room for everyone in all areas in the house. We all liked to hang out together and there was always enough space. The bedrooms were great, the master had a beautiful balcony with a couch, two of the other bedrooms had access to decks as well. There was also a huge laundry room. The sound of the waves at night was unreal so soothing! This house is also one of the few to not only be right on the beach but also have a pool with plenty of chairs and outdoor shower. Never even used the 2 pools at the island club. We did use the kayaks though. It was awesome! The house came with a golf cart and we rented an extra one but didn't need it cause we never wanted to leave the house and beach! NCIC did a good job transporting our luggage and food from the parking to our house. Eric carried everything up for us. Make sure u bring all the food and drinks you need for ur vacation and u will be set! Weather was perfect, breeze was awesome! Just perfect vacation! Did not want to leave! Can't wait to go back, definitely staying in this house again and laying on that deck!

….but the view!

….but the view became our motto due to the nature of that being pretty much the only positive. The place was insanely dirty. You couldn’t walk on the floor without your feet becoming black. The beds were uncomfortable and if you enjoy grandmas quilting then you will be in luck, if you are like me then you will dislike all the bedding. For the price you pay for this place it is extremely disappointing. The pots and pans were so bad you couldn’t cook on them because the bottom of the pan would be in your food. Two of the showers wouldn’t drain so we had to shower upstairs. Both toilets downstairs were leaking around the bottom which caused a sight worth puking for. The tvs are sooooo tiny. There was one hanger in the closet which really bothered me since I like to unpack. Our golf cart died on us and we weren’t able to get anyone to help us, lucky for us we prepared from the prior reviews that mentioned crappy carts so we did rent one as well, thank goodness! The property manager seem to be unreachable bc we never did hear back on a few issues. One being when we checked in they had no key for us and we were told the last people didn’t have a problem with not being able to lock the door…so. It was never fixed but we did have some random guys show up wanting to measure windows inside when we were there. Broken chairs outside under the sand…I didn’t see any other chairs we would of been able to take out to the beach either. Every single wall was dinged up, scraped, scratched and dirty. Every couch inside or outside furniture was so gross you felt dirty bc everything was very worn. We did have a cockroach in the bathroom and mold all over the vents. We really did enjoy the view. The pool was the next best thing….but again broken Lounge chairs and a collection of dirty used toys and floaties left behind by other guest take over the entire pool area. We stay at a place in Captiva for a little less and it has everything you could want and more. Sub zero refrigerator, tommy Bahama chairs/ umbrellas, clean toys and shelling devices, the floors are so clean, the bedding is plush and plentiful, and so much more! I know there are new owners so I’m hoping for some change but in the meantime the price needs lowered and some things need fixed before continuing to rent out. Expecting 5 star luxuries and getting 1 star service.

Never wanted to leave

Me and my fiancé stayed here for the first time and we had such an incredible vacation. The house was literally steps from the beach with a beautiful private pool that was so relaxing after a day in the ocean. The Green Flash has the most amazing and beautiful sunsets. We saw dolphins, turtles, birds and crabs. Mangos and Mainstays was just a short 2 minute golf cart ride away. We had such a great time and will definitely be staying here again.

The Pool was really well kept and was great. Overall we had an amazing stay and would stay at this house again.A few not so great things we experienced. The beds in this house are rock solid and not very comfortable. The pullout couch has seen better days and is next to impossible to get in and out. Some new beds and replacing some of the outdoor furniture would go a long way.

The beds are not comfortable at all (one was broken upon arrival) and we had issues with the swimming pool not working properly for two of the days we were there. Beach access was great. Kitchen had everything we needed. There were four beach chairs and beach toys. Beach towels were in the laundry room. This house is great, it just needs to be updated with new mattresses, outdoor chairs, etc.

Never Want to Leave!

The Club fixed our two minor problems promptly and generously. There was some wear/tear on surfaces, but-- it's a beach house. We felt relaxed and comfortable.

Bug infested property

We had small ants and baby palmetto bugs throughout the home. The fridge leaked and the coffee maker was very cheap. Took 30 min just to brew a pot of coffee.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a fantastic family vacation. Truly enjoyed the relaxing island of North Captiva. North Captiva Island Club treated us extremely well and professionally. The property location was fantastic but the outside furniture was rough or lacking and multiple appliances didn't work. Need some basics like a corkscrew :)

Amazing views!

The property was beautiful with incredible views and amazing location. Kitchen without dish towels, grater or any tin foil, Saran Wrap, etc. Plenty of pots and pans. Definite maintenance needed. Main door handle wiggling in door, outside lights had to be left on or would blink continuously - neither ok for endangered turtles on beach. Ground level entrance to pool didn’t stay locked. It was fine for our group but would need safety lock if young children. Washer leaked all over floor, reported to NCIC but not fixed during our stay. Door to lower porch from bedroom sealed shut, lamp plug broken in outlet in main living room. Owner has home for sale and these maintenance issues are likely on NCIC management to fix. We would definitely stay there again as the site and views were incredible.

Location, Location, Location

We stayed here with 2 other couples. All of us were lulled to sleep by the crashing waves! Loved that bedrooms were on one level and living area was on the upper floor so early risers didn't bother late sleepers. Only suggestion would be update kitchen inventory . There was a lot of things not on the listing that we wish we would have known were there when buying groceries.

The views saved the rest.

Very disappointing. The level of service does not come close to the price point. The interior was very clean and stocked as listed, but the exterior and the pool were dirty. Landscaping was not at all like the pictures, pool full of sand and debris (bugs and leaves), trash (people trash) littered 3 sides of the property. Charged for 5 star home, at best 3 star, because of the exterior and the service. Had multiple issues with resort supplied golf carts, which were in poor condition, the home did not have one so the resort supplied, the staff finally exchanged one golf cart, after 30 frustrating minutes of explanations. The home is for sale, we assumed that is why the exterior was neglected. The exterior patio furniture was aged and worn. The views are incredible, internal furnishings nice, which kept our rating as high as it did. The grocery service was very good. We had them stock the house prior to arrival. We had way too much leftover food, very difficult to judge. The mainland staff was pleasant, the ferry captains were very good also, earned multiple tips. The island receptionist was very cold and off-putting to the point of not wanting to even discuss any issues with her. We have no idea who the manager is, nor were we greeted by anyone with any authority. The view, the wildlife, and the area, just beautiful, the negatives of the home sadly outweighed the positives.
