Great location - we used this as our base to see the golden circle and south Iceland. Loved the hot tub for northern lights hunting. Got our rental car stuck in some snow at the base of the driveway, but I summoned great strength and pushed us out. At that moment I think that I was the strongest man in Iceland! The host was very responsive and had the snow cleared right away. Kids loved the glass dome.
This was a beautiful country home well stocked to suit our needs. While we didn't get lucky enough to see the northern lights because the cloud cover was just so heavy during our visit, the dome would've been perfect if the weather had cooperated. The stairs are a bit steep, so if you have elderly or small children that's something to be mindful of. It was in great driving distance to the golden circle and some amazing restaurants. The secret lagoon is just around the corner and we loved it so much we went twice. The only thing we needed that wasn't there was tissues. There's a small grocery store just around the corner as well. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly stay again.
This place is awesome. We spent 15 nights in Iceland at 7 different properties and this one was the best. Four bedrooms with lots of room to spread out; a well equipped kitchen; and the outdoor hot and cold tub’s plus sauna were a treat.Hopefully we can go back someday.
Amazing stay at the Mountain Villa! The house was perfect for three couples. Loved the Sauna and Hot tub. Spacious house with large comfy bedrooms and seating areas. The solarium was fabulous. Kitchen stocked with everything you need. Convenient to everything including the waterfalls and lagoons. The host was extremely responsive. Will book again!
Wonderful property that was well-appointed and great for an extended family. Great location easily accessible to all destinations in Southern Iceland. Highly recommended.
We spent our children’s school break in Iceland—it was 2 families (10 people total; 6 of which are elementary / middle school kids). This house was perfectly situated for us to see all the highlights we’d mapped out, and had ample space for everyone to sleep and relax when at the house. The outdoor area was fantastic! Wonderful spot—this made our trip!
So it’s my twins 21st birthday and I wanted to do something memorable. So I took them to Iceland and stayed at an amazing VRBO. Here are my top 3 reasons for 5 stars:
1. Location - it’s in a town that’s close to some of the main geologic attractions in Iceland (Gulfoss, the south coast, etc.). The town also has a supermarket and some surprisingly good restaurants (even a mushroom farmer who has a family restaurant).
2. The quality of the VRBO. Plenty of room for 5 adults in a new neighborhood with endless skyline views. Built in activities including a hot tub, cold tub, sauna, and outdoor shower.
3. Hidden surprises (in a good way) - we had a lot scheduled (white water rafting - 5 minutes away, a glacier hike - 1 hour away, and a visit to the secret lagoon - 5 minutes away). But the best part was that we had the morning free and we went for a hike on the mountain that we saw from our window. 15 minutes uphill and then a lake on top of the hill with views of numerous glaciers. You can’t beat it!!!
