We had a wonderful stay. This apartment was perfect for our larger group of friends. The location is close to the brown line which made access into the loop really easy.
The location is great, especially having parking and not having to pay for it. The pictures do not do justice it's very spacious - there are even blow up mattresses in closets for more beds. Several food places within walking distances and a small market across the street. Communication was great as well.
In town for a concert and river tour - the property is spacious and in a good location within walking distance to many things. We enjoyed the main great room area a lot. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very basic but were okay for a couple nights.
Very nice property in a nice location. Love how close it was to the train which made exploring the city easy. Rooftop was nice, spacious, and well furnished. My only complaint is the noise in the first bedroom. The combo of the train + construction made it almost impossible to sleep, especially if you want to have the window open.
Short answer, we would stay here again. The owner is very responsive and sent thorough instructions before we arrived. I'm hoping they add black out curtains for future guests, but bring an eye mask just in case. This place has easy access to public transportation. The garage and private rooftop space were wonderfully rare bonuses for a city stay.
This is a fabulous alternative to a hotel. It’s one block from the brown line which made getting around very easy. We loved the modern decor and furnishings. We had plenty of room to relax and spread out after spending our time sightseeing. The only suggestions I might leave the host is that blackout curtains would be nice, and the towels were a bit thin. Otherwise, 5 stars!
Having the separate garage was perfect--We parked when we got there and didn't move our car until we left! Overall, the place was great--our kids really loved feeling like they were in the city. Ad said washer/dryer, but there wasn't one in our unit-maybe a shared one we didn't see?? The El is a block away, and easy to navigate. We walked to Navy Pier, The Field Museum, etc. Overall a great trip, thanks!!
The location was good for us being a spectator of the Chicago Marathon.
Property and contents were outdated. Bed mattresses were way too soft & old as you would sink to the middle.
Freezer was frosted over as we had to cut some of the frost away so the freezer door would shut.
No kleenixes in the location, had to use toilet paper.
Property was on the El so heard trains and sirens throughout the night.
The interior of the apartment was nicely decorated and all key amenities were provided. We appreciated the large living/dining room and the number of queen beds, which were great for a large group. Our group of 8 fit pretty comfortably.
However, the age of the building did show. The entrance to the building and staircase leading up to the actual unit was somewhat rundown (paint peeling, odors, etc). The windows let in a fair amount of street noise, especially for the bedroom facing the street. Also, the blinds are almost see-through and let in a lot of light.
I think this is more of a 3.5/5 but rounding down given the price of the stay.
Nice unit, but some issues that need to be addressed
The good: owner communicated well and promptly; the unit itself was clean; and, it is in a great, centrally located area. But, there were some issues: (1) The stairs going up to the unit and hallways outside of the unit were extremely worn and dirty (we didn't want our children to even touch anything). (2) There were several random issues, such as leak from fridge (which had already damaged the floor, so not a brand new issue) and lights flickering and even going out in front bedroom (the owner did offer to send someone to look at these issues, but we declined because we didn't want to deal with repair people in our unit during vacation). And, (3) the neighbors were very loud at several points.
The outside building is a little iffy looking and you’ll wonder if you’re in the right place. Multiple staircases to get to unit, no elevator (that we found). The unit itself is really cool. The living space is big enough for a large group of people. The kitchen has most of what you’d need. The place is a little dusty (most on the ceiling fans and shelving). Bathrooms are big and nice, but the towels were so small they didn’t even wrap around my entire body. I heard reviews about the rooms being bright so I packed sleep masks for everyone. We were thankful because the rooms were very bright, even at night. The bottom bunk of the bunk bed has a mattress that caves inwards so it’s a little uncomfortable for 2 people. The rooftop is an awesome feature. Great view. It just needs more cushions for the seating. Maybe some additional lighting, but we loved it. Overall, it’s a great place to stay with a group of friends. Just a few minor improvements would go a long way. Great location. Walkable to some really good coffee shops.
Interior of the apartment was nice. We enjoyed our stay. The only issue during our stay was that ghe laundry was not inside the unit, but instead inside the building.
First glance, very nice. On closer look, furniture and carpet heavily worn and stained. Strong odor of cleaning chemicals. Bed sagging, overly soft. No black out blinds, so room very light at night.
