About this property
'Cozy Cove' Cottage on Lake Carey
Our cottage is a comfy little place right on Lake Carey in Tunkhannock, PA**. The cottage has a screened in mud-room, kitchen, full bathroom, living room, 2 bedrooms, a 'lake room' with breakfast nook and a deck overlooking the lake. Each bedroom has a full size bed. The living room has a pull-out couch that is also full sized and if needed, there is space in the living room for an inflatable mattress. Overall the cottage can sleep 6 people very comfortably, 8 in a pinch.
Outdoors we have a large fire pit and a floating dock. We have 3 kayaks (2 single, 1 tandem) and a row boat available for use (all on premises only), as well as some fishing poles and tackle available to be used on premises (PA permit required. Information can be provided.)
Our cottage is not fancy, but it is comfortable and homey, and we love it that way. Located at the top of one of the Endless Mountains, it is very secluded, but only a 10 minute drive from all your creature comforts including grocery stores, a movie theater, several fantastic restaurants and even a Super Walmart. You wouldn't guess it when you are at the cottage though, it is so peaceful. A wonderful place to unplug and enjoy the sunshine. We did install Wi-Fi by popular request, just in case you don't want to completely unplug.
Speaking of creature comforts and unplugging, not to worry. There is plenty to do and see if kicking back with a good book isn't your thing:
- Fishing. It is huge in the area as the lake is part of the Susquehanna River Valley and is stocked at the beginning of the season with trout, but also has a ton of carp, bass (small and large mouth), pickerel, cat fish, sunnies, maybe more. At dusk, the carp jumping for bugs is pretty cool to watch. Fishing permits are required and are available online. I can provide you a link to the PA website for more information.
- Kayaking/Boating. We have two individual kayaks and one tandem kayak. Our side of the lake is smaller and shallow, which makes it nice for beginners. If you are a bit more advanced, you can paddle on over to the big side of the lake, and take on the much stronger current. It is not permitted to use the kayaks anywhere other than Lake Carey. If you have your own and want a true challenge, you can take it down the mountain and take on an a more serious challenge . . . the Susquehanna herself. For those who may want to bring out more than one or two people, or may not be comfy in a kayak, we also have a nice, big metal row boat that seats 4.
- Golf. There are two PGA rated golf courses at the bottom of the mountain. One is about 10 minutes away (Shadowbrook) and the other 15 minutes away (Stone Hedge). There are also 2 miniature golf courses and a driving range within minutes of the house as well. Greens fees fluctuate, both courses have websites I can direct you to.
- Hiking. The woods surrounding our cottage are private property but there are a number of trails in the area. Many local state parks offer a great hiking experience, but watch out for the local wildlife!!
- Hunting. Speaking of local wildlife. Ask me for the links to lots of information and maps of public access hunting grounds. FYI, the cottage is in Wyoming County.
- Skydiving. Yup that's right. There is a group that is based out of the local small airport (Skyhaven) that does sky-diving every weekend the weather allows. I can see them floating through the sky almost anytime I hit the grocery store on Saturday mornings. Website can be provided upon request.
- Food & Beverage. There are many great local restaurants, wineries and breweries in the area. Some of these restaurants are truly spectacular, if "cooking in" isn't your thing.
This cottage has been in our family for over 35 years. It is our home away from home, we love being there. Unfortunately careers, lack of time and life in general prevent us from getting there as often as we would like. The next best thing would be sharing our little bit of paradise with others.

**Please note, due to lethal food allergies of my 9 year old autistic child, we request that no peanuts or tree nuts are brought into the house. If your pet enjoys peanut butter for a treat or medications, please keep it in your vehicle and feed it to them outside or let them enjoy it in the yard. The allergy is so severe even residue on the carpet could cause a reaction. Thank you in advance.

Looking for peace and quiet? This is the place to go. Our two dogs loved it also! Even the lily pads were beautiful in the morning when all the white flowers were in bloom!
We had a wonderful stay. Pretty much everything we needed to enjoy our stay was provided by our hostess. The cabin was nicely decorated and beautifully maintained. It was a pleasure to be able to have our pets with us. The cabin built by our great grandmother was destroyed during the tornado, but this vacation was almost like coming home for us. We couldn’t ask for a better place to be!
Me and a few of my friends rented this place out for a guys weekend and it did not disappoint. It's situated in a secluded little spot on the lake and has multiple kayaks/boats that you can utilize to have some leisure time on the water. The town of Tunkhannock is a short drive away, and also has the last remaining classic Pizzahut restaurant that you can sit down and eat at. Overall, this little house had everything we needed and even a few extras you might not expect for a place of this size and price. Would definitely stay here again.
Nice location on the end of the shallow pond. The host responded quickly to any questions I had before our stay, and was gracious enough to offer the use of pretty much anything you might need while we were there.Having a/c during a really hot spell was definitely a plus. Thanks again.
Beautiful setting. Nice and quiet. The cottage was very clean and had all of the items we needed in the kitchen. Only one small suggestion would to consider the mattresses. Thanks for the nice stay.

Hi, I am so glad you enjoyed yourselves. The fold out couch has a brand new temper-pedic mattress, and the bedrooms both have newer mattresses with mattress pads and brand new allergen covers. I would really appreciate your input though, so if you would, please email me your suggestions about the mattresses. Thanks so much!

Its a small cottage, but enough room for a family. It has a fire ring and a lake. The owner ensures everything is good. The kitchen is well stocked. I recommend for families
Property was clean and well-kept. Kitchen was stocked with all necessary cooking utensils. Beds were comfortable. Instructions and house rules were clear. Location was quiet and peaceful.
My girlfriend and I went on vacation this pasted weekend and stayed at the Cozy Cove Cabin. We had a prefect time. The cabin had everything we needed. They had plenty of chairs, firework, the kitchen had all the cooking utensils we needed, and the beds were very comfortable/clean. I would gladly come back to this cabin in the future.

Property was as described.
Water area was a bit disappointing as it was not swimmable due to weed growth, but kayaking was good out into both parts of the lake. Nice area and accommodations were as described. Very comfy beds and linens! Cottage was well stocked with supplies and necessities

Wanted to let you know we are actively working on the lake weed/lily pads and hope to have a more fisherman AND swimmer friendly shoreline next year. Takes a long time when you are trying to be very careful of the wildlife effected. Thanks for staying, I am so glad you enjoyed yourselves!
We had a cottage on Lake Carey that we had to sell in 2017 and so we booked this rental for the nostalgia and wow was it just what we needed! Laura is an incredibly thoughtful and responsive host. The smaller lakeside was so peaceful. We enjoyed kayaking and a campfire and reading on the porch. Will stay again!
A beautiful location on the lake with great views. The house is very clean and the area super quiet. The only concern or issue is that parking for a boat trailer is quite tricky. There is no place to turn around on the road and parking the trailer was a challenge, thankfully the neighbors are very kind and helped to accommodate our parking needs.
This is our second time staying at this property and it didn’t disappoint. My wife and I needed a little getaway to wind down and it was so nice that we could bring our little dog with us. I can highly recommend this contract if you want peace and quiet. The cottage is neat and clean and well maintained. It has everything we needed. The view is great over the lake and it’s. I’ve to sit on the deck and watch deer, beavers, and ducks. We will definitely be coming back next year.
This lovely cottage on the lake exceeded our expectations in every way. It is spacious and filled with light, the beds are comfortable, the water in the shower is hot and with good pressure, and it is amply stocked with linens. The kitchen especially is well stocked in every way - dishes, glasses, mugs, silverware, cooking tools, and some basic food supplies. We ate our breakfast in the lovely screened-in porch overlooking the lily pads. It was exceptionally quiet, both during the day and at night. We would definitely stay there again - and hope to when we return to Lake Carey next summer!
The house was clean and Laura was very easy to deal with. She answered all of my questions prior to our stay. Fish weren't biting the first few days of our stay but they were biting towards the end of it. The only thing we weren't prepared for was the fact that there are no closets so we couldn't store our luggage out of the way. But it was nice that they provided Linens and towels so we didn't need to bring them with us. Overall we had a very relaxing stay.

Glad you had a good time. Believe me, I WISH we had more closets too!! Trying to make room for more storage without compromising living space. It's on the list, believe me.
We had a wonderful time at the cottage. Prior to check in it was very nice to have a conversation or two with the host (Laura),who was very kind and answered any questions we would ask. Check in was very easy, the cottage has everything to keep you busy:book and games of any kind. We were more focused on things we could do outside and there are plenty: fishing.kayaking or swimming. No luck with fishing, but me and daughter really enjoyed those evenings on single or tandem kayaks. The area is very quite and is in the very corner of the lake. There was nothing at all to disturb our peace. Wi-Fi reception is strong, the view from the deck is absolutely amazing. I think this is a really great getaway for the family who wants some privacy, peace and quietness. Thank you very much for having us as guests! All the best,Andrey and family.

Why they chose this property
I look forward to sharing our piece of paradise with you. My family and I have spent almost every long weekend at Cozy Cove as well as many childhood vacations over the last 40 years. Floating on a raft on the lake, getting sun burned (oops) and making s'mores on the camp fire are some of my most cherished memories.
Our cottage isn't fancy, but it is comfortable and homey. It is the kind of place where you can cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie on a rainy day or curl up with a good book in a deck chair or lawn chair. Nothing matches, and we like it that way. If you are looking for a home away from home to relax and unplug and probably take a nap in the shade, your search is over.
What makes this property unique
The house has very little boat or road traffic because it is in a little cove and pretty shallow for fast jet-ski's and water skiers. Usually just a quiet fishing boat or kayaker is all you will see.
