Great overnight stay during a KY distillery trip

For a mismatched group traveling without spouses, the four rooms were a welcome sight. The owner was friendly and answered all questions promptly over email or text. The house is older, but nicely furnished. So much better than a hotel! Thank you!

Great Location and Super Clean

The Pyke house was a great location as we had events Downtown and further out so it worked perfectly to be in between. It was very clean and had everything we needed and more. Just make sure you communicate how many beds you intend to use or if your number of people in your party changes as to not incur extra charges upon checkout.

Great atay

The location was perfect for us (close to I75) as a stopover on our way south. Communication with the host was easy, and this charming home was spotless. The beds were comfortable and bath linens and supplies were plentiful. There was plenty of room for our family of 3. (With 4 bedrooms, it would be easy to accommodate a larger group.) The kitchen was modern and well-equipped.

Swim meet weekend

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay while in town for a swim meet with my daughters. Jill was exceptionally responsive to our requests. The home is so cute and comfortable. Jill went above and beyond to have things available to us that we have never had at other VRBO or Airbnb accommodations. The neighborhood is very quiet and we would recommend this home for any kind of stay you would have in Lexington, especially if you need to be close to UK campus.

Lovely home!

The property was wonderful and more than adequately supplied with essentials during traveling. Spacious parking and comfortable beds! Walking distance to many restaurants and a gas station. Be cautious of dog feces in the yard!

It was a cute little house.

We used it mainly for sleeping. We were visiting from Virginia seeing the Ark & Creation museum as a Bible study group. Everything was clean and very well stocked. There was a past comment of a shady house beside it which is true but they are a sweet family very friendly. We arrived very late Fri night & there was a college party across the road. A car was parked in front of the house who apparently was at the party. No one bothered us but they did throw a beer can in the yard. We let the owner know & they were very apologetic & said they were college kids & they would contact the college kids landlord. The incident had nothing to do with the owner of the house or the property. Just sharing our experience. I would recommend this house. It was very cute and very convenient to shops & food.

Older home, Quiet neighborhood

Our family had an unexpected chance for a reunion. We elected to do the Ark Encounter because of its central location to us. Our stay was for a single night. The beds were nice and, with the kitchen for dinner and breakfast, it was a nice savings over hotels and restaurants.

A Lexington Thanksgiving

Our family enjoyed a beautiful Lexington Thanksgiving. The home was a clean, cozy home away from home. The central location was perfect for eating, shopping, and enjoying UK basketball & football games. The owner generously provides coffee, toiletries, and linens. I loved the antique touches throughout the home. We hope to book this property again for graduation!

scarry for people with fall risk

Generally the house was comfortable to stay in. The bed squeaked. It was nice to have big overstuffed chair that my grandchildren sat in together and read or used their kendalls. the kitchen was nice to work in. My real big concern is that the steps out front were extremely dangerous. I had to go out the back stairs. It would have been nice to know that there were steps and are not safe for those at fall risk. They really should be brought up to a safe standard. Thanks for sharing your house

About the host

Host profile image
MY name is Jill and I enjoy reading non-fiction, listening to Art Bell podcasts, raising chickens, ducks, guineas, and geese, junking, and traveling with my husband. I was born and raised in Clark County, KY, but have lived in Lexington since 2003. I love romance languages and speak several including Spanish, with proficiency, and Romanian on a novice level. I take great care to make sure your rental is comfortable, clean, and stocked with all the basics you would need in order to arrive with only a carry-on. I hope you consider my rental and if so, have a peaceful, relaxed stay!

Why they chose this property

This property was built solid to last in 1940 and was purchased as my first home in 2003. It is dear to me because I have many fond memories of living here. I purchased it for all the charm I could take advantage of on my budget at the time. It has lovely hardwood floors, two feet thick stone foundation, a formal dining room, a galley kitchen off by itself (I am not a fan of large open floor plan houses), and is heated with forced air natural gas, making the home extra warm and cozy in the winter. Although the bedrooms are small and the full bath is a tight fit, it keeps the family close and has a classic vintage feel I think you will appreciate. The only reason I moved was because I fell in love and moved in with my now husband in his lovely home on the outskirts of Lexington where we have acreage enough for chickens!
