๐ŸŒฒ A Cabin With a Soul โ€” Authentic, Hand-Built, and Completely Unique

Tomhegan Cabin isnโ€™t just a place to stay โ€” itโ€™s an experience. Handcrafted from local logs and perched high on the hillside overlooking Moosehead Lake, this rustic retreat is surrounded by 100 private acres of forest and wildlife. Itโ€™s quiet, peaceful, and beautifully imperfect in all the best ways โ€” a place designed for those who crave nature, simplicity, and that rare โ€œcabin in the woodsโ€ feeling you canโ€™t get anywhere else.

This is not a modern, polished vacation home โ€” itโ€™s a nostalgic, wood-scented, cabin experience where life slows down, the stars feel closer, and silence becomes something you can feel.

๐Ÿก Inside the Cabin

A lived-in, cozy, and wonderfully simple interior that radiates warmth:

๐Ÿ”ฅ Wood-Burning Stove โ€“ The heart of the cabin
๐Ÿณ Well-loved Kitchen โ€“ Fully equipped for home-cooked meals
๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ Comfortable Living Room โ€“ Smart TV, lake views, soft seating
๐Ÿ› Whirlpool Tub โ€“ Perfect for relaxing after hiking or snowmobiling
๐ŸŒŒ Private Deck โ€“ For coffee at sunrise or stargazing at night

๐ŸŒฒ The Land โ€” 100 Acres of Wilderness to Explore

This cabin sits on an expansive private property with:

๐Ÿฅพ Hand-cut hiking trails
๐ŸŒฒ Quiet forest paths
๐ŸฆŒ Constant wildlife activity (moose, deer, eagles, owls)
๐ŸŒŠ A trail leading down to Moosehead Lake
๐Ÿ›ถ Kayaks available for guest use
๐ŸŒ… Panoramic lake & mountain views from the ridge

The dock is accessible via a rugged, adventurous trail (more of a hike than a casual walk). Expect an authentic outdoor experience โ€” uneven ground, roots, and natural terrain. Proper footwear recommended.

โ„๏ธ Outdoor Adventure at Your Doorstep

In winter, head right from the cabin to the snowmobile trails for direct access to hundreds of miles of Maineโ€™s best riding.

In summer and fall, enjoy:
๐Ÿ›ถ Kayaking
๐ŸŒ… Sunset viewing
๐Ÿ“ธ Moose watching
๐Ÿฆ‰ Birding
๐ŸŽฃ Fishing
๐Ÿฅพ Private hiking

Cute cabin! Passing through the area and stayed one night. Pretty view of the lake and mountains from the rear covered deck and upstairs bedroom. Our son liked the access to the water. Would stay there again!

We loved our time at the cabin. Amazing view of Moosehead Lake. Perfect space for our family of 5. Great location, close to everything we wanted to do as well as restaurants and grocery in Greenville. We hope to return some day!

The cabin was clean and inviting, the view, lovely! My husband and I choose the bedroom upstairs. The view from the very comfortable king sized bed, was spectacular! The very narrow and steep stairway leading up to it was a little challenging, but we're an older couple with some physical challenges. Communication with the host was impressive and appreciated. We will come back!

Northwoods atmosphere

Nice cabin in the woods. We were required to sweep the cabin when departing, however, it seemed the previous occupants had not. View was spectacular, overlooking the lake. There was an infestation of flying ants in the upstairs bedroom. We noticed it the day we left. I notiied the owner, I am assuming it will be taken care of. It would be nice if the owners would allow previous occupants to leave behind any unused condiments. That way each occupant doesn't have to buy their own spices, ketchup etc...Overall it met our needs while reconnecting with family history.
