We enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was small but great for cooking some breakfast with coffee and enjoy the awesome view from the balcony. The location was good, just a short walk to the beach. The R1 and R2 bus were easy to get around with. It was only 12 pesos. You could hop on right by the Solymar.
Nice views; Owner was very responsive. Based on size of room - for adult only stays, would recommend for 2 ppl only. Do not recommend all inclusive as food variety is very limited.
Fabulous little studio condo for visiting the area. The condo was super clean. Kitchen has the equipment for your time there (coffee pot, toaster oven, blender kettle, pots, pans, etc) but you will need to plan groceries asap or go out for an amazing dinner the first evening like we did.
Spectacular view of the beach. Super close to many great walkable restaurants, easy Uber/taxi to the supermarket.
Will definitely stay again here!
Thank you Rox for the great communication💕💕 everything was excellent 👌👌
There were gnats in the kitchen area. The kitchen sink disposal had a strong odor that made being in the kitchen unpleasant. Overall my experience was good and the property mgr was available to communicate and assisted me with coordinating transportation to the condo from the airport.
Everything above was fine, except at bed time. The walls are thin, you can here everything. Then when we left early in the morning to the airport I went to the rest room to brush my hair and an insect fell of my hair. I took a picture an it was a bed bug. Whe we arrived home I brushed my hair again and another one fell off. That's horrible.
Solymar is perfect for those looking for something more laid back with a decent beach for swimming--as long as you choose an owner with good reviews and management! Solymar is half hotel, half privately individually owned units--which is why you see everything from 1.5 stars to 5 stars for Solymar stays. Roxana's place is a great example of an owner who cares! It has a little kitchen and is equipped with everything you need. It is in a quieter part of the resort without noise from the pool area, but still has a lovely view of the ocean. Great water pressure and air conditioning. Comfortable king bed. You can take your clothing down to the laundry most days in the early morning, and it might be ready for you by afternoon. I would skip on the all-inclusive pass and restaurants operated by the hotel portion (separate from the private owners). There is a little shop in the lobby for packaged snacks and beer if you need something on the fly. A better (and cheaper) option is the Go-Mart about a 10 minute walk North on the Lagoon side for sandwiches, pastries, beer, booze, cheese, and grocery basics. The owner recently installed a security camera outside her door, so I felt super-safe. I wish I could have spent more time here! Highly recommended!
I stayed at the solymar in cancun roxy rented me a condo thru u guys and this woman's condo was not

Poor Communication from host
The communication from the host was horrible! The toilet became clogged (from complete normal use) and we had to use public restrooms for an entire afternoon while waiting for a response from the host. We did not want to continue to use the toilet and make the situation worse. We went to building maintenance asking for a plunger but they would not assist since this was a condo and not a pert of the hotel section. If I knew I would have to use public restrooms I would have purchased a tent for 29.99 and slept on the beach! After maintnece finally came the host response was " Me Smith !!It's a pity that you don't recognise that you did clog the toilet... Laury the maid unclogged it, it was clogged with paper and other organic waste." While it may have been clogged from normal use, was I expected to find a place in Mexico that sells a plunger, get an uber and go there to purchase it? Also it took the host almost an entire day to let us know what to do with our trash- even on her response it was not clear where to put the full kitchen trash bag. I did not just want to leave it in the hallway which other folks did. There was also damage to the property on arrival (see attached pictures). I didn't know that I would stay in a place with a broken window. While I would not say the stay was horrible.. the slow communication from the host made it difficult. On a positive side - the resort itself was nice and the location was great.
The condo had everything I needed. The complex has a good buffet style restaurant, the pool was relaxing and the beach was beautiful! All the staff were friendly and helpful. Transportation is a breeze. It’s 12 pesos (.60 US cents) to ride the bus from end to end or stop anywhere in between. There’s an orange bus and a red bus that come every 3 minutes. The orange bus has air conditioning, the red bus does not. I’ll be back!
This is a great location for a peaceful, relaxing getaway. You can see the ocean from the deck. The room has everything you need-large refrigerator, toaster, toaster oven, microwave and an air fryer, king size bed and dining table. The actual resort has a bar next to the pool and a snack restaurant on the beach level. There are a lot of stairs to get to your room and down to the beach. There is only one pool, but it was never overcrowded. The people were very nice and helpful. The host of this unit checked in with us daily through Whatsapp to see if we needed anything.
There were no surprises. Everything was as in pics, and location was amazing. One thing I wish I had known-if u take the bus to the end of the strip, there is a grocery store called “Chedraui” that is much better than the Soriana that everyone recommends. If u want to cook meals on your own, it is totally worth an extra 5 or 10 minutes on the bus, and the fare is the same price, just a lil time out of your day. (However avoid the time share trap by getting a discount on a tour-3.5 hours u will never get back!!) We still went out for dinner every night to a different place and didn’t have a bad meal. It is worth getting pesos before travelling as you will get better prices (even though they will accept American Dollars everywhere) we did encounter a couple of people that didn’t take credit card-including the taxi right at the hotel back to the airport (saved about 10 US taking a taxi as opposed to booking a driver). The condo was incredibly clean. I accidentally locked the safe and someone was there within 24 hours to fix-everything you need is here and it appeared many Mexican families vacation at this resort also-which is nice to see instead of only being around foreigners. It not fancy, but not basic either. Wifi was solid, access to tv and honestly left us wanting for nothing. A reasonably priced vacation awaits:)
Perhaps the more accurate description of any property we stayed at, Host was very attentive and courteous, communication was excellent, local was great, we will return here.
Spent our last few days here. The studio is very clean and comfortable. We have stayed here a few times previously and will stay again.
I rated the check in low due to a mix up with vrbo and the host the day we were to check in. Which made this day stressful.
Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF STAIRS
The very unhelpful, uncaring angry management.
The lack of courtesy was exceptional. I carried all my luggage from the street because the security wouldn't let us past the gate. Oh, and they really treated my handicapped wife like a second class lowlife.
The SolyMar hotel is gorgeous with very nice helpful staff. We rented a condo and that was an experience. First....no one picked us up at the airport (as she told us there would be someone waiting). We couldn't get in our room for 1 hr. as she didn't give us the code. The safe in the room was broken and never fixed in 2 weeks, even when we let her know. Broken kitchen cupboards. Very poor communication with the host. Excellent sea view & comfy bed and great shower.

This property was the best in Cancun... The Resort permits.use of all their amenities and the beach is picturesque. It's like from a movie. Your balcony overlooks the beach and the pool. This unit comes fully furnished with a kitchen and is an amazing price for the area. We enjoyed our vacation here immensely. We would book again.
Roxanne was great to deal with, place was stocked with everything you need to cook and go to the beach. Beach was very nice, with palapa, recliners, and moderate surf which wa s fun. Lifeguards on duty. We would recommend this play
Convenient to the airport and public transportation (city buses and taxis), good kitchenette and very comfortable king bed as well as a nice deck overlooking the crystal gulf waters. Easy check in. Owner supplied thick beach towels and beach items, and the resort has shaded areas and lounge chairs as well as awesome pools. We will definitely stay here next time and spend an extra day just relaxing.
