About the host
Hosted by Steph
We're full-time desert dwellers who love escaping to the mountains with our dog whenever we can. Whether we're trail running, climbing, cooking, or simply enjoying a quiet evening by the fire, Jackalope Hideout is our happy place. We love sharing it with guests and are proud Airbnb Superhosts, striving to provide a clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped stay.
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it's peaceful, quiet, and feels like the "real" Big Bear. We love being close to hiking trails while still only a short drive from the Village, ski resorts, restaurants, and the lake. One of our favorite nearby spots is the dog park and disc golf course, making it a perfect home base for guests traveling with their pups.
What makes this property unique
Jackalope Hideout isn't just a vacation rental, it's our second home. We completed much of the renovation ourselves, carefully blending vintage cabin charm with modern comforts. Many of the furnishings and decor have been collected or handcrafted over the years, giving the cabin a personality you won't find in a typical investment property.
As dog owners ourselves, we designed the cabin with four-legged guests in mind. The fully fenced yard lets pups roam safely, and we provide dog toys, bowls, a heated dog bed, and other thoughtful extras to help them feel at home.
Our goal has always been to create a place where couples can unplug, relax, and experience the slower pace that made us fall in love with Big Bear.
