“Time Out Of Mind” is on Lewis Smith Lake nestled in Bankhead Forrest, located between Addison and Arley in Winston County, Alabama. 2 hours from Birmingham or 3 hours from Memphis or 4 hours from Atlanta.

The house has been rented for family reunions, romantic getaways, small group retreats, fishing tournaments, weddings, and much more! The house can accommodate large families or single renters.

• Comfortably sleeps 13 – 15 in five Bedrooms:
o 2 x King
o 2 X Queen
o 1 Bedroom with 1 Full Bed and 3 Twin Bunk Beds
o There are also 2 fold-down futons that can sleep little people
o Plenty of room in bedrooms to set up portable cribs.
• 4 Bathrooms
• 2 Kitchens
• A wonderful screened in porch and decks on 3 floors overlooking beautiful Smith Lake
• Three large, open living spaces
• 3 Wall-mounted Flat screen TV’s with full surround sound
• Full size pool table
• Boat Dock with an extra slip for your water toy. Boat launch access in the neighborhood. A gravel ramp may require 4WD
• Since this is our “home away from home”, it is fully furnished and has all the amenities you could possibly need.

Going away gathering

There were a combined 4 families ( some related, some were dear friends) together for my daughter that will be going on a year long military deployment. Excellent property for a large group. The house has plenty of room for everyone to have their own space . The weather wasn’t the best, so we didn’t get to enjoy the fire pit and only grilled out once due to rain.

Great location for our family thanksgiving get together

The house was exactly as described and it was perfect for 6 adults and 4 children. Everyone had plenty of space. The kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the couple of trails by the house.

Perfect Lake Getaway

This is our third time staying at this Smith Lake house. It's a wonderful retreat with enough space for my extended family to gather. We love the peacefulness of the location, the screened porch, and the game room. This house has everything we need, and we look forward to going back next year.

Quiet lakefront getaway

Great property and a nice weekend getaway with family. Quiet part of lake, enjoyed smores by the firepit and swimming off the dock. Plenty of room for everyone!

This house provides a wonderful place to vacation. We had a great time and highly recommend it!

The house has a great layout and excellent location. The house is very well furnished. The lake access is wonderful and that part of the lake provides a lot of privacy and gives a lot of area for playing in the lake off the dock. We enjoyed our time and look forward to coming back next year.

Fantastic stay

Loved our time on Smith Lake. Erik was very responsive to the couple minor issues we had and the property as a whole was exactly as advertised. We had plenty of room for our group of 15 and the location on the lake was quiet and secluded! Highly recommend.

Such a great place for family to gather and relax.

The house is well supplied with all linens and kitchen needs. Two kitchens is great for a large family! The lake is in a quieter area and the dock area is fun for the kids and adults. Great place to get away and relax! Owner is very helpful and responsive to any questions.

Great vacation

The place is nice . It could definitely need a good cleaning . The price ia reasonable amd it has a pool table! The views are nice from balcony. The dock and water are nice. We had a great time and the owners were very easy with. We had no problems. We loved the pool table and the lake!

Perfect Lake Retreat

Lovely property with awesome dock, great game room, beautiful landscaping, big deck and screened in porch. This house has everything you need. We roasted marshmallows at the fire pit, swam, boated, and played games. The owner is so accommodating and responsive. He helped us with all our requests. We’ll definitely rent this house again!

Family vacation

This is our second time staying at time out of mind and will not be the last! We fall in love with the lake and location more and more! There was plenty of space for 6 adults and 7 kids. Dish’s and cookware are plentiful two refrigerators a commercial ice maker in the basement was a great addition to avoid trips in and out of town. The owners were quick with suggestions when we had to pull our boat out of the water for a repair (I hope this doesn’t happen to you but if it does I HIGHLY recommend Vinson Marine) the only problem we had was that our stay came to an end and we had to come back to reality! I wish I could give the location 10 stars!

Holiday Getaway

Time Out of Mind is very remote; and once off the main road, it’s very rough with potholes. BUT you arrive at a house that sits on the bank of the MOST picturesque little creek you could ever imagine. Even in winter we enjoyed the kayaks. Restaurants are few and far between, so be prepared; and you’ll probably want to bring your own favorite cookware. Also, bring your favorite family games, and you can truly put “time out of mind”.

Awesome house, setup, town, and week!!!

First, the owner is very accommodating to every question and need. He brought an entire family from Mississippi and Louisiana and there were no complaints. The neighborhood was quiet, the lake was beautiful, water was perfect, and we also enjoyed a day of hiking. We cooked meals every night and played card games at the large table in the kitchen. Highly recommend this house!

Great house for large family or a couple friends

Owner was nice and helpful. House was great and the lake was quiet and peaceful. The house was in upper smaller channel with not much boat traffic. House is in a great neighborhood with nice neighbors. Only wish the county would keep up the public road. Neighbor hood road was in good shape but county road was terrible. We will look at this house next trip to smith lake.

Absolutely Wonderful!

Very beautiful and accommodating place on the lake. We spent my husband’s 40th birthday there with a few friends and family. It’s very spacious and the house comfortably fit all 15 of us. It’s almost like having 2 houses in 1, with access to a kitchen and living room area, located in the very bottom floor and the middle floor.The fire pit was great, the kids loved making s’mores. The kids enjoyed fishing off the dock and swimming. The kids also loved the room with several bunks & hung out there. The owners answered all of our questions while we were there, with an immediate response and very helpful. We would definitely love to stay there again!!!

Perfect for a family with children. The owner was easy to get ahold of.

Beautiful home but it could be a little bit cleaner. Floors, tables and bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner lots of dust and sticky areas. No ice maker and the basement kitchen refrigerator and ice maker had mold. Listing should say that guests need to bring kitchen soap and toilet paper so that guests are better prepared.

Best of the best!

Our group rents on smith lake all the time and this house is my favorite for many reasons! Great location- less traffic on the water, beautiful around the house and not a bad walk to the water. House itself- fully stocked linens closet that accommodates extras and makes you comfortable, all bedrooms were wonderful, 2 full kitchens, screened in porch!!! Stocked kitchen, air conditioning for each floor that worked perfectly, huge dining table that we were used nightly, pool table, beautiful view. Owners- super easy to deal with. We will def be back to this one!!! Bonus-Plus, we rented jet skis & pontoon from Bum Jett Ski Rentals- they delivered to nearest boat ramp which was in our neighborhood!

Home sweet home!

I have stayed at "Time out of Mind" on two separate occasions. Each time we were a housefull of 14-15 guests. There were plenty of comfortable places to sleep, my favorite of course being the master suite, with a very comfortable king size bed, flat screen TV, and large bathtub! One family enjoyed having their privacy in the apt on the ground floor. We all enjoyed the scenery. The lake is beautiful. We loved relaxing on the dock and the kids enjoyed jumping in into the water from the swing. We cooked 6 nites out of 7 and there was more than sufficient equipment to use as well as drinking glasses! The dining room table was large enough for us to all sit down for a meal as well as to play games at night. The owner, Eric, was a pleasure to work with. I recommend you experience "Time out of Mind" for yourself! When you arrive, you will say "Home Sweet Home!"

Quite and Relaxing Retreat

You can not find a better location and setting for a relaxing get away. The neighborhood is remote and supremely quite, perfect for enjoying nature and escaping the busy world. Our group had a blast! Full Pros/Cons list below! Pros: -Neighborhood -Perfect lake setting -Comfortable beds and linens -Strong wifi. It must have been updated since the listing description because we had 10+ devices connected and had no problem streaming -Multiple living spaces with plenty of TVs -Large kitchen/dining area -Nice neighbors -Spacious bedrooms -Owner is great to communicate with Cons: -Grimy. The really important stuff (showers, sheets, toilets, etc.) were super clean but everything else is only what I can describe as grimy. It's in need of a deep cleaning. We were a church group of mostly teens so it didn't bother us too much. -There were no trash bags and only 1 roll (or 1/2 roll) of TP in the bathrooms. Plan to bring your own -Sulfur smell in the water. This was at most a minor inconvenience, but it is something to note. Overall, I would stay here again for the same type trip we did and feel that the pros far outweighed the cons.

As a young married couple, we started coming to Smith Lake in 2000 with good friends. We would spend weekends primitive camping, boating, playing in the water and basking in the sun. We quickly realized that lake weekends were the BEST! That inspired us to buy our lot in 2005 and build our home in 2008. We love the remote location surrounded by nature's peaceful beauty. April - October, we spend our time on the lake. The rest of the year, we enjoy hiking around nearby Bankhead National Forest and skipping rocks across the lake. This is our home away from home!
