About this property
BRIGHT, CHARMING 3-BR WITH GARDEN IN THE HEART OF TOWN
CHARMING, SPACIOUS, ART-FILLED 1ST FLOOR OF A FEDERAL-PERIOD HOME IN THE CENTER OF HUDSON. WALK TO THE MIDDLE OF WARREN STREET IN UNDER A MINUTE. WI-FI, FULLY EQUIPPED KITCHEN & BUDDHA GARDEN WITH PROPANE BBQ.
LATE CHECK-OUT AVAILABLE UNLESS OTHER GUESTS ARE IMMINENT (YOU'RE WELCOME TO STAY THROUGH DINNER OF YOUR LAST DAY)!
Please also see my other listing, "BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY WITH GARDEN IN THE HEART OF TOWN."
Named for its central location on Union Street and domestic tranquility, A MORE PERFECT UNION is a 1,200-sf floor-thru that provides a beautiful bohemian base for a weekend in Hudson. It's ideal for weekend guests, and well-provisioned enough to feel and function like home for longer-term stays.
This immaculate, unique home blends historic Federal-style construction with an exuberant mélange of eclectic furnishings. Its wide original floorboards feel warm and solid underfoot, and its pre-Civil War plaster walls are adorned with the vibrant art of local folk artist Earl Swanigan, Spanish abstract expressionist Isabel Santaló, and surrealist John Fenton, among others, creating a rich, layered ambience.
Public spaces are roomy with high ceilings. The three bedrooms—(with one queen-size bed, one full with featherbed, one pillowtop full, all Goldilocks-approved)—are cozy and generously appointed with pillows and soft linens, and there's an additional queen-size convertible couch in the living room. A MORE PERFECT UNION also has its own thermostat, and AC in every bedroom.
The yin-yang buddha garden, a lush oasis where hummingbirds flit amongst orange trumpet flowers all summer, has a propane BBQ and plenty of seating for guests on either floor to enjoy.
Please tell me the number in your party and the reason for your visit so I can best accommodate your needs. I am reachable by e-mail or phone from booking through your stay—and usually available in person while you're here.
MORE ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD & HUDSON:
Union Street, and my block in particular, has the lovely settled energy of an older neighborhood. It's quiet and peaceful here, yet only a minute's walk from the exact center of Warren Street, Hudson's happening main drag with its varied restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, boutiques, and all manner of fashions - antique and au courant - for home and humans.
Hudson is a very small city, and you can explore all of it easily on foot. Warren Street, Hudson's main artery, is a minute's leisurely stroll from the house, and there is street parking all around. The Catskills, Frederick Church's Olana and Hudson River beaches — to name just three of the Hudson Valley's memorable offerings — are all a 10- or 15-minute drive, and more easily accessed by car.
Hudson is about 120 miles from New York City, a two-hour train ride from Penn Station, and 48 miles from Albany International Airport (ALB). Although you can walk anywhere in town from the house, the closest supermarkets, movie theaters and fast food are located in strip malls 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 miles away (thus preserving Hudson's remarkable architectural continuity). There are taxis, a car rental agency, and two places to rent bicycles (one of which also rents skis and kayaks) in town.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
PLEASE TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF UPON ENTERING THE HOUSE. COZY HOUSE SOCKS WILL BE PROVIDED, WITH MANY THANKS FROM YOUR HOUSE FAIRY.
PET POLICY: Unfortunately, although I love them, I am unable to accept pets.
STAYS OF MORE THAN ONE WEEK: In order to change linens and keep the place bright and shiny, the apartment will be cleaned weekly. We coordinate whatever time(s) works for everyone.
LEGAL STUFF: This property is registered with the City of Hudson, and Hudson's 5% lodging tax is included in the rate.

About the host
Hosted by Ellen Liburt

I have lived in Hudson, New York, since 1999. Hudson is a vibrant mini-city with arts, antiques, excellent restaurants, music, auctions, shops, and, of course, the Hudson River. Whether you want to scout stylish home decor or paint like a Hudson River School painter, you can do it here. I am happy to provide you with a tranquil, comfortable apartment steps from the center of town.
Why they chose this property
Because it's the only one with a House Fairy! who bears a striking resemblance to me, your hostess. I want you to be happy and comfortable. So please let me know the number of people in your party, or if it changes; the reason for your visit; and any other requests so that I can better accommodate your needs.
What makes this property unique
A More Perfect Union is located exactly mid-town on a safe, quiet street in an peaceful neighborhood abounding in wonderful old architecture. It's less than a minute's walk from the house to Warren Street, Hudson's burgeoning main drag with all its restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, antiques, fashions vintage and au courant for home and humans, and of course the Hudson River. The enclosed buddha garden offers a tranquil respite for breakfast, a barbecue, or relaxing at night with a glass of wine after coming home from a wedding.
