New to VRBO, Summerhouse on Niles Bay; surrounded by towering pines, abundant sunshine, big water views, sandy shores and beautiful sunsets. This unique property, situated on 2 acres of land and 200 ft of shoreline, was formerly part of Camp Waconda; a YMCA base camp for portage and paddle trips into the BWCA in the 1960s. The main cabin is the original camp “lodge and mess hall”. The guest cabin and lakeside sleeper cabin are also renovated original camp buildings. Be a part of history with the comfort and conveniences of today; Welcome to summer camp! Your 350 miles of shoreline, 365 islands and 40,000 acres of pristine Lake Vermilion beauty awaits you!

Lakeside Sleeper Cabin is exactly that; only steps from the waters edge with incredible sunrise and sunset views! A lit path leads you to this private get-away just steps from the main and guest cabins.

Lakeside you can enjoy the sun-filled days on the large deck/dock right on the water. From sun up to sun down this is a favorite spot for lounging, swimming, fishing and relaxing. Sand bottom for swimming, fun island & floaties for soaking in the sun and 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boards to explore the shoreline and bays. Ample dock space with bumper posts for your watercraft.

Once the sun goes down, make s’mores and memories around the large campfire or the smaller lakeside fire pit and gather in the gazebo for cards and cribbage.

Don’t forget your golf clubs, bikes and pickle ball gear! The Vermiliion Fairways is a wonderful course for all ages and handicaps, 4 miles away. A short 25 minute drive to the other end of the lake, will bring you to The Wilderness at Fortune Bay. An award-winning course surrounded by northern pines, along the Vermilion shoreline. Don’t golf? Try your hand at the casino! Pickleball and tennis courts are also available. You will also find mini golf at Pier 77. The Mesabi Bike Trail offers miles and miles of paved trails. Have ATVs or SxS? Bring those too! Hundreds of miles of trails and your side x side may be used on all county roads.

The neighboring town of Cook has grocery, gas, liquor, hardware , auto parts, Dollar General, gift shops, coffee and bakery, Comet Movie Theater, McDonalds, Montana Cafe, VFW and hospital/clinic with walk-in care.

You are within reach of hundreds of miles of biking trails, OHV trails, the BWCA, trophy fishing, the Soudan Underground Mine and the charming dog-sledding town of Ely.
