The Preacher's Retreat

Built in 1873, the Preacher's Retreat originally served as the manse for the Lodi Presbyterian Church next door. This gorgeous Victorian has been lovingly restored to combine modern conveniences with historical charm. Centrally located between the largest of the finger lakes, you can explore all that the Seneca AND Cayuga wine trails have to offer. Check out Lodi State Park, a perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming, also equipped with multiple playgrounds and public boat access (4 minutes away). Or, take a hike in nearby Finger Lakes State Forest or Taughannock Falls State Park (15 minutes or less).

Good Times!

One of the nicest houses we've ever stayed in. Everything was great from start to finish. The Italian Kitchen in nearby Ovid was fantastic as well. Wings were huge!

Our Trip to the Wine Trail

We stayed two nights at the Preachers Retreat and had a fabulous time. If you enjoy historic houses as we do this is perfect for you. All is amenities are updated but the character remains. Beautiful place with everything as advertised. Highly recommended!

This historical house is so well maintained and tastefully decorated. We had plenty of space for our family of 8. Easy to cook meals both on the stove and on the grill. Lovely outdoor area with picnic tables and outdoor games such as badminton and cornhole. The host was responsive and accommodating. I would definitely stay there again when in the area again. Such a great location in between both Seneca and Cayuga Lakes to explore the region.

Great house and host!!

I found this house for a wine tour bachelorette party. The house was very clean and fancy. There were picnic tables and lawn games to use outdoors, as well as card/board games indoors. The host was so sweet and helpful, giving recommendations for brunch places and offering a late check out if needed. She also gave a cute welcome note with a bottle of prosecco! 10/10 would recommend!

The pictures of the bedrooms were misleading. The shower curtain was dirty . The shower heads were to high leaving your feet cold . The bedrooms were cold . We were there for Thanksgiving . Just to find out Thanksgiving morning the oven didn’t work . The house sleeps 16 but isn’t set to cook for 16 . The yard was beautiful and would be a perfect summer vacation spot for people wanting access to lakes and wineries. Besides the shower heat and oven problems. It was a beautiful old house .

historic home with modern amenities

Home had everything you needed. Very comfortable beds with upscale linens. Very clean home. It was nice not having to bring towels and shampoo, which was in both bathrooms. Beautifully restored with themed bedrooms. The only surprise was the Deer heads on the wall, but it was a conversation piece with many laughs. My only issue was the water pressure in the downstairs shower and sink. Other than that, everyone loved it!

Wow!!!

Where do I begin?! This property is absolutely AMAZING! The photos truly do not do it justice. Aside from being stunning, the home is full of little touches to make your stay supreme. It’s got the charm of an old home with the conveniences of today and decorated like it belongs in a magazine. We loved the towels so much we asked for the link. Brianna is very responsive and thought of so many details to make guests comfortable. This sounds silly - but even the toilet paper was the good stuff. LOL. It’s the little things. 10/10 recommend staying at this home!!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the Finger Lakes when we took a trip together in 2017, so much so that we bought a home in the area 3 years later. Between the wineries and breweries, hiking and water activities, and local artisans and musicians--there is something for everyone to enjoy here.

The Preacher's retreat is a well-preserved piece of history, nestled between the Seneca and Cayuga wine trails. We have taken so much pleasure in restoring this home and the grounds, and we can't wait to share it with you!
