La Renardiere is a village house located in the picturesque, small town of Montferrat. Montferrat is one of the VAR’s famous 13 villages, in the heart of Provence and equal distance between the beaches of the Riveria and the Gorge du Verdon. The town is an authentic French Village, untouched by tourism and charming in every detail. You’ll see school children racing to school, hear the town bells chiming, the town’s river babbling through the village, and become one with the locals.
The house is a 500 year old stone structure, a prominent home on the town’s main street and steps away from the town square. It has north and west facing facades and receives lovely secondary light on the lower level, and then direct light the higher you reach in the home. The house is 4 storeys plus the cave – equalling about 2400 The main floor includes a modern kitchen, new washer/dryer, fireplace and dining area for 8, with access to the cave. The second floor - queen bedroom with new ensuite, fireplace and large living room. The third floor is the Master bedroom with King Bed and new ensuite. The fourth floor contains the third bedroom with large double bed and new ensuite, plus a great room equipt with Television, movies and DVD player with access to the roof terrace and sweeping views of the town’s roof tops and the valleys beyond. The cave is accessible from the street for storage of bikes and equipment for outdoor pursuits. Parking is steps away at the Place des Allees.
The town of Montferrat includes a boulangerie, a cafe, two bars, two hotels, Grocery store and two restaurants. The town also has a soccer field, tourism office, picnic grounds, Doctor, a children’s park, library and community center. On the outskirts of town you will find a working Farm which sells some of the best Chevre (cheese) in the region. The town is famous for its picturesque waterfalls known only to the locals (and those with a great map!) For a 45 minutes picturesque hike, there is a beautiful chapel accessible by multiple trails and accessible year round. The town is geographically rather central to Aix en Provence (1.5 hrs), Nice (1.5 hrs), St. Tropez (40 min), and the Gorge du Verdon (30) . All highlighting different aspects of the PACA (Provence Alps Cote D’Azur) The neighboring towns of Bargemon (8 kms) boast some of the best art galleries in Provence. The house does not have a private pool, but Bargemon has an amazing communal pool. Chateau Double (2km) provides vistors stunning views of the Canyon, and cliff side dining 8 months of the year. Day trips, could include Cannes or Grasse, both 1 hour away. Or, for further adventures Monacco, Nice, or Avignon are all under 2 hours away.
