This comfortable home on the bay side of Wellfleet allows for complete relaxation. It has everything needed to fall in love with Wellfleet; Privacy, proximity to town, beautiful sunsets and long beach walks.
House was a beautiful historic home with tins of character in a remote home by ine of the best beaches I've ever seen on the Cape. Couldn't have asked for a better rental to meet up with friends at and just relax and enjoy the area.

The house was perfect. So many wonderful little spots to relax in or to explore. Our group loved the nice little walk to the beach. The beach was spectacular. Low tide or high tide just a treat to visit. We all loved the lived and feel of the house.. I will definitely try to come back again.

Be aware
Primary road closed due to tidal flooding. Secondary road passable but had to ford tidal flow. Rutted trail in passable with AWD only. Driveway flooded and home not accessible. Remote spot and need to be aware of tides. Poorly represented in description. Had to find alternative lodging

Hi Douglas,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand that Mother Nature can sometimes be unpredictable, and we sympathize with the inconvenience caused by the rare combination of an astronomical high tide and a powerful storm during your check-in. Unfortunately, these circumstances affected the entire area, and even local authorities, including the DPW, Police, and Fire Department, faced challenges accessing the island at that time.
As highlighted by many previous guests, the property's secluded and remote location is one of its unique charms for those looking to get away from it all. However, any of our properties can sometimes be impacted by extreme weather.
We regret that you weren’t able to experience the property firsthand due to these unusual conditions, and we feel that a review based solely on this weather event doesn’t reflect the true value of the home itself. We hope future guests understand that this was an extraordinary situation, and we always strive to ensure our guests have a memorable stay.

What a magical place! A beautiful, 18th century house in the middle of the National Seashore, utterly private and remote, just a 5 minutes’ walk from the bay. Though the house is more than 2 centuries old, it is comfortable and well equipped: the owners have thought of every convenience, from an ultra-modern shower to the wireless Internet access (one member of our family was able to work remotely during our stay). A charming little guest cottage provides another bedroom and bathroom. A large brick terrace in front of the house, overlooking flower beds and fruit trees, has comfortable chairs and tables, a barbecue and firepit. Outside the kitchen in the back, a large glass table & umbrella makes a lovely shady place to breakfast and lunch -- and a relaxing hammock is a few paces away. For hikers, there are some wonderful walks right from the property that follow the old cart tracks through the woods. And during a couple of rainy days, we were never bored for a minute, thanks to the amazing collection of books in the house (not to mention all the board games and puzzles) & comfy chairs and sofas. Wish we were still there!

Reviewer Comments:
The location on Bound Brook Island is amazing, so close to a nearly deserted beautiful beach. The house is comfortable, especially the living room area with several spots to sit and gather. Unfortunately this was a challenging mosquito season in Wellfleet, and Bound Brook Island seemed to be a mosquito breeding ground while we were there. It was quite extreme and prevented us from lounging outside at the property. The gas for the stove ran out while we were there and the owner was lovely and had it filled immediately.

We appreciate your feedback, Holly! Hope to have you again soon!
I know that you can't control the mosquitos but they were so bad. Had none last year when we stayed and could not sit outside this year nor could we walk to the beach. Will say that clean up of the fruit that falls would be helpful as the bees were also terrible. We spent a few hours raking and that helped. Also the bathroom in the little house is filthy and moldy. Love the setting though, even with the bugs! Thanks you
