About this property

Sprague Ranch Cabin: Hill Country Views, Mesquite Firepit, Trails & Pond

Welcome to Sprague Ranch Cabin — your quiet escape in the Texas Hill Country.
Tucked away on a private ranch about 28 minutes from Lampasas, this charming cabin is where families slow down, work-trippers reset, and city folks remember what stars actually look like. Views go on for miles in every direction. The skies fill with stars at night. And the only sound you'll hear after dark is crickets and the crackle of the firepit.
What makes it special:

Mesquite firepit with a swing-grate for cooking — real wood-fired meals over open flame, with mesquite stocked and ready. There's also a propane grill if you'd rather keep it simple.
Miles of Hill Country views — sunrise coffee on the porch, sunset from the firepit. It doesn't get old.
On-property hiking trails — wander down to the pond (bluegill fishing is great), explore the ranch, or just stretch your legs under the big sky.
Cozy, charming interiors — warm wood, comfortable beds, and the kind of cabin feel you can't fake.
Starlink WiFi — fast and reliable, so work trips actually work.

Perfect for:

Families looking to unplug and make s'mores around a real fire
Couples wanting a quiet weekend under the stars
Remote workers who need a porch, a strong signal, and zero distractions
Anyone craving a real Hill Country experience without the crowds

A few things to know:

We're rural — closest town is Lampasas (~28 min). Stock up on groceries before you arrive.
The cabin runs on rainwater collection and septic, so we ask guests to use only the provided toilet paper and drink from the filtered pitcher in the fridge.
It's dry country out here — strict no-smoking and no open flames outside the firepit.
Our friendly neighbor dog Tucker (a sweet German Shepherd) sometimes comes to say hi. He's harmless and listens well if you'd rather he head home.
Starlink WiFi is included.

Whether you're here to cook over mesquite, hike the trails, fish the pond, or just sit on the porch and watch the hills change colors — the cabin's ready for you. The fire's ready when you are.
— Josh, your host

Hey! This is our family play cabin that was built in 2022. I grew up a country kid in the midwest and now live in Liberty Hill, TX. City life is great and all, but my love for dirt is never ending, so investing in our little piece of dirt, pond, and cabin has been an amazing experience.

Why they chose this property

We were looking for a property within an hour from our house, one that had varying elevation, good trees, and at least one good pond. This place had it all, and we've continued to nurture the land for wildlife habit.

What makes this property unique

The views from the cabin are exceptionally amazing and never get old. Wildlife out here is abundant too. Though we have on grid power, we enjoyed building a rainwater collection system that utilizes the roof for our water supply where we can collect about 800 gallons in 1" of rain! The cabin itself is finished with a nice open floorplan and big views at the front. Even the ceilings inside slope from 9' at the back to 14' at the front facing the massive patio.
