History: This amazing building was originally built as a dance pavilion. In 1924 it was purchased by William C. Smalley, who operated Smalley’s Theatre and several other dance halls around Cooperstown. In the 1930's it was converted to a two-cottage family camp. Recent renovations included a complete overhaul of the interior, including restoration of the original dance floor!
Did you know? Six Mile Point (aka Hickory Grove Point) was described by James Fenimore Cooper in his novel The Deerslayer. The area is described in a scene where Natty Bumpo hid from the Hurons that chased him.
Amenities/Technology: Each guest receives a personalized access code four the smart lock system, and outdoor cameras provide ultimate security. A window heat pump dual heat-A/C unit is installed in the main living area, and is usually more than sufficient to heat and/or cool the entire indoor living space. The living room has a large L-shaped couch and a 65 inch smart TV with Roku. You can stream using Netflix, Hulu, etc. (bring your log in/password info!) With high speed Wi-Fi you can stay connected while enjoying the serene surroundings. The home is also outfitted with USB outlets for device charging, and a wireless charging station is located in the main bedroom. The bathroom fan is equipped with an automatic humidity sensor. A laundry area on the porch has a high-capacity clothes washer and dryer available for guest use.
Nature: The house is located in a natural area with lots of wildlife (ducks, geese, whitetail deer, chipmunks, etc.). Insects and spiders are in the area as well, and we do not spray the property with insecticide.
Lake Access: Our deeded access to Otsego Lake is just a short walk down the hill. You may only use the point for entering and exiting the lake. The beach may not be used for any other purpose. This means you can swim, but fishing and picnicking are not permitted.

Great place to stay at the lake! The house was clean, equipped and nicely decorated and close to the lake. The hosts were very quick to respond and helpful with questions we had.
Perfect place to stay while watching our son play in Cooperstown! Loved being by the lake and enjoying the wrap around screened in porch! House was clean!
The house was a perfect stay while my son played at Dreams Park. A beautiful place—everything was clean and comfortable. My girls loved having the lake access to jump in for a quick swim when they we were not at the field. Would love to stay again!
Pros: great renovation, modern kitchen & bath, comfortable beds, pleasant screened porch, convenient location midway between Cooperstown and the Glimmerglass Festival. Cons: sulpher water (this was expected; bring bottled water for drinking & coffee), only a partial lake view, no closets in the main bedroom. Overall a very nice place to stay!
Perfect for our short stay in Cooperstown. Why stay in a hotel room when you can have your own cottage for the same price? Saved money by eating-in and enjoyed lots of family time while still having adequate personal space. Very clean with everything we needed including lovely little touches like games, books, even a yoga mat.
Perfect place for two adults and one child stay while spending a week visiting Cooperstown and the surrounding area. Loved being able to walk to the Lake and drive into Cooperstown. Cottage was great and owners were very responsive. Highly recommend!
We stayed here while our son was playing at Cooperstown Dreams Ball Park. The house was only about 9 minutes from town and 18 minutes from Cooperstown Dreams. The house was very clean, comfortable, well furnished, and had everything needed for a enjoyable vacation. Would highly recommend!
We traveled with our son to attend the Cooperstown tournament. This property was perfect for my husband and I. We enjoyed the porch, the quick trip to downtown Cooperstown and Cooperstown Dreams Park, and the scenery. The owners thought of all the little things to make our stay relaxing and easy. A perfect week and a beautiful property.
Wonderful location - close to the baseball village and great restaurants. Very clean and beautiful views of the lake. Would recommend.
