About the host
Hosted by Shelly Jumper
My family is 3rd generation Mineola born, but I was raised in Dallas. We made our way back to where we belong as my parents aged, and now this is my home. Hospitality is what I do best, and I love sharing my home when I'm away working at the job that pays the bills.
Why they chose this property
This is my family home. My mother chose this house because of the century old Camilla bush that dominated the corner of the front porch. Over the decades it had been grafted with two other varieties and sported three different colored blooms each winter. The ice storm that devastated Texas in 2021 almost killed it, and much was lost, but it was determined to live and has started blooming again! It now only has two of the three varieties, as we lost one of the grafts, and is growing again. The porch is still my favorite place to be when I am home, as it was with my mother. The neighbors are friendly, and it is the perfect place for coffee and bird watching.
What makes this property unique
This home is about 100 years old and retains most of the Craftsman features from the original build. It is newly renovated and has all the modern amenities you want yet retains that pre-war charm from the 30s. It is decorated with the 40s in mind, but with well-loved comfortable antiques that are nice to look at yet completely functional. The home is a very short walk from the historic downtown square and all the entertainment, shopping, and food it offers. This home is uncluttered and will transport you to a time when life moved slower.
