Plenty of privacy
This is our 4th year coming to Rangeley and the Stone property was by far the nicest. They really took pride in decorating and location is perfect. I would definitely book this property again.

Wonderful place
We had an enjoyable week! The house had all the amenities. My husband and I particularly loved the master bedroom with the balcony and beautiful view of the lake and large backyard. Correspondence with the realtor was excellent, even after our stay. Highly recommend.

This house is great if you love outside time on the lake. The dock is large enough for several people to lie down at the same time. The sunsets from this location are incredible. The firepit and the table on the deck are great for being outside as well.

Stone Property
This was a perfect rental for our family. Three bedrooms, two baths, a great deck, and a dock that gets sun all day. The kitchen is small but as long as you don't have too many cooks it will be fine. The sunsets from the dock are amazing and the firepit right on the water is great.
The driveway down to the house is very steep, so be prepared for that.
It also is very well stocked with everything you need. A great rental.

Great location!!!
Stone is a great property. The location is amazing with a beautiful yard and dock that gets sun all day long so you can enjoy both sunrise and sunset. It's far enough from the road that it feels really private. It does help to have a car with AWD for the road and driveway but my Honda Fit made it going slowly.
The kitchen is very very well stocked and it makes cooking in really easy if you don't want to go out. The deck is great for eating, watching the lake, and listening to the lions.
A great escape.

Stone Cottage
The cottage was clean and well apportioned. The view was spectacular the dock dive and jumpable. There was plenty of space and the beds were all comfy. Might just rearrange the downstairs bedroom, as the tangling with all the doors and the small aisle at the foot of the bed was challenging. Perhaps putting the bed's head under the mirror rather than the window would make the room flow more easily. I suppose that then takes away from the TV watching opportunity, there are two other TVs and likely not a necessity, at least for the gang that I was there with. I will surely consider renting the cottage again, it was near perfect. Jackie Bartell
We had a wonderful week in Rangeley, and Stone was a perfect place to stay! It’s nestled way back in the woods where you don’t see neighboring houses until you get out on the water. It’s bright and relaxing with beautiful views of the lake from the living room, dining room, and master bedroom. It’s a bit of a drive to town, though we were able to watch the July 4th fireworks from the deck. The house was clean and cozy, had a fully stocked game closet, and several different living spaces (the entry room/den, the living room/dining room, and the porch) so our group (young children, parents, and grandparents) didn’t feel like we were on top of each other.
The only criticism of our experience at Stone was that there was A LOT of goose poop in the yard. We cleaned it up and did not notify the management company or ask them to do anything about it. I’m not sure if this is a regular problem or not- I noticed the geese only visited the dock (and left deposits there) as the week went on, so perhaps they had “made friends” with a group visiting before us.
We would stay at Stone in a heartbeat when we find ourselves in Rangeley again!

Lovely time at Stone The home is great for large families and we love the view of the lake and the privacy!
We have stayed in past and always enjoyed it!
We had a great time at the Stone property with our two families. It’s located in a very private area so we did not have to worry about our kids being noisy. It was spacious and clean. The ability to dock a boat right out front was so convenient. The huge deck was perfect. Property management was easy to reach and quick to respond (we needed trash pick up). We had only a couple complaints, one of which was, part of the dock was sketchy, as it seems someone had put together a couple pieces of wood as a makeshift portion of the dock and it wasn’t very sturdy. Also, the entry to the water is very rocky, and not safe for littler kids. If there were even a small area of a sandy entrance as opposed to the huge rocks it would have been much less scary for the kids near the water. Otherwise an amazing place!

very disappointed
Smelt of wood stoves not cleaned I had 4 asthmatic people and one had a problem with it, kitchen overhead light did not work, BBQ was dirty and rusty, a hall light fixture was hanging by wires, smoke detectors beeping (low battery) fire ext (2) one due 3/2008 and the other showed low charge, one dinning room chair seat just placed on chair, I changed my first chose because the entrance to the water was muddy I was told my second sold and this rental had rocks we needed water shoes to get in or out and my wife fell when an unstable rock moved .
The rental company sent cleaners out the next day but we had opened all the doors and windows we asked them not to clean the wood stoves we did not want to make ash dust for more problems.
They did send their handyman and he replaced kitchen the lights and fixed the hanging light, replaced BBQ. They were eager to do what it took to make me happy, and told me they would take $200.00 off the rental.
I still was not happy with the condition when starting a vacation for eight people, I felt like a fool with issue after issue!

Response from VrboOwner on 31 March 2020
We felt terrible about the maintenance items and wood stove smell when the guest checked in. We did have the property cleaned the day before check in, but the owner had used the wood stove a lot all winter and spring so the house had a lingering wood smoke smell. When the housekeepers were cleaning the day before the owner's handyman was there working on a few things, and my housekeepers assumed they would put back up the light fixture. The kitchen light worked but it took a longer time then normal to come on. Our maintenance man was at the home first thing the next morning and changed all smoke detectors (they were not beeping the day before), put the light fixture up, fixed a chair, and I believe fixed a screen door. We also sent housekeeping first thing to freshen up the house and try to get the smell out as best we could. My housekeeper said once the doors and windows were opened it was much better, and just had been closed up. We did offer to move the guest, but the location is so private and wonderful that I think that is why they decided to stay. We offered the credit for the inconvenience of those things not being ready to go when they checked in, and we did deliver a brand new gas grill to the guests that next morning also. Our maintenance man confirmed that the grill was not in good shape. I wanted to explain because we (Morton & Furbish Vacation Rentals) do our very best to make sure that every guest has a fantastic vacation with us. This guest came into the office many times during the week and said things were great and they were having a good time. We thought he was happy and we had fixed all issues. The entry into the lake at this location is not all sand and there are some rocks. The water is clear and wonderful and the view is fantastic. This home is also very private and secluded for guests to get away and relax. Again, we feel awful about this guests experience and always want 5 stars. I am somewhat surprised at the review because I thought by 10 AM the next morning we had everything fixed and ready to go. I appreciate the feedback and we will make sure this type of experience does not happen to other guests. We can promise that if there are any issues at any of our properties we will send assistance to remedy the situation ASAP or offer to move the guest to another location (which was also offered to this guest the evening of check in). Thanks so much! Beth :)

Staying at Stone on Rangeley Lake
My family had a wonderful stay at the Stone cottage. Perched on a slight hill overlooking the lake, the views are lovely. Even better from our point of view was the swimming - which we did every day. There is a dock area and an easy walk in to the water from shore. One evening we gathered around the fire pit roasting marshmallows. The cottage is well situated - near hiking trails, restaurants and other amenities. While there are other cottages nearby, there is a very good sense of privacy and space. We would definitely return, and as we always do, rent through Morton and Furbish.
