"La Casita Azul" is a great place to relax while exploring the Riviera Maya!
Between Tulum and Akumal and surrounded by the jungle, it is your cozy base, yet far away from crowds, and a few minutes drive to the pristine Xcacel Beach.
The house is fully furnished, fresh and bright, and you will enjoy its flowered front yard and its large roofed terrace backyard. The place is all yours (it is a second home). The house can sleep 6 persons - "Blue room" has a King size bed with jungle view, A/C, fan, closet. - "Red room" has 1 double bed and 2 single beds, A/C, fan, closet. - 2 bathrooms with shower (one inside one outside) - fully furnished kitchen - tv - WIFI - air conditioned in each room. - 2 large covered terraces You will love your breakfasts and diners on the backyard terrace with the birds singing!
La Casita Azul is in Chan Chemuyil, a quiet, charming, colorful international community. The development is surrounded by jungle, smells good and sounds good. It is within a walking distance from "downtown" Chemuyil which is cute and typical. There you will find a few restaurants, tortilla factory, tacos, bakery and small grocery stores. Chemuyil village is really authentic and friendly.
Xcacel beach is also a 3 minutes drive away and is one of the most beautiful beaches, as a protected turtles sanctuary. Crystal clear water and a white sandy beach, make Playa Xcacel perfect for snorkeling, swimming and relaxing. In order to keep the place safe and protected for turtles, the entrance to the beach is allowed from 10am to 5pm (tue-sun) and there is a 90pesos (5usd) entrance fee (toilets and shower access). There are also other amazing beaches around (Tulum, Akumal, Paamul, Xpu-Ha,...). On your way back you can swim in the fresh water cenote (underground lake) 100 meters away from the house!
La Casita Azul is a short drive or bus ride to Akumal (10min) or Tulum (15min), and is centrally located for easy access to mayans ruins like Tulum and Coba, to the Sian Kaan Biosphere, Eco-parks (Xcaret, Xplor, Xel-Ha) and other great trips like exploring Cozumel, great snorkeling, spectacular white sandy beaches, jungle cenotes...
Public transportation is easily available from La Casita Azul. The "Colectivos" (small public buses), go by readily between 6am and midnight. After hours, you can get a taxi from Akumal (10min) orTulum (15min).
If you plan to visit the Mayan ruins and do a lot of sightseeing, or have small children, renting a car at Cancun Airport could be your best option.
Here are some great points of interest around (with their distance from the house):
---- BEACHES 1km - Xcacel beach, wild and amazing. 5km - Bahia Principe Beach 7km - Akumal beach, where you can see turtles. 17km - Caleta Tankah is a beautiful beach with beach club and also a cenote. 20km - Tulum, has many beautiful beaches. 30km - Xpu-Ha Beach, very beautiful beach, with a typical beach restaurant.

Our stay was pretty good. Loved being close to wildlife. The iguana in the shower was pretty cool. A short walk to Chemuyil to get necessities. The cenotes near by were great to cool off. The layout of the home was perfect for us. Victoria, who takes care of the home was top notch and super friendly. Would stay again.

Thanks Janet for your kind review, it has been a pleasure to host you and we hope to see you again!
Everything was great with our stay, The communication with the owner was excellent. The house had everything we need
It was clean and functional with the exception of the outside toilet which water pressure was pretty weak so we end up using just the inside toilet.
The location is great, the (Beautiful beach of Xvacel is just about 15 minutes walk and about 8 minutes drive is KAY Beach Club which is a great spot too.)
We really enjoyed La casita azul and we’ll definitely go back again.

Thanks Diter for your great review, we're glad you enjoyed your stay, it has been a pleasure to host you!!!
The casa is exactly how it appears online. The area is lovely and chemuyil is a wonderfully authentic town. The home is nicely situated for exploring ruins and fishing days toward Punta Allen. The AC was a blessing for sleeping and the beds were comfy. We enjoyed the back patio and the outdoor bathroom. The resident iguana was entertaining. We had a great time and having a comfortable place to cook, eat and relax really makes everything more enjoyable. Helene was very helpful and gave us a lot of ideas of things to do in the area.

Thank you Jamie for your nice comments, we hope to see you back soon!
We loved the beautiful, safe, quiet neighborhood, in nature and within walking distance of town and swimming. The house is clean, bright and appealing. The simple floor plan, the two outdoor covered areas, and the simple decor and functionality of this house were great!
We had some days when we stayed in for a long morning, while our teens slept in (one came down with a bug during our stay and was able to convalesce quietly there any time of day). I enjoyed walking in the neighborhood and the clearing behind the house, and saw a wonderful variety of birds and butterflies there. Other days we were up and able to get to amazing places with ease. We cooked several times for dinner, and the kitchen worked well, with a window over the sink. You might bring a few small necessities like your favorite pan, potholders, or spatula if you plan to cook a lot. The beach chairs, unbrella, etc. were very useful for a trip to nearby Xcacel beach for first-rate snorkelling. No sunscreen is allowed when swimming there, so the shade was a helpful (Bring biodegradable sunscreen from home-- we couldn't find it readily in nearby stores)
Helene made great recommendations for plaves to go-- both printed and in the online description, and even on the fly as we were getting our bearings in the neighborhood.
We would love to come back for another stay! There is so much to see and do in nature and culture here, and the people around are delightful, welcoming, and patient with our beginner Spanish skills.

We would love to have you back here! thanks for choosing La Casita Azul :)
This small, simple, functional place had enough space for my family of 5 to spread out just a bit. Just what we needed for sleeping arrangements, ability to cook a few of our own meals, have a little down time, and wifi for a little schoolwork while we were away! We loved the iguana, but never could coax him down for a visit. Helene was great to communicate with and this was a really quiet, friendly and safe feeling neighborhood with a great location for so many activities. Loved it!

A great little home with beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces perfect for a relaxing holiday!
We absolutely loved our stay at Casita Azul! The house had everything we needed and we especially enjoyed having the outdoor shower/ bathroom. The front porch was a perfect spot for breakfasts and the back yard and covered eating area were perfect for relaxing in as well. The community is small but very welcoming and it is perfectly located to enjoy all the sights and activities nearby!
We enjoyed the quietness and layed back feel. After 2 weeks, we weren’t ready to leave!
