About this property

Humble Cabin in Sequoia Park with crazy stars

At the gate of wilderness, the cabin affords a nice view of Sequoia's hallmark Moro Rock, and is ideal for hikers, nature lovers, and small families with young children. Simple and convenient accommodations do not spoil the spirit of Nature, yet provide all the necessities for a comfortable and pleasant stay.
The cabin is located inside the park, just a couple minutes' drive from the South entrance. It is part of a small subdivision of about less than a dozen houses, mostly private vacation properties and family residences. The feel is more local than touristy; buildings are well spaced apart along the mountainside so as not to spoil the view. The cabin living/dining room windows offer stunning views of the surrounding mountain range.
The best swimming spot on Kaweah River is just a few minutes' walk away. A 30 minute drive brings you to the high mountain sierra Sequoia Grove. Crystal Cave and Mineral King are also within driving distance.

The cabin features a full kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, cooking utensils and dining ware, and an outdoor barbecue area with grill, garden dining table and chairs.
The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed. The upstairs loft can sleep up to three children or two adults. The living room futon transforms into a bed for extra sleeping space.

The living room and downstairs bedroom each have a flatscreen TV and DVD player. Currently, satellite TV is NOT available (however, please stay tuned... we are still working on improvements based on customer requests, and will post updates as they are made).

beautiful place poorly maintained

Was once a great cabin. But not kept up. All the electric circuits on one side of cabin on the same 15 amp breaker. Couldn't run both a/c units at same time. Had to keep resetting breaker. No gas in tank - so no stove. There was a hot plate and pizza oven, but took a long time to make meals. TV provided to watch nice collection of DVDs, but t.v. didn't work. Handles came off both sinks. When I called maintenance, she kept saying, "Sorry" but never fixed.Did enjoy the view and the friendly wild turkey that visited us every morning.

Quaint and quiet

This property is off the beaten trail in a very quiet neighborhood. It has a porch to enjoy the sunset and stars at night. The kitchen is adequately stocked. We cooked all our meals in the cabin. The bed is amazingly comfortable and the shower was clean. It could use a good cleaning removing dust bunnies from the corners and some old wood and a broken chair from the front of the cabin. I would stay there again.

You Get What You Pay For

Beautiful location and easy to find. Instructions given by the host were accurate. The house itself was not the cleanest and we had to spend a bit of time cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. Biggest complaint was the overwhelming smell of animal urine in the main bedroom and mouse droppings in the living room. For the price, we can’t complain too much, but we will most likely explore other properties if we decide to return.

very humble cabin

This place was filthy, but cute. It had everything one would need to take a break from technology. The owner was quick to respond to questions.

Pretty location, but not worth the hassle

The location is beautiful and peaceful, but overall the stay was disappointing. The sheets in the upstairs bedroom didn’t feel clean, which was uncomfortable. There’s no cell service or WiFi at all, and that’s never mentioned anywhere, which made things really inconvenient unless you wanna disconnect from world. Worst of all, the price listed in the app wasn’t what we were charged—the host sent a quote 100 higher after we booked. I only accepted because there were no other places available nearby, but it felt really dishonest and left a bad impression. On top of that, there’s an animal living under the house (probably a squirrel or something similar) that makes loud noises early in the morning and woke us up at night. The short road to get there inside the park is extremely steep and honestly kind of scary—I wouldn’t recommend going unless you have a 4WD. That should really be made clear in the listing.

Perfect place to stay in the area.

If you're looking for a small place to stay and are ok with a little bit of a rustic feel, this is the place. Don't get me wrong, you're not roughing it as I found all amenities I needed. Plenty of place to sleep for my family of five. Easy to cook dinner, and it's located INSIDE a national park. The place was clean and I have zero complaints. It was a great stay and if I ever came back, this is where I'm staying.

Cute, simple cabin in the mountains

This is just a cute little cabin at the base of the mountains inside the Sequoia National Park. Everything we needed was available and then some. It’s hot right now, so the little A/C struggled, but we just went up to the giant forest and waited for it to cool down a little. It was perfect!

Know what you’re getting before you book

Cabin location is the biggest benefit as it is inside the park and just a short drive from town. Bring your own entertainment and an air freshener- there is no cable or wifi, no cell service, and the bedroom of the cabin has a strong foul odor that is impossible to mask. (Smells like a mix of natural gas and body odor) Welcome letter and listing state amenities that are not present including a BBQ and cable. Stay here for the location but know what you’re getting before you book.

Great location and stocked with essentials

This was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin is located so close to the entrance of the park that made it really easy to have as a homebase for a little day trips. My Kids had a great time staying in the lofted bedroom upstairs. The bathroom and kitchen were small, but tidy, and all of the essentials were there. Just make sure you print everything out before you get there because the Wi-Fi signal is poor. It was difficult to access The codes that were sent to me ahead of time.

Dirty cottage

Old rundown cottage, that hasn't been decently cleaned in years. No wifi, cell phone signal or satellite. I don't believe the sheets were cleaned from previous rental.

Humble Cabin review

When I booked the property I saw the 8 rating and assumed all would be well. I should have read the reviews. In short, the best part of the property are the pictures. We booked 4 nights and checked out at 9pm on the 3rd night and drove 35 miles to get a hotel room because we couldn't take one more night in that bedroom. Read all the previous recent reviews and understand nothing has changed. The owner hasn't addressed any of the issues discussed. When we arrived we discovered the property was in kind of rough shape compared to what we expected. We decided 'this is a cabin in the mountains' and decided to buck up and enjoy the experience. The tipping point is the odor in the bedroom. The moment we walked in the bedroom the odor was noticeable. The ceiling fans were on high and the windows were open to improve ventilation. I thought it was probably pesticide or rodent control treatment. My wife suspected gas but it didn't smell like that to me. The 3rd night I decided to inspect the propane tank. Discovered no issues at the tank. I noted the line entering the cabin underneath the bedroom and noted that it was turned off. Hence the gas stove/oven don't work.Rather than subjecting ourselves to another night of the odor that we couldn't identify we decided to fix the issue by going to a motel. As we were driving to the motel, 45 minutes away, my wife was researching smells that mimic propane. Long story short...decaying, dead mice can smell like propane!

Nice quiet cabin in Sequoia Park.

This cabin was great for three night stay for free me and my friend who are riding motorcycles in the park. It's well stocked with everything you need. Has a TV and DVD player with a lot of DVDs. It's in a small neighborhood and is very private and quiet and has a nice view.

Mom and daughter getaway

We wanted to see the sequoias. The location of the humble cabin was ideal, however the actual drive to the cabin was steep, full of potholes, and narrow. The main road access was fine. Overall a pretty location with pretty views. Location to eateries and entrance to the park was great. Only complaint are the smells emenating from the ac unit and towels, cabin overall could use a deep clean. Microwave wasnt working. Many light switches led to nothing.

Great Location

Great location, being inside the park and very easy to find. Definitely rustic, and all that comes with that, so don’t be surprised by that when you stay here. I do feel like new blinds would be an easy inexpensive way to spruce this place up. Overall tho, great spot for the price and somewhere I would stay again.
