About this property
Charming Rustic Cabin Whitefish Bay, Lake Superior View
NOTICE: Due to the heavy snowfall this 2026 winter in this area of the UP, we need to delay opening this season by 2 weeks to manage late thaw and any issues resulting from it, so those dates have been blocked. The last 4 pics in the photo gallery depict the extent of the snowfall, literally buried the cabin.
"This is the kind of hidden gem that you want to keep quiet about, so it's available when you want to go back. I've stayed here twice and am already planning a third trip. The location is awesome and there are lots of nearby beauties to explore. The owner is great and you feel the hospitality in the cabin." Reviewed a Repeat Guest I couldn't have said it better myself!

It was a pet friendly cozy cabin across the street from Lake Superior. There is a beautiful beach steps away from your cabin. Only saw 5 people on the beach in a week. Very clean when we arrived and the host Doreen was wonderful to work with. Thank you for sharing a little slice of heaven with us. We will definitely be back. Thank you!!!!
This property was perfect for our short, 5 day visit to this area of the upper peninsula. The cabin was clean, cozy, well stocked and close to civilization, while feeling like you are in the wilderness. Just an hour drive to Paradise or Sault St. Marie for a variety of dining and shopping, if that’s your thing. The casino is 10 minutes down the road as well. Although you wouldn’t know that by lack of traffic. Public access to the Lake Superior shoreline is a short walk across the street. You can hear the freighters blow their horns on the way to and from the Soo Locks. The owner was very responsive to questions right away. We won’t hesitate to reserve this property in the future should we choose explore this area again.
Perfect cabin for a relaxing fall getaway. Prime location—great for a day trip to Tahquamenon, plus public access to the beach right across the street and walking distance to the trailhead of a nice hike to a scenic overlook.
Since this was the fourth time staying at this cabin, safe to say we love it!! The location, nearby activities and amenities have made it ideal for our stays. We're planning another visit for Summer 2026.
The only thing missing for a perfect Lake Superior Northwoods experience was a moose joining us for an evening fire to have a little chat. Enjoyed our stay very much!
Quite and lovely setting. Close to the lake with access to look local eateries and stores for last minute supplies. Close to many attractions in the area
Cute little cozy cabin that could accommodate 5 or 6 comfortably. Across the street from the beautiful Lake Superior shoreline. Sandy beach and rocks to hunt. We had a great time and will be back.
Great location for day trips all around the eastern half of the UP. Comfortable, clean and very helpful host. Beach access was great, though we didn’t use it a ton. My only wish was a softer mattress, but we endured! Thanks Doreen for a great UP stay!

Response from VrboOwner on 29 July 2025
Glad you endured, but it's a fairly new mattress, memory foam, so it adjusts to anyone's comfort. I guess no mattress feels as good as home!
Spotlessly clean cabin. All instructions/directions were easy to follow. The only thing I would add to the description is that there is a lot of iron in the water. We chose to buy water for cooking, coffee, and drinking. Lovely, quiet area.
Very clean. Owners are very hospitable. Easy access to everything in the U.P. this is the 5th year that i have stayed here. It feels like home everytime i walk through the front door. Highly recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Doreen Pavlik
We purchased this property in 2003 as an interim destination until, and while, we built our waterfront dream cabin in 2013 nearby. We loved every minute of our stay in this little rustic cabin. We purchased waterfront in 1994 with the dream of building on it, but until that was possible, we enjoyed this little cabin. We have developed a love for the beauty and rustic feel of the UP. This little cabin has the feel of waterfront, the smell of waterfront, the sound of waterfront, and a partial view like waterfront....but just walk to the west end of the property and cross the street to the public access. It's our joy to offer a stay for your relaxation and break from the media saturated world around you and retreat to a slower pace, with campfires, beach walks, hiking, swimming and many fun filled day trips.
Why they chose this property
This property is a break from the fast pace media saturated world. No in house internet access, but locally available, no cable TV, limited local stations with a VHS video player, totally "old school" complete with a selection of movies and DVD equipped flat screen TV in main seating area. Bring your own DVD movies or watch one of ours supplied. It's our hope that our guests will be so busy enjoying the outdoor beauty, day trips and playing games with family that media won't be necessary except for a nice cup of coffee at the Dancing Crane Coffee Shop to "check up" on your Facebook or emails with their free WiFi access just 3 miles east down Lakeshore Dr. The smell of real firewood burning in the wood stove touches off the rustic ambiance of those cool UP evenings or a campfire with marshmallows roasting or hot dogs lightly charred!
What makes this property unique
Watching freighters passing on their way through to the Soo Locks and on to the St.Lawrence Seaway. Breathtaking sunsets and beautiful "public" beach that only the locals know about right across the street, long walks on the beach and the beautiful vintage Point Iroquois Lighthouse just a short walk down the beach is a destination in itself.
