165 Pequeno. The Z house living area opens to a screened deck with an additional eating area. There is an open deck facing the dunes, as well as a crow's nest, the perfect place to watch the Dauphin Island sunsets. The house has Wi-Fi, cable TV, large washer and dryer, microwave and toaster oven. Large flat screen TVs in both living room and master bedroom. Master bedroom opens to the deck and has a roomy walk-in closet. Beautiful natural cedar paneling interior and ceramic tile floors throughout. Ample parking and BBQ patio under house and room for boat. The cottage is located just one block from the island-wide bike trail, also close to public beach, and is located in a great area for birding as well. Easy walk to golf course, gift shops and restaurants. Parking for 2 cars

We loved staying here. The location of the house was perfectly set away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to get to it when we wanted. Quiet neighborhood.

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway this is the house! It had everything we needed and only a short walk to the public beach. Very easy check in and check out. Dauphin Island Realty was great and so easy to work with.

NOT SAFE!The house itself is nice, but the wooden porches and stairs/railings are in a terrible state. They are rotting away. You can't even use the railings without getting numerous splinters (I pulled 4 of these out of my children on day #1). We wouldn't even let our kids play on the decks out of fear the railings would rail and they could fall right over the edge. In fact at one point while walking down the stairs a 2inch section of wood from of the stairs just broke off under my foot. Check-in was very quick and easy. While the house was near the beach as described, even technically within walking distance, however you are not allowed to walk across the Sand Dunes which stand between you and the beach. Therefore you cannot walk to the beach at all. There is also no view of the beach from the house, only of the dunes. You cannot even see the sunset except behind the trees.

Peaceful location

Beautiful house, beautiful location. The peacefulness being away from the tourist attractions was amazing. Walking to the beach or driving from the house was easy and gave us a lot of time to relax. The house was stocked with all kitchen utensils and sitting on the screened in porch for meals was a great option. I would recommend this home!

Very nice for the four of us! We were comfortable and cool in this extreme weather. Some of the furnishes could use some updating, especially the sofa. We will rent again if available for sure!

Welcome to the jungle

Clean and well stocked. Mosquitos are intense. Driveway was slightly overgrown, especially for a larger vehicle. Close to everything being fairly center. Enjoyed our week on the island!

We loved Dauphin Island and the Z home. The only criticism I have is that the photos give the impression you can see the ocean. However the dunes have been built up and there is a large tree now....so you can only see a small sliver of the ocean. Otherwise the bedding was very comfortable and the location was very convenient. We look foward to staying again!

Hi, thanks for your feedback! Z House is located on the Dune and is a short walk to the beach. From the crows nest you can catch a slight glimpse of the beach (more in the winter than summer when trees are thinned). We are glad you found the home comfy.

Dauphin Islanders first time visit.

We loved the island laid back atmosphere, no commercialized stores (now know to grocery shop before crossing the bridge 😉). The house was adequate for our needs, very disappointed in the lack of views due to the overgrown tress and lack of beach access. Be sure and get a permit to gain beach access from propert management or could be costly ocean visits daily. Overall we plan to come back to the island but will be more thorough in our planning. ZHouse is a functional and inexpensive place to stay, neighborhood is nice and neighbors friendly.

Unstable house

stairs and house both sway anytime someone walks on them. There were giant ants that would come out in the evening and be dead in the house in the morning, would have to clean them every morning. You can't walk to the beach from the back yard, $500 fine if you walk on the dunes. House was hot during day and cold at night. Rental company give you dishwasher pods and demands you run dishwasher, there is no dishwasher. Grass needs to be cut badly.

Hello! Thank you for your review. We hope you had a wonderful stay! Homes on pilings are built to sway at times. I have never seen a home sway when someone walk up the stairs. The pilings are as far in the earth as they are above the surface of the earth. About 12-15 feet under the ground and 12-15 above the ground. I will check the stairs, that is more common to have stairs get wobbly. We will have pest control check out the ant situation. Z House is located in the pine trees, on the dune. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach from the bike trail. We do not advertise beach access via the dune. I am not sure about the $500 fine for walking on the dune, that is not something we charge-but I would not want to walk on the dune to access the beach. There are a lot of plants and cactus plants. The grass is cut once every 2 weeks, I will check on this now. So sorry we put the wrong complimentary tide pod and cascade pod packet in the house! Whoops. We have a special one for Z house, with no dishwasher pods but someone must have accidently given you guys some cascade by mistake. We ask that there are no dirty dishes upon departure. Below is a copy of the checkout email that you received and read 7/30: We're sad to see you go, but hope you had a wonderful stay! Just a reminder that check-out time is 10:00am. Please check out on time to avoid late check-out fees. Please be respectful of our housekeepers tight schedules, they will show up promptly at checkout time. Please note that late checkouts can't be assumed, they must be pre-approved. Late check out rate is an additional nights rent. Please make sure you leave no dirty dishes, trash or food in the unit and all doors and windows are locked. Please strip the sheets from your bed and start a load of laundry if you have time. Keys must be dropped off at our office before you leave the island. If you vacate before we open, there is a key drop on our office front porch. We look forward to hosting you again! Please do not forget to check drawers/ the dryer/ dishwasher for personal items. If you brought your firearm, do NOT LEAVE IT. Please pack it NOW! Any forgotten Firearms will be turned in to the DIPD and you will have to coordinate with them for return.

Very enjoyable stay. quiet location behind the dunes, found a path to the beach and tidal pools, close to the public beach, and of course, the island is small and with a good system of paths, so easy access to everywhere by bicycle. Will return soon!

Perfect Spot

The Z-House was great! It was the perfect size for out little family to come and have a visit to the beach! We were stocked with everything that we needed! We really didn't spend much time in the house because we were so busy having fun at the beach. We loved having an outdoor shower so that we could clean off the sand before we got inside!

Relaxing stay

The property was exactly as listed. Located on a quiet street surrounded by trees and close to the bike trail. Walking distance to a few restaurants and gift shops. Can't really see the Gulf with the overgrowth of trees but the public beach was a short drive from the house. Overall it was a good experience.

The Woodland House

Great place to cozy up in the dunes and woods! Be prepared for the place to be a little rickety and there is no dishwasher as stated online. Location is close to everything that the island has to offer and the view is beautiful! Probably manager was very quick to get our WiFi up and running. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again! I loved the atmosphere of the place-very cozy!
