About the host
Your host
Meg and Göran welcome you to our home. We lived in Portugal for 5 years and intend to stay, except during the summers when we live in our summer cottage in Sweden. The Quinta is a small traditional tree farm converted to a villa. We and our dogs love our garden, pool and sauna (which we use every day, btw. you find firewood and wood cleaver in the carport for your saunas or our fireplace). It is an easy access to beaches, surfing, Ericeira town, restaurants, workout, yoga and nature walks. We have rented out our houses in the many countries we lived in together over the years while vacation in Sweden and enjoy feedback about our house and neighborhood. In the information binder you find a lot of information about our home and activities including some of our favorite things to do, eat and drink.
Why they chose this property
Nestled along the rugged Atlantic coastline of Portugal, Ericeira is a picturesque haven that seamlessly blends the charm of an historic fishing village with the energy of a world-class surf destination. Renowned as the first surfing reserve in Europe and the second in the world, Ericeira is a testament to the harmonious coexistence of a rich maritime heritage and a vibrant international surfing community.
With roots dating back to the 12th century, Ericeira's cobbled streets wind through a tapestry of whitewashed houses adorned with vibrant blue and yellow accents, creating a postcard-perfect setting that transports visitors to a bygone era. The town's historic core exudes an authentic Portuguese atmosphere.
Beyond the surf, Ericeira offers a diverse culinary scene that mirrors the fusion of tradition and modernity found throughout the town. Quaint seafood restaurants lining the waterfront beckon with the day's fresh catch, while trendy bars and cafes tucked away in narrow alleys serve up a vibrant mix of local flavours and international influences. Visitors can savour traditional Portuguese dishes such as bacalhau (salted cod), paired with a glass of fine local wine, all while soaking in the laid-back coastal ambiance
1. Situated in a picturesque hamlet with farms and summer houses
2. 40 minutes from the airport and Lisbon centre
3. 8-minute drive to town, beaches, restaurants and skatepark
