The entirety of LA CAMINATA DEL MONO is yours - a house and three apartment units with central pool. Within walking distance to the grocery, market, medical, pharmacy, skatepark, restaurants, excursions, entertainment and more. You will likely be delighted with the frequent visits of the howler monkeys, as well as occasional iguanas!

The private, gated property boasts two buildings with a shared pool in the center.

In this listing, you are renting the ENTIRE PROPERTY, which consists of:

MAIN HOME - "El Castillo" - a residential home with two bedrooms, a full kitchen, dining area, living area, a downstairs bathroom with shower and an upstairs master bathroom (off the master bedroom) features a shower PLUS a bath with tv view. A rare find in this area!

THE CASITAS – Second building with three apartments, each with its own small kitchen area and private bathroom with shower

CASITA 1 – UPSTAIRS - "EL MONO" consisting of two bedrooms, each with queen bed and living space has a sleeper sofa
CASITA 2 - DOWNSTAIRS - "POLLO" consisting of one bedroom with a new king bed and the common space has a queen bed daybed.
CASITA 3 - DOWNSTAIRS - "TORTUGA" consisting of one bedroom with new king bed. The common space has a queen bed daybed.

"LA LALIQUIDA" - POOL AREA - An oasis pool with a southern view and overhanging palms. The pool deck includes lounging, cooking, and pool toys / towels.

*Please note that this is a new acquisition by experienced AirBnB hosts. We are in the process of updating the decor and giving the place an overall facelift - you'll only see improvements. Most of the renovations in the main house are complete (except we are expecting new sofa and dining chair). Pictures here reflect changes to main house, and we will update with more photos of the casitas as we progress.

A trellis archway stretches the entire length of the home's entrance where, in the green season, morning glories cover the drive and invite you in. You will have a private code to enter the gates and the driveway has enough parking for two full cars plus either a golf cart or two motorcycles.

LA CAMINATA DEL MONO is located in the heart of Tamarindo, which is known for its vibrancy and has a unique of mix of modern amenities, natural beauty, youthful energy, wonderful people, an inclusive community, walkability, and a pura vida vibe! There are loads of options of outdoor activities, yoga & health retreats, entertainment & nightlife! Here you'll be close to it all - but secluded enough for privacy and serenity.

Playa Tamarindo beach is just a few minutes walk from the property, and you can also walk to Playa Langosta beach in about 20 minutes.

The entirety of the property will be yours to enjoy! Inside the gated property, you have two dwellings; the main house and the apartment building containing the three units. Here you will also enjoy the private pool and parking. The main house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The guest building has three separate apartment units: Top unit has two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen area, common area with pullout couch; the bottom two units each have a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen area, and common area with queen sized daybed.

Our property manager, Yira, will do her best to greet you upon arrival. She is local and a wealth of information. We are always available via the app.

The property is in a bustling beach neighborhood - on a street with primarily other hotels / guest accommodations. The property is gated and set back from the road, so you'll find it feels secluded amidst the bustle. It is a short walking distance to the beach and the heart of town with many shops, restaurants, stores, grocery stores, pharmacy, etc. to choose from.

No car needed! Walking distance to everything town center. If you like, you can rent a bike, golf cart, or ATVs just around the corner! If you do rent any of these or a car, we have a gate to the property and enough parking for two cars plus either one golf cart or two motorcycles. Most of the streets are unpaved and, in the high season, it's harder to find parking around town. We suggest walking or golf cart rental in Tamarindo and a car for excursions.

Monkeys (and sometimes Iguanas and occasionally other animals) will often enjoy the Monkey Walk leading to the property, hence the name! They are one of the many attractions of Costa Rica, and you may hear them from time to time outside of the window.

As is common in Tamarindo, there are critters and it's part of the way of life here. Tamarindo also experiences brief power outages regularly.

As vibrant as Tamarindo is, we do have quiet time between 11 am and 7 pm so neighbors can enjoy their rest.

We have a pack and play / crib in storage - please request in advance so we can set it out for you at check-in time.

The whole property is gated, but the pool does not have a separate gate. Please use with caution. Please be sure to read / follow the house rules regarding pool use.
HOUSE MANUAL / RULES

We invite you to make yourself at home during your stay.

All televisions are smart tvs (except in master bedroom, main house) equipped with Netflix, internet, Bluetooth, etc. Press the Home button for the smart TV and press input 1 for regular tv. Channels are available in both English and Spanish. To change the language of a particular show, press Audio and select the preferred language and then Audio off.

All of our kitchens are equipped with refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffee makers, toaster, and are well appointed with pots, pans, silverware - most anything you may need to make your stay comfortable. We supply you with a starter pack of coffee. Each kitchen also has an easy to access fire extinguisher.

On demand hot water is available. Water is a very precious and valuable commodity everywhere, but particularly in our area which has experienced significant droughts and can actually run out of supply. We ask everyone to do their part to help save the water:

- don't leave faucets running
- turn off faucet when brushing teeth or hand washing dishes
- Use dishwasher / washing machine for full loads only
- limit your shower time to five minutes or less
- reuse towels
- notify us of any leaks
- do not use garden hose to wash your vehicles

Due to the monkeys and iguanas climbing on local power lines, it is possible that you may experience a flicker or temporary power outage. In this case, the hot water heater will power off. Simply press the power button on the tankless hot water system located under each kitchen sink in the apartment units, and out back above the washing machine in the main house.

If, for any reason, the power stays out for a period of time when you need to access the double gate for your car, we do have a key in a lockbox that will allow you to open the gates manually. Please contact us if this happens and we will provide you the code. The keys will go in at the top corner of each of the gates – you must be very careful to not turn too hard or it will break the key! You are provided a key for the gate for access to the gate door, so you can always access gate door regardless.

Air conditioners are controlled with the remote. They are very quick to cool your space and you can adjust the settings to your preference. We ask that every guest please help conserve our precious natural resources by powering off the ACs any time you are not in the room. This is GREATLY appreciated.

Please be mindful of the volume after 11 pm as we do have neighbors. The outdoor lights are on a timer that turn off at 11 pm.

Filled garbage bags need to be tied and put in bins. You’ll go outside the gate in the driveway, and there is a covered black metal bin next to gate keypad. Once you dispose of your trash bag, please be sure the lid is able to close all the way. We all know about those monkeys and other animals roaming around by now!

Toilets – as is very common in most of Costa Rica and the rest of Central America, nothing gets flushed down the toilets. There are waste bins in every bathroom. This is something you will get used to as you spend time in Central America.

There is a washer / dryer set located behind the main house. If you’re in the house, you will see them as you walk out the kitchen door. If you are accessing from the apartments, walk up to the porch at the main house and go to the left and walk behind house that way.

You will see a metal set of stairs that lead to the roof. ROOF ACCESS IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLIMB TO ROOF!

Lastly, please note that our home is not to be used for any commercial purposes without prior approval and permits, and that you are expected to follow all local, state, and federal laws. Thank you!
 

POOL / OUTDOOR AREA

Pool towels and accessories are located in the brown bin by the pool. The white towels inside are for inside use only.
Because the pool is part of your private, gated experience, there is no lifeguard on duty.
