Hamragil is a big cottage, sleeping up to 10 guests in 6 bedrooms with 6 double beds, 4 queen size and 2 junior size. Please notice, if booked for more than 6 guests a surcharge pr. person, will apply.
For the best and fastest email- and other computer and TV transmission the lodge has a fiber glass cable connection.
The location is a secluded one, up in the hillside with a great view on the whole valley, the river below and the mountains facing you. Here you are the Queen and the King! Hamragil offers lots of privacy, being though only 15 km away from the town Akureyri and 50 km from the nature's Paradise Lake Myvatn. Access to geothermal water gives you the possibility to gaze at the northern lights in the winter time, while sitting in the hot pot outside, with the vivid mountain creek flowing by in the gully below.
Are you heading East, West or South? We also run the quality cottages "Borgarbrekka" in South East Iceland, 35 km east of town Höfn, (Booking Number 9408171) "Tvera" at the south coast of the Westfjords (4084081), "Brekka", right at the bay Hvalfjord, just north of Reykjavik (9257064), and "Stekkar" south of the great sights Geysir and Gullfoss (2903253).

About the host
Hosted by Jon Baldur Torbjornsson

Hooked on tourism, yet studied automotive engineering in the University for Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany with the graduation Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Fahrzeugtechnik. After being technical director at the car inspection and type approval branch (MOT/TÜV) in Iceland for a few years I got more and more linked to the tourism, using my good knowledge in German, English and Swedish.
Tourist guide since 1983 and owner and operator of the tour agency Isafold Travel and the unique 4x4 rental Isak for 18 years.
Sold the whole business in 2015 to start up a new enterprise, Nordic Lodges. This company runs a few vacation rentals in various parts of Iceland, offering the concept "Roof 'n Route", which makes our lodges to "step stones" on your travel in Iceland.
Tourism and music are my hobbies, and that's where I'm now!
